Not all dentists in Ottawa use it that I know of and I've had to request it (I'm a big baby) but they will use it for minor things - I've heard of some people using it for cleanings!

December goals: Arm weights every other day, crunches everyday. Weight goal is a very aggressive 159.anything!

December 1: 170.2 (arm weights/crunches)
December 2: 168.8 Whoosh! (crunches)
December 3: 168 (arm weights/crunches)
December 4: 168.4...not sure what that little blip is about, maybe I inhaled too much powdered sugar??? (crunches)
December 5: 167.8 Yay! I inhaled less powdered sugar than the day before! (arm weights/crunches)
December 6: No weigh in. I only had about 4 1/2 hours of sleep and I know my weight won't be accurate. (crunches)
December 7: 167.4

Now do I understand this correctly???
Pretty much. Since I started the kettlebell classes and power lifting in June the scale has barely budged but I've gone from a size 12 to a slightly too tight 7. So, although the scale has basically stayed the same I've replaced a lot of fat with muscle.

Effects of cold

My damn, insulated steel door seems to have warped or bowed a little from this cold and won't close. I'm desperately trying to find a door guy on a Saturday to fix it. Ugh, the problems with living in a cold climate. No wonder some of us carry our own "insulation".

The meds to make me sleep wouldn't work so I totally remember the tube etc in my throat. Very scary stuff but i'm Alive! And trust Very Very few Drs now.
So scary! Glad you are okay! I'm sorry about the loss of your son.

December's goal......179

Nov 30...185.6
Dec 1.....185.2
Dec 2.....185.8
Dec 3.....185.4
Dec 4.....184.8
Dec 5.....185.4
Dec 6.....185.8
Dec 7.....188.?

So hanging steady at 185 for a week sends me over the edge, but gaining 3 lbs overnight doesn't bother me? Whatever, I woke up with a better mindset today. No more cravings and not ready to bite anyone's head off. I'm ready for the rest of December.

Bulldog: Great attitude. We will kick the rest of the month in the booty.

Baked some chicken for lunch, will last a few days. My hammy is really tight and hurts hope I have not done damage that will keep me from running. Icing it and stretching it often.

BonnyJean, having been a gym bunny for several years, I can say I have never looked at others at the gym and had any thoughts of them as to why they were there or if they would be there in 3mons! To be honest, most people in the gym are really thinking of themselves when they are there - watching form in the mirrors, looking at their own machine etc. very rarely do you encounter someone who would be evil to think badly of you. I've been everything from a US 4 to an 18 in the gym and yes, I felt uncomfortable, it was only my own thoughts that made me feel that way, and not other members.

I know it could be different in a works gym, but I really think you should give it a go. I think you might find people would gladly help you out using equipment or talking to you about classes. I'm am very sure you will find at least one person who will actually encourge you to keep coming into the gym. In fact, the gym can be a very sociable place! If its too daunting, pick a time when its less crowded, bring a friend so you have someone to talk to, or if you have any trainers available, make an appt with them to go around and see the equipment. If you don't want to talk to anyone, have your ipod and head phones handy!

Just remember, its free, you don't need another clothes horse the size of a treadmill, and no one is there to judge you! Start off slowly and take care of yourself not to push too hard too quickly. See if they have a PowerPlate machine - it can get you started off quickly with pre-set programmes and is gentle on your joints.

Hope everyone is keeping nice and warm and toasty - sounds like you have some crap weather over there!

Thanks so much Tiggy!! Thoughtful of you to take the time to explain things to me. What a wonderful world if everyone had your attitude. Our fitness guy showed me around and I thought I felt comfortable enough to start, but no. One of the officers in my unit offered to go up with me after work, but no.
I seem to have a fountain of excuses and although I believe they're legitimate, there are still excuses, I guess.
1. Have to let my senior furkid out at 7 before work.
2. Return at lunch to let her out again.
3. Come straight home at 3:30 to let her out again.
Then I feel too guilty after leaving her all day to do anything after I get home cause she's already been alone too long. So there you go??? When do I do this??? Until my little girl leaves me, I'll have to either wait or try to find something to do at home. She is too old for much of a walk and it's too damn cold here to do anything outside, so there you have it!!
I do thank you for your support and as always, very much appreciated.

princessmommy: I am so glad you are ok. That was a horrible experience not only losing your pregnancy, but almost your life at the same time. My heart truly goes out to you. I and am thankful you are well and safe. After that, I wouldn't trust a doctor either...

Tigg and Tril:
Thank you for the education!

pcaltman: Nice woosh!

Kemp: Awesome mega woosh! Take care of yourself and get some rest.

Bulldogmom: It's ok. You didn't murder anyone, and -THAT- is what is truly important! Great attitude about the rest of Dec as well!

Bonny: I would die in those temps. Stay warm! Also, if you are looking at exercise options at home, I use a recumbent exercise bike every other day for at least 30 mins on it's maximum resistance setting. It does not take up a lot of space at all, and was really easy to assemble (and was not too expensive either) the brand I have is a Marcy Model: ME-709. Take a look at it. It doesn't make any noise, and you can easily get lost watching a show or a movie and end up exercising for about an hour without paying attention to the time.

December Progress:
12/01 219.4
12/02 218.8
12/03 218.4
12/04 217.8
12/05 217.4
12/06 216.2
12/07 215.8

If you could get your choice of fitness equipment for free other than a rowing machine or a mega fitness center. .... what would you choose??

Bonny-jean: I have done a stair step on the utility room step bench for 30 minutes a day and lost weight. Come on girl, you do not need a machine, just do it!!!! Honestly I am the biggest guy in my gym when I started 47 days, the towels did not even fit around me. I had to hold the two ends together to cover up for my walk to the showers. It is a little embarrassing but I just tell myself I am doing what is right and everybody else can kiss it if they do not like looking at me. And now I am still a big guy but the towels fit around me now!!! Small accomplishment but still feels great. You can do it. No excuses JUST DO IT!!!!
