Questions about Dietary Fiber on Induction

I read the original Dr. Atkins plan before he made the changes in his New Revolution book that allowed for the sutraction of dietary fiber in carbs, so can someone clarify this for me?

If something has, say 10 carbs and 8 of those are fiber we subtract that 8 off and are left with 2, correct?

I know in Induction we are supposed to reserve most of our carbs for veggies, which I plan to do, but I know from past experience Atkins really binds me up, and the fiber supplement will, uh... help keep things moving.

fyi: I won't be consuming cheese duing induction, and my fiber powder doesnt have any sugar. It is pure fiber powder from flax meal, acacia and contains inulin.

Yes, we are supposed to be able to subtract fiber from the carbohydrate amount to get the net carb total.

If added fiber works to "un-bind" you, great!

If you still have problems, consider adding some coconut oil ("CO") (starting with 1 tsp/day and working up) to your diet.

I use it in my BPC (bullet-proof coffee: Coffee whizzed up with coconut oil and either heavy whipping cream or unsalted butter. Comes out like a latte and serves as a filling meal), and when I don't get to HAVE the coffee (say, when we're traveling), I can really feel the difference!

I also use The CO in my BPC to counter-act things like narcotics, which tend to be constipating. (I was on Vicodin for about 5 days, recently, after an injury. Couldn't WAIT to get home to my CO! (And it "did the trick" in a single day.)

But yes, in terms of daily carbs, fiber is considered a "freebie".
