Did anyone hear of this...........

Garcinia Cambogia. Apparently the new "magic pill". There's also a herbal for belly fat called "Holy Basil". Has anyone tried this?? It was on Dr. Oz today and this stuff is flying off the shelves.

I mostly ignore this kind of stuff. If its not been out there for a long time and proven its efficiently I am not going to waste my money. Just my two cents. I swear I think that Dr. Oz gets a kickback for all of the weight loss pills he promotes.

Hi Bonny-Jean
Interesting as Garcinia yas been around for a long time - HCA is derived from the fruit (the Indian tamarind) and has been in thermo and fat burner pills for at least 30yrs. Hydroxycut has always had the extract in it from what I can remember. It can reportedly lower blood sugar. Ive used it on and off for a few years when training, but can't say it did anything for me.

I've seen holy basil extract as well - usually in the same type of supplements. Can't say any of them did anything for weightloss but they sometimes helped a really long session at the gym go faster.

Hmm, that is interesting. Although Dr. Oz is "used" on many advertisements, he has disclaimed most of them. I usually don't jump on these bandwagons either but it claims to also help with appetite supression and increases mood so even if the weight loss is minimal, the other aspects sound positive and it is herbal/natural?? Of course because of it's increasing popularity, there are copies and you really have to watch what you buy but I'm kind of interested. I will check my health food store before I order online.

I usually ignore anything Dr Oz says! He says One thing One day then something totally differant the next day.

Appetite suppression and feeling better can occur just from being in Ketosis. Personally, I'd rather get it from eating the right foods than from a pill.

I know you're all right but I guess I've never been so dedicated and yet having dismal results. I know I'm getting older but I've never watched my food intake like I have the last couple of months, only to see the bare minimal weight loss. It was like 5 lbs, then 4, 3,3,2,2,1,1, etc. What happens next week and the week after... nothing??? I wasn't looking for a quick fix, just a little help but again, I came on to this forum to get your advice from your experiences. Thank you all.

Bonny Jean:

Your stats show you have lost 24 pounds since 09/16/13. That's AWESOME. You are doing this and doing a great job of it. You have to keep in mind this is not going to happen as fast as we want it to, but it will happen. We did not gain all this over night and unfortunately we cannot lose it overnight either.
Trust me I wish there was a lil magic pill that we all could take and get to our goal weight fast, but if there was we wouldn't be having this discussion because everyone would be skinny and the inventor would be rich.

With that being said, be patient and enjoy the roller coaster ride to the new you. I say that because there will be bumps and stalls and frustration along the road, but trust in YOU and you can do this. Atkins tells us a 1 lb per week loss is normal after induction anymore than that, WONDERFUL...

Relax you are doing well and you just need to keep focused on the end result, whatever it is you want it to be.

We are here to help, but you are in the driver's seat..

NO COFFEE??

OMG, I would be a bear to be around if I didn't have that 1 cup in the morning. I don't think the coffee's hurting me so I'm gonna start adding my 1/2 cup in the evening. My brewed coffee is a little on the weak side I've been told so no harm, no foul.

LOL, I stopped drinking coffee COLD TURKEY when I started Atkins. I cleaned out the cabinets and tossed everything that might be bad or give me any temptation. Caffine sometimes causes stalls and I decided not to risk it. Now i have a cup with HC about once a month. It's my lil treat for being good and eating right and clean all month. I'm Majorly looking forward to it.

Mine is NOT weak, but a good strong cup of JOE. YUM....

Ditto to this! I would rather do it naturally because you can't take that "magic pill" for the rest of your life. Sooner or later you'll have to learn to manage your eating without it, so I prefer to just learn it naturally right off the bat.

I quit listening to Dr Oz when he promoted the guy on his show that says he contacts the dead. IMO he is Just like all other talk show celebrities he puts things on his show just to have a show.

Garcinia Cambogia

Pssstttt........ don't tell anybody, but I already ordered it. If it ever arrives, I will let you know if I see any difference at all. I'm not holding my breath but if it doesn't do anything I hope to save others $50. Yeah, I know..... grasping at straws here. I am not a patient person, in any aspects of my life so there you go.

Bonny-Jean; Good luck on that one. Dr Oz has to have ratings and by saying it will cause weight loss, everyone wants to get it..he makes money by doing that.
Who knows he might someday actually find one that works.

I know I'm just being silly. They finally arrived and I've had 2. I never found they held off my hunger or made me eat less?? Oh well, yet another lesson learned. If I notice anything remotely positive, I will share.
