Introduction

My introduction, story, & experience thus far:

I am a 36 year old female that has yo-yo dieted since I have had my first and only child (many years ago). I am aiming to lose about 33 lbs +/-. I always ate very healthy at work, sticking mainly to salads during the day but came home raving hungry because I deprived myself of carbs while at work and gorged on them while at home, creating a vicious cycle. My eating habits were inconsistent and knew I needed something pretty strict. I began reading about Atkins Diet about a month ago, doing some research & looking for recipes. All the while asking myself if I was up for it. Low and behold here I am on day 6. I decided to dive in head first and start on Halloween because I would be the type to eat up every leftover piece candy leftover from the trick or treaters.

For day one, I prepared a quiche that was quite delicious and felt I got off to a great start w/ breakfast. I brought lots of greens to work for meals and snacks & drank a ton of water. I can’t say Day 1 was terribly hard but challenging to say the least. In all the forums the thing that everyone seems to stress was water so I think I went off the deep end for the past 5 days. I was probably drinking 180oz+ each day. I felt very heavy and sluggish and bloated! Ick! One thing I did not mention is that I started 2 days before Aunt Flow was to arrive so my body was all out of whack and still is somewhat. I did not weigh myself on Day 1 and actually didn’t weigh myself until today so I am not sure if I have had much weight loss. I will base my weight loss of this morning’s weigh in. On day 3, I was nauseous and had a headache, which I am assuming was the induction flu – but disappeared the following day (thankfully). Today I have felt much better since I have reduced some of the water intake. I know I really need to change up what I am eating so I do not get bored. Also, I have tried Ketostix several times to see where I sit and I barely turn the stick to a light pink. I know we are not supposed to base anything on them but it would be nice to see some color change.

Ketosis

I am still in question whether I am in Ketosis on day 6. I have not turned the stick very pink. I still have an appetite but not crazy hungry. I am not overly thirsty either. Hmm....

Welcome!! I am one of those people who doesn't use the keto stix thingys. I easily stress out over stuff like that so I decided to ditch them this time around. I'd just make sure you're getting enough fat, that will help with the hunger.

I am down 2lbs today! Woot Woot! I am sure its because I slowed my water intake and definitely lost the heavy feeling. Still got in about 120+ oz though.
