First day of my new job today - best first day EVER! Was so busy that I didn't get a chance to eat. Just polished off a nice strip loin steak topped with a garlic, parmesan butter. Hoping that I see some movement on the scale tomorrow. I've been weighing in at 193.5 for so long I had to ask DH to step on the scale to make sure it wasn't broken!

Wishing all of you in the U.S. a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving dinner was a bust for me. I was eating the ham and realized it was sweet. My cousin said that they had gotten a brown sugar ham. Then I started eating the green beans and realized that they were sweet too. Then my cousin said, "Oh yea, we cooked those with the ham.". I ended up making 2 scrambled eggs since there wasn't anything there for me to eat. My family didn't bat an eye. LOL If yesterday hadn't already been a cheat day, I probably wouldn't have worried too much. Hope everyone else is having a great day!

Great job Laura!

MtherGoos, size 8?! Awesome!

Kemp, I love the avatar!

Shelly, the scale, your body, wth?! Hang in there, you're doing great in spite of all the challenges.

Everyone is doing great! Hang in there, the holiday is almost over!

[B]PF:[/B congrats on new job. Glad it went like you wanted.

Bulldog: I ate honey baked ham and just did not eat the outside part with the sugar on it. I do not know about a brown sugar ham. According to my tracking site that is pretty high in carb 2.5 carbs per one ounce. Honey baked ham is 2 carbs per 3oz so not the end of the world. You did good by stopping. Proud of you.

Shelly:Sounds like we were in the same boat. I ate ham my uncle made, he said he put about a table spoon on the whole ham so I avoided the crust and then ate a ton of turkey. Stayed completely on plan. Just got home and only had some honey baked ham, cut off the crust so it should be fine.

Did my three mile run when I got home so all is good. Will check ketosis a few times to make sure my uncle was not lying it tasted pretty sweet the few pieces I ate.

DOne with eating for awhile Stayed pretty much on plan, just ate way more than I should. Probably under what most eat though. My calculator says I ate 1565cals with 23net carbs, so a lot more carbs - double what I usually eat, but it was from lowcarb veggies -broccoli, cauliflower and green beans. The rest of the carbs came from cheese and just a little from sf pumpkin pie. I had to have some dessert

I will do Induction until next weekend just to kick myself back into burning fat. I hope everyone's day was Superb!

Happy Thanksgiving all! I made it a LC and cheat free Thanksgiving. The pecan pie looked good though, and the cookies, and the cupcakes, and the pumpkin pie, and the candied yams.. 120 cheat free days. I'm afraid if I take that cheat, I will relapse and just go back to my old life. I don't think I am ready yet, so I just took to the basics. Baked turkey, salad, the roasted veggies, and some cheeses. I am in no way expecting a loss tomorrow though because I did eat more than usual.

Ok, Off to bed. Did not break. I came close. I ate way more than I should have but did not break. Had a total of 5 carbs today. A win. But do not expect to see a loss, even with the 3 mile run. Good night all

.....i guess since i have been gone so long i will just use my oct. starting weight, rather than try to find my last post....but i think i was about 152.....anyway, nov. is always a hated month for me, but i seem to have gotten over the worst of it now....was derailed by annual wine tasting at work in late oct. had 2 big dinner parties, a birthday one for the dh, and one where i cooked for old and new chef...so i have had about 6 days of off plan eating...and of course have been depressed about son moving to the uk....

anyway, now i have been sick for almost a week with stomach issues, so am finally gonna try and stop the s/f chocolate and peanuts....

nov. 19 ~151.0
nov. 20 ~150.0
nov. 21 ~149.2
nov. 22 ~149.0
nov. 23 ~149.0
nov. 24 ~149.0
nov. 25 ~149.0
nov. 26 ~149.0
nov. 27 ~148.0
nov. 28 ~148.0
nov. 29 ~146.8

still feel lousy

went to the doc, he says wait a few more days and see if you feel better....

i feel yuchhy, but at least i am not eating much ....surprised i havent lost anything...

Thanksgiving is in the books. Stayed on plan and happy. Ate to much but did not gain a pound or two so that is good. Heading to the gym now for a arm and ab workout, then off to cousins house down south for a day of leftovers and swimming. They saved me the turkey legs to eat today when I get out there so should not over eat today. I do want a beer very badly however, but will abstain as I want to see 238.8 on the scale tomorrow. I have a 6 mile run in the morning, each Saturday will be a new long run for me. So this weekend 6 miles next weekend is 8 miles!!!! Hope my feet and legs can handle pounding. The six mile run in the morning should break this 2 day stall. Will check back in tonight, or after my workout. I am also needing a good BM, been a couple of days. The magnesium and pysllum husk are not working all of a sudden. Or they are going to work all of a sudden and just hope I am close to a bathroom!!! LOL

...so I indulged, now I feel nauseous & ready to get back on plan!

Surprisingly I only gained 1 lb!!! (..now 159, still under my 160 Nov goal)

I guess it's all the water I drank, plus I ate light the day before.

The good thing is that I no longer crave all the foods I had (...pasta, stuffing, bread, cakes etc) because I do not like feeling bloated & lethargic, which is what carbs do to you !!

Now I am focused on my December goal...148 would be great, but I will be happy with 150!

No loss, no gain....I'll take it! I just need to get rid of that extra pound I gained from the pizza. Meat and eggs today for me. My husband's mom passed away this morning so it'll be another week before he gets home. He's doing well and just ready to get back to our normal lives. Its emotionally draining on him and we all just miss having him here.

Bulldog: Glad you stayed the same.

Missydee: Bk will get me every time. Thanks for support.

Shelly: have fun today. We will go get some shopping done late tonight after the rush. They are having a smoking deal on some dog food at pets mart, so that will be our big shop for the day. Will hit supplement shop also to get some more magnesium pills to try and break this BM free.

Just got back from the gym a little 615 calorie burn. Big run in the early am. I think my body is going to try and stall me here for a while. I can just feel it. I already have to run more due to training so will up the gym time to offset and keep the scale moving. If it does not move tomorrow morning then will get crazy insane workouts going. I am in deep purple ketosis so I know it is just holding on to water, so have to figure out how to get the old fat cells to let go of that water. I really want to lose another 20 pounds in December. Will be hard considering I have a large couples weekend Dec 20th. Plan to drink that weekend but no food cheats. So I basically have 20 days to lose 20 pounds. After that weekend will be leaving for cayman 7 days later so maybe lose 1-3 pounds that week after the drinking. I have a plan now I just need to apply myself and get to moving and losing!!!!

Hi Everyone!! It looks like everyone did a really great job of getting through the holiday!!

Our turned out a little differently than I had expected. I thought it was just going to be my BF and I and I had planned to just make the turkey and some green beans. His son and daughter-in-law let us know on Wednesday that they'd be coming out to join us, so I tried to put together more of a feast. They eat low carb too, so that made it really easy. I made an entire Thanksgiving feast that was all low carb! It was fun and everyone seemed to love the food. I ate breakfast that morning, and then only ate turkey for dinner, so I actually ended up eating less than usual for the day. No big loss for me though, just down .2 today. That's okay, compared to Thanksgivings of the past, any loss is better than what would have happened in the past.

Hi everyone, and congratulations for staying on plan! I worked yesterday, but they catered a very nice Thanksgiving dinner at noon and I had some roasted brussels sprouts and turkey. Then I went to my aunt's house, where I had some red wine and one slice of turkey and one thin slice of ham. So everything was good. I'm going to try to switch to red wines-- I find that i drink them a lot slower than whites!

Hey! You don't have to drink all that water!

Happy Friday All! Did anyone brave the malls today?

The fasting yesterday moved the scale 1.8 lbs, weighed in at 191.7 this morning. Tried on my November size 7 goal jeans last night and although they fit perfectly in the legs & butt the waist is way too tight and producing quite the muffin. If the tummy would go, I think I'd be pretty happy with where I'm at.

Fast Food & Junk Food have hidden carbs

I think I managed to stay on goal despite eating whatever I wanted for TG because I NEVER eat fast food or junk food. Fast Food & Junk Food contains lots of preservatives & fillers & hidden sugars & carbs, which invariably will make you gain weight, even though you think you are eating low carb!

If its an emergency & I have no meals or snacks in my bag, I will have a salad with grilled chicken, but no dressing.

I ate so much meat & potatoes & rice & pasta yesterday, but the food was all organic & low sodium (except for the chocolate cake). The more natural the food is, the easier it is for the body to burn it is fuel. Unnatural foods...junk food, fast food is foreign to the digestive system, so just sits in your gut & fat cells multiply and you gain weight. I used to think the whole "organic" thing was BS. However, after doing my research & also eating "clean"...only organic & low sodium, I know that it works.

Congrats Skinny! That's great!

I don't think that's necessarily true though about all fast food. I ate a LOT of fast food this summer because of traveling and still lost pretty well. As long as I checked the nutritional value before going, I found that I could lose well and still eat fast food. McDonalds is actually my favorite because I can their cheapy McDoubles for just $1. Of course home made is always better for you, but you can definitely eat fast food and not have it slow or hinder your losses.

WTG Mothergoose. I think my body just reacts differently to fast food.
Congrats on your success. I guess the key is to know your body & what works and what is not working. However, I reminded a dear friend recently who was yoyo-ing, but kept eating the same foods..."the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results". If someone is not losing weight, it is best to cut out fast food.

Gained almost 2 lbs from Thanksgiving. I'm ok with it. Back to strict LC and monitoring my sodium. Today my wedding bands are super tight and I feel really bloated. Pretty sure I went way overboard in the sodium department.

Current November Progress:
11/1 227.4
11/2 227.2
11/3 226.6
11/4 226.6
11/5 225.6

11/14 222.8
11/15 222.6
11/16 223.2
11/17 223.0
11/18 222.4
11/19 222.0
11/20 221.8
11/21 221.2
11/22 220.6

11/28 219.4
11/29 221.2

There are a couple of things I plan on doing differently next month. I haven't had beef in a few months, and I feel Kemp was right when he said I should up the fat. So I plan to splurge (budget wise) on a whole ribeye at the butchers. I've bought them in the past and they yield an impressive amount of steaks when sliced. I've had so much chicken since Aug I can feel feathers sprouting, and I need a break! I am also thinking of reduced sodium bacon with my coffee in the "morning" instead of hard boiled eggs for a while. I need an egg break too.

What are some of your favorite LC meals? I need some menu inspiration!!!

Absolutely! And, as you said, eating at home is ALWAYS better. I'd much rather know exactly what's in it and knowing that I'm eating fresh ingredients.

Chipotle is one of my favorite places to eat out too when I need to. I think they probably have some of the freshest ingredients available in fast food. Again though, not as good as cooking at home!

Avaleigh, Ribeye and Pork Steaks are 2 of my favorites. I don't care for pork chops, but I really like pork steaks. I'll also just have ground beef mixed with shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese, mayo and mustard. Sometimes we'll grill a bunch of hamburger patties one night and eat them for lunches all week. I tend to keep it pretty simple. One of my favorite ways to do chicken is to use chicken thighs, coat them olive oil and seasoning salt, and bake them. So good!!

Glad are all back at it and on plan. I strayed a smidge today. Went to cousins house and ate all on plan except had a drink of Whiskey. 1 oz shot so no carbs, then I went swimming with 9 kids all of who wanted to be lifted and thrown off my shoulders, so sure I burned that alcohol off pretty quick. Will see in the morning. Looking forward to my run and seeing 230 something on the scale. Will set Goal for December when someone starts the new thread. Looking forward to the thread. Have a couple of huge pork chops on the charcoal grill as we speak. Check in later.
