Have fun bulldogmom. I've tried the quest bars before and didn't seem to hurt me.

Just got back from dinner. Had a 16 oz rib-eye steak, 10 little neck clams, 1/2 a scallop and 4 bites of spinach. Big carb night for me, clams are about 3 carbs but so worth it. I have not had more than 3 carbs a day for the last 12 days so was nice to splurge on a few clams and some spinach. Hope the scale agrees.

I need to get back on track again so I will join in this month's challenge. I've been bouncing all over the place the last few months between hard core induction, maintenance and total carb overload. I gain some, lose some and then start over. It hasn't been a very effective maintenance plan since overall I have ended up gaining quite a bit instead of maintaining or losing. I also stopped logging my weight everyday and posting here and I think that I need to do both to stay focused and motivated. I've been lurking and it's always motivating to read about everyone's progress.

Started today with coffee with HWC and plan to get on the treadmill this morning. Need to get past the carb cravings and back in ketosis quickly. The first few days back on plan are always tough! Since I will likely lose quickly in the beginning with a lot of water weight I will set my November goal at 10 lbs.

11/2: 185.4 (sadly that is 15 lbs up from my low of 170 in July!!!!)

This water weight just won't go away! I feel like a balloon ready to pop. The Halloween party was a success for me. There was a huge table filled with candy, cookies and chips w/dip. The only thing that partially tempted me was the chips w/dip. But I didn't have anything to eat there. I had my Quest bar handy but didn't need it. I guess the bloat served its purpose for keeping me feeling full.

Consider this an experiment. Everyone talks about the benefits of carb cycling. The body builders do it with success. The problem is that some people on here (I'm guilty too) have had a high carb day with sugary processed foods. So the clams should be good. I'm curious to see what this will do for you. In theory, it should up your losses for the next week after the initial gain.

Julie: Important thing is you are back. I was down to 228 in April. I just started back on Oct 21 all the way back up to 267!!! Almost 40 pounds So it happens to all of us, important thing is we keep trying. Posting here seems to keep me motivated also. So glad you are back and at it. Good luck and lets lose some pounds this month.

Even though I had the big dinner, I did workout hard yesterday and it paid off in the scale department. My one day stall is over..LOL..down a pound this morning. I cannot work out today have to give the body a rest after four straight days at the gym. Will do a bunch of work in yard and around the house. Have to take down all the Halloween decorations and want to get one more mow on the lawn before winterizing the yard stuff. ( in Texas that just means putting them up. LOL) So that will be my work out for the day. Will go to the gym latter today and get in the whirlpool and do the steam room and get a massage to give the muscles a good day off after the yard work. Have a great weekend all. Here are the stats.

NOVEMBER GOAL…. 240

Nov. 01…255
Nov. 02…254

Bulldogmom: I hope it works that way with a double carb day for me. I did lose a pound as of this morning. I hope the bloat floats away like a boat ASAP. Glad you did not break on the chips and even stayed away from the quest bar. Bars stall me so I stay away from them. I will however eat the heck out of sugar free candy for a treat day when I get to 240 pounds. I will do that instead of a full blown carb blow out. I get the sugar free peanut butter cups and the other kinds of sugar free chocolatey foods, they not only taste great but they do not blow your diet out of the water. A side benefit is that they clear up and constipation also big time!!!! LOL

Shelly: I am beyond jealous!!!! I am stuck at home, flooded out of the deer camp. I could have driven 6 plus hours to Del Rio to hunt this morning but just not that mad at the deer I guess. Let me know how she does. Hope the bloat floats away like a boat ASAP for ya this weekend. And thanks.

Hey all!
Maintaining today.

I eat Quest Bars regularly usually partnered with intermittent fasting.

I also carb cycle about once a month. I don't break way off of plan just build in more whole carbs than usual but not bread or sugar. -- I'll try to do this on Thanksgiving. I plan on doing a turnip and a sweet potato dish, which would usually be off limits on induction.

Any recommendations for sauces?

To all the hunter's out there, my hubby is obsessed! I'm a true deer widow this time of year -- but get lots of lean venison in return!

Thanks Kemp! The weight sure does come back a lot faster than it goes off! I'm feeling focused though and plan to stay super strict until thanksgiving. I did my time on the treadmill this morning and had some scrambled eggs with cheese afterwards. I'm going to try to not eat any snacks then plan for a small dinner of just meat. Will wait a few days to add veggies so I can get back in ketosis faster. Hope everyone has a great day!

OMG...my mom convinced me to move my scale from the rug in the closet to the bathroom floor. She said a hard surface is much better, and that being on the rug was probably why I was going up and down so often. Okay,,,so I moved it this morning before weighing...

10/31 178.2 before moving the scale

11/1 180.4 1st scale move
11/2 184 2nd scale move

The only good thing about this is that I must have weighed more to start with. My start weight was 200 before i moved the scale originally, and just two days ago - my weight was 178. Now today the final move it is 184. Difference of 6# so I would guess my start weight would have been closer to 207. Which if I look at it like that poundage loss would still be the same even though I am up six pounds.

Well my goals are still the same this month. And I am DONE moving the scale - never, ever EVER move your scale...lol it is no different than buying a new one and the weight will change dramatically at times.

What goes up must come down!

I guess I could not hide from those mini tootsie rolls I took from my kids' halloween baskets (6 minis - 12g carb total).

Oh well, I will weigh again at the end of the week and I am confident I will see a loss, since what goes up, must come down!

Nov 1 - 170
Nov 2 - 171

Good morning everyone!
I tried something different yesterday- from one of the food trucks (we have lots of them in DC) - ethiopian tibs. I had a chat with the cook and she said that she only uses extra virgin olive oil (showed me the can) and spices in her tibs. I had some, and it was great. with some cabbage. She gave me a taste of the portobello mushroom tibs and it was delish too.

REALLy - it's November already????? wha???? i weigh tomorrow!

Shelly: Hunting the greatest sport ever!!! Tell your daughter to get him next time. The creek is just down enough for us to get across so off to the blind in the morning. Just over an hour so will not leave till in the morning. Just a meat hunt so will be looking for a doe. I have a 174 5/8 inch class whitetail on the wall. Hunting in east Texas tomorrow so no chance of killing anything like that. But I now hunt for the meat and not the horns (unless it is a "MONSTER" as your daughter, an all of us hunters call them) I also like to call them moss backs, been around so long moss is growing on their backs!!! Low tomorrow is 47 here in town so will actually be a nice cool hunt.

Julie: I eat like a pig the first week. All very low carb but eat when hungry. I also exercise to expedite the ketosis meter, but I eat and eat a lot. Never want to be hungry when just starting. That is just my two cents.

Mjgh06:
The scale will change, but you are right your starting weight was probably higher. But the overall results do not change.

SkinnyB: It will come down for sure.

Dq: Just a big o' hello!!! I went to Dc for my first time during the shutdown for a wedding. I loved it, before I went on plan and I did get a "JUMBO SLICE" late night after some serious drinking. Went to the fish market also and that was awesome. Great town. We staid on scott circle, cant wait to go back.

Hi Julie back, I'm close to my goal weight, but I find having to come here an report my weight, keeps me on track, plus the bonus of have wonderful friendships with a common journey, and they all understand this way of life, so posting, reading on this thread really assist with keeping on the right track, you can it.

Bulldogmom, way to go on the Halloween party,my house is fill with the best yummy chocolate, my daughter is an allergy to food coloring, so all her family sends her only the best chocolates, so it a struggle I,m tell you not to eat, fortunately with the cooler weather I can make myself a rich hot coffee/chocolate drinkit does the trick..sweeten with liquid stevia.

OK the pie crust came out looking good.... it held together when transferred to a plate. And looks good as a chocolate cream pie too! Now to let it cool.

Thanks trini and Kemp! You are both always so supportive and I truly appreciate it! I was starving today so ended up eating more than normal. Hopefully the appetite will lessen in the next few days.

Laura, your chocolate pie looks delicious!

Shelly, your daughter sounds like my kind of girl! I'm not a hunter but all my friends and family in Missouri always hunt every year. I do like to target shoot though! Hitting a deer at 180 yards is pretty darn impressive!

Mjgh06, I had a 5 lb gain when it bought my new scale. Not a good feeling! Your success so far is still the same so keep smiling and keep up the good work!

Bulldogmom, great job at the party! I'm with you, chips and dip can be tempting! Good job resisting!

Skinny, a few tootsie rolls is a minor blip. It will come right back off!

DQ, those Ethiopian tibs sound yummy! Yes, hard to believe its November! Supposed to be a lot colder for us tomorrow too.

Don't forget to set back clocks tonight! Have a great night!

Laura: Pie looks great

Dq: I will let you know next time back, prolly feb. or march.

Shelly: Thanks will let you know when I get back home.

Julie: You got it. I know it is hard because we are such dedicated dieters. But the first week please eat till full, never get hungry and eat lots of fat that keeps the appetite down. Don't worry about the calories till next week. So glad you are back and focused.

Trinigirl:
Thanks I am ready to go. That is great your husband hunts also. Keep you in protein for sure.
