Good Luck BulldogMom!!! So proud of you for getting out there and doing a 5K!!! And jealous! LOL One of these days...... We'll all be waiting to hear how it goes!

Trini, how are you feeling? I hope you're resting this weekend.

Laura, it will definitely stick!!! You're doing so awesome!

Shelly, I hate when that happens. The bounces are making me nuts too, but you know it will be back down and hopefully take some friends along with it!

Welcome mjgh06! I totally understand about not weighing every day! Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't, just for my sanity!

DQ, how are you doing?

Down another pound today! So excited, that puts me right at 90 pounds gone since February. REALLY REALLY hoping I can lose 10 more pounds this month, but at this point in the game that's not really too likely. We'll see how it goes! I have noticed my jeans are getting looser, so that's a good sign!

Swiss Chard great greens for thyroid

FYI, as the "hypo" crew knows, kale & spinach are bad for the thyroid & can slow metabolism. I just discovered Swiss Chard as a nice alternative to romaine or arugula for salads or green smoothies.

We had a Great get together today with my Husbands side of the family. Rained off and on and a High temp of 52! But still fun and I stayed LC! I made a Yummy brocolli, cauliflour salad with bacon and a bit of onion. So Good and I got so many compliments on it!
Got a Letter today that I Had to share with ya'll! My son got into the National Honor Society!! He got asked to apply and honestly I didn't think he'd get in since he doesn't have much in the way of leadership but he did it! I'm so thrilled and So incredibly proud! He is one smart cookie!

I have a trip to California coming up this month. Going there for the birth of my nephew. Being back around family, and friends is going to be a challenge in itself as they are all carb addicts lol!

Hi everyone! Hope you all have had a wonderful day! Beautiful summer day here in Va! It was almost 90 today and sure didn't feel like fall!!!
Kinda struggling with a sore throat and just plain tired today. Did get out for a run, but energy was definitely down.
It is going around here and with all my time on planes, I am not surprised it is getting me already! Have a wonderful Sunday and talk to you all soon.....

It's squash season. Yesterday we harvest the squash and wash and placed in the cold weather room..we also made some yummy soup.

Susan hope you are feeling a lot better today..take care sending you healing prayers.

Amber, just stick to your plans, eat the protein, add some yummy fat and vegetables, hopefully when they see how great you are doing you can lead them out of the high carbs, we all deal with either family and friends that eat higher carb foods..we have to decide what is best for us..and in the case of many people who has embrace this way of life ''the prove is in the weight loss and better health..stay strong we are here for you

Wow Laura, I knew it would stick but a down wards move, YES...

Welcome aharris, this site and this thread as been one of my most helpful tools in my journey to better health and wellbeing...you can do this.

Skinny thanks posting on the green vegetables, I have never been tested but one afternoon last week on the Dr. Oz show he was looking at nails and he said that peeling nails might be a symptoms of thyroid problem and I,be had peeling nails all my life..and so has my daughter, although I've notice they are much better since I started eating lower carbs, but because we grow both spinach and kale I eat a lot of it, I do eat swiss chard as well..I love my greens.

MtherGoos, thanks for asking I,m doing a little better wish I had more energy just have a lot to do around here..farm life..always busy.
I am so very happy about your loss..you will lose that 10lbs and even if the scale does not registered it your dress size will, you already look far smaller than you weight indicates

Welcome mjgh to our challenged looking forward to getting to know you..I have found this thread and site a great tool for my health and well being..

Bulldogmom, good to read that you got the plumber in and all is well.. good to have friend and family sharing this way of eating it sure makes it easier..hold on waiting for news and pictures of the run.. I'm sure you rocked it all

Low carb smoothie challenge

So far so good. Average about 1 lb loss per day. I only weigh every couple days or so. I was just so tired of meats, eggs & bacon. I will resume Atkins next month. My goal is to lose 15 this month (will be happy with 170-174)

Thanks everybody! My house guests just left and we all had a great time. The race/obstacle course was brutal. People were being carted off on backboards with neckbraces and IVs. So I feel empowered to have made it to the end. I'm sure my time was really bad but we had to stop for my sister who got injured and then stop at the obstacles to wait for others to go through them. I have bruises and scrapes after falling several times. I even stepped on a snake. LOL But I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life. We met some celebrities that even though we have no clue as to who they are. Another runner posted a great youtube video of the obstacles that we went through. I'm not sure if I can share the link. Everyone is sore today but we're making plans to do this again next year. And I have to say that some of the zombies singled me out to chase down because they saw that I was heavier than everyone in the group. Imagine their surprise when the fat girl proved she could run. LOL Next year I hope to be a lot smaller and a lot faster.

Hi Ladies,
Hope y'all have had a wonderful Sunday. Still dealing with this dang sore throat and no energy. Guess, I just have to still take it easy. Mainly worked in the yard a little and watched football and did very little else. I tend to have a hard time allowing myself to be lazy.... Need to not beat myself up for having a quiet day (seems so stupid, I know).....
I will be anxious to see what the scale says. Have been scouring this site for some recipes. Need some good snack and dessert recipes.
Back in a bit......

Susan try a little Thyme tea. 6 to 8 oz water, boil water add 1 1/2 Tablespoons thyme let steep for 10 mins. Really should use honey if you're going to sweeten this but yeah not so low carb so maybe just choke it down. This stuff taste awful! But even my son at age 11 would ask for it cuz it works. A few sips here and there will do the trick.

Okay so I don't think I will make my goal this month of 10lbs so I decided to add in exercise. I hate exercising so much, the only thing I have ever found that I like is roller skating. I don't see it as exercise. I played roller derby for a little over a year but things got in the way plus I broke my arm and that delayed me getting back on a team. So anyways I am extremely out of shape now. I have a crap load of workout dvds that I never workout to so I figured I should start one. I started today with hip hop abs, I figured I would start out with an easier one instead of going to the T25 or Insanity. Baby steps. I don't want to quit like I always do so hopefully telling you all will make me keep at it.....we will see

Thanks Skinny for sharing about the Kale and Spinach. I did not know that and have borderline hypothyroidism. My dad has it and I don't think he was ever told that. We have always been big green eaters including spinach and kale. One of my favorite dishes is the Zuppa Tuscana soup from Olive Garden. I make it homemade with lots of kale. I guess that will become a no-no for me, at least the kale part.

Congrats Shelly on your son's honor.

Laura and DQ, you are doing so well on your weight loss!

Bulldogmom That obstacle course sounded Amazing! Glad you made it through.

Susan and Trini are you feeling any better? You should try taking a double or even triple dose of vitamin B12 and B1. B1 is a great energy booster and B12 helps keep red blood cells healthy and helps regulate the digestive and nervous system. They both seem to work together very well. Also, don't forget the probiotics. At the first sign of feeling off or sick, I take 500mg of B1 and 4000mcg of B12 each day for at least a week. I usually start to feel better by the first evening, but continue for the week just to make sure.

Princessmommy, I want to see pics of the cedar chest when u finish..plz... I love woodworking, well anything I can make at home.

I don't know if I am doing well or not. I haven't tracked my weight yet, but I do feel more energetic. I just start this diet Saturday. I am doing a modified Atkins/Juddd program because it seemed to fit my eating habits the most. Here's what I have eaten so far. Not much I know. I will try to increase it today.
Saturday - 1 serving bacon/cheese quiche and 4oz pulled pork 8 carbs total day
Sunday - ate nothing 1carb from coffee creamer
So far today - 1 serving bacon/cheese quiche

Well, I hope everyone has a WOnderful Monday! Keep at it.

Jumping in for October ... BHAG (big hairy audacious goal) is sub 220 (which is 100kg for those who do metric). But 225 is probably more realistic...

Sept 30 - 231.5
Oct 4 - 230.5
Oct 5 - 229.5 - nice ... hope it sticks
Oct 6 - 229.5 - so far so good
Oct 7 - 228.5 - I like it!

So grateful that the scale is moving, and extremely pleased with blood sugar numbers, it is nothing short of a miracle ... 7 day average 97, with no medication and no exercise other than walking a couple of miles most days.

Good luck on your journeys all...

Baby steps. I don't want to quit like I always do so hopefully telling you all will make me keep at it.....we will see
I think if there is something you like doing, you should do that. You don't have to do some crazy workout routine, just moving your body more than usual will have a beneficial effect. And if you hate what you're doing, you probably won't stick to it.

And if you think about it, roller skating involves balance which will work your core, it'll definitely work your legs and you will get your heart rate up, sounds like a workout to me.

Of course, my idea of exercise is walking to work, so what do I know
