I thought that this must be like weight loss...the fat is just sitting fighting to come off, then finally it does. I have never been a patient person. I am so happy I did not give up.

It felt so good to see 179 on the scale! (I stepped on it twice)

Now I know that I can keep going and reach my goal.
Hooray!!!
So happy for you...I can't wait to be where you are! I'm almost in the 180's but the 170's is where I start to look more like "myself" - at least previously! I like your analogy - my blender is broken though, so I haven't been able to do smoothies that way for a while :-(

Alex -
Thanks for the support. I see you have similar goals to me (200 - 140), so you understand how exhilarating it is to get to each phase..90s..80s..70s...I know that once I get past each milestone, the weight seems to come off. I have a natually muscular frame, so it takes me longer to lose weight. Ironically, the more I exercise, the more I gain, so I have to focus more on what I eat and just do cardio 4x a week. I stalled for a while in the 90s to 80s and was so frustrated. I actually stopped atkins and just ate vegetables for a week to reset my body. This might not work for everyone, but I was working on 'trial and error', since upping my fat content, eating more meat, working out more, just was not cutting it. Now thankfully, I have found a groove and for now the weight is coming off. I hope to keep losing steadily at least 10 lbs per month.

According to a new study from Harvard University, the intake of processed meat is associated with lower semen quality in men. Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health presented on the link between bacon and male fertility at the 2013 American Society for Reproductive Medicine conference Monday.

Drawing their male subjects from Massachusetts General Hospital Fertility Center, the team analyzed sperm samples of 156 volunteers and compared them to each participant's food intake, as reported on a food intake questionnaire. After adjusting their statistical models for other factors, such as age and body mass index, the team found a negative association between processed meat -- including hamburgers, hot dogs and bacon -- and sperm quality.

"Processed meat was associated with lower sperm concentration and morphology," lead researcher Dr. Myriam Afeiche, of the university's Department of Nutrition, wrote in an email to The Huffington Post. (Morphology refers to the structure and appearance of the sperm.)

While the team found that eating more than one serving of bacon, or other processed meats, related to diminished semen quality, the study also noted a positive association between male fertility and fish consumption.

According to the research, white meat fish like cod and halibut were associated with a higher percentage of normal sperm. Salmon, tuna and other dark meat fish, on the other hand, were related to a higher total sperm count.
One of the things I take issue with is that they call bacon, processed meat. I don't think bacon should be in the same category as a hot dog, pre-made hamburger patties or the lunch meat that comes pre-packaged. I wonder why the title of this article singled out bacon and not hot dogs? Oh well, I had my cholesterol results come back great so more bacon for me while the guys go off and make babies.

Thanks Alex! I have two girls, 7 yrs and 4 yrs. The 7 yr old had the stomach bug. Unfortunately for us, the 24 hr bugs are always a 48-72 hr event. She's been better since lunchtime and eating again so tonight we should all get some good sleep. Good luck with your little one! I don't miss those sleepless nights.

I'm taking notes from you because I have a muscular build also. I hate my calves and there's no hope for them. My sister is skinny and has big calves. I'm so conflicted on what types of exercise that I should be doing. I'm thinking of doing cardio 2-3x a week and then toning exercises 2-3x. I won't work my legs specifically since they seem to be getting toned from the running. I want to train for these 5ks that have obstacle courses. The last one made me realize that I need to work on arm strength.

oh mycataz - i am not getting full body plastic surgery- i'm saggy but not very badly. It's a pretty huge operation, too. I might consider a lower face lift sometime, though -- my neck is pretty saggy.

But I also love the parmesan coated chicken.

5 boneless skinless chicken breast
1 8 oz italian cheese shredded (Walmart brand)
2 tbs spinach artichoke dip (bought at Walmart)
2 tbs margarine (country crock)
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 tbs heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup per person romaine lettuce
1 cup mushroom
salt and pepper to taste

Directions
Additional Items needed: baking sheet med-fry pan non-stick tinfoil stirring utensil spatula meat club spoon

Preheat oven to 375. Line a baking sheet with non-stick tinfoil.

Lay out chicken breasts and pound using meat club until at least 1/2 inch thick (mine were already thin enough out of the package). Using a spoon generously coat each piece with the spinach artichoke dip. Then salt and pepper to taste.

Using half of the shredded cheese, make a thick center line of cheese across each chicken breast. Start at one end of breast and roll up to the other end. Place each on baking sheet at least 1 inch apart. Put in oven for 35 mins or until done.

While the chicken breasts are cooking, place margarine in med-fry pan on stovetop on medium. Once margarine is melted, add mushrooms and cook for 10mins occasionally stirring.

Next, add in chicken broth to mushrooms and turn up to med-high. Once it starts bubbling, add in heavy cream and salt and pepper to taste. Stir and turn down to simmer on low until chicken is done.

When chicken is done, remove from oven, and turn off stovetop. Arrange plates with 1/2 cup romaine lettuce chunks. Place chicken rolls on top of lettuce, Cover each with a few spoonfuls of mushroom broth and top all with remaining cheese.

I have a muscular build too, have forever. My calves are still firm ( Or at least firm again! Lol) but have shrunk some. Couldn't wear zip up boots last winter but I can get in them now.

I have always found that I do not lose weight if I do not get a good night's rest.
I am glad my little ones (2 and 4) have been good sleepers since birth and "allow" me to sleep from 9pm until 6am.
The times when I get less than 6 hours of sleep, I tend to retain water...go figure!

Ok chicken recipes... where to start?

Chicken Primavera Casserole
Primavera
1 chicken breast
olive oil
salt and pepper
1/4 red onion
1/4 green pepper, chopped
1/4 yellow pepper, chopped
3 small zucchini, Julianned
1C Italian blend cheese
veggies of choice
garlic cream sauce

Garlic Cream Sauce
olive oil
1 Tbsp coconut flour
1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced
1/4 C white wine
1/3 C frozen chopped spinach
1/2 C HWC
1/4 C water
1/2 - 1 C shredded parmesan (not the green can stuff)
3 oz Cream cheese

For Garlic Cream Sauce:
Drizzle a little olive oil in the pan, add garlic and saute for just a moment or two, do not burn. Add the coconut flour and cook for a moment. Add HWC, water, wine and spinach to the flour mixture. Bring to a boil. Add cream cheese stir until blended. Add Parmesan and stir until blended. Set aside.

Primavera:
Cut chicken breast into bite sized pieces. Saute chicken in oilive oil with salt and pepper. Set aside. Dice or chop your veggies and saute in a bit of olive oil with salt and pepper until they are soft. Set aside. I used broccoli and cauliflower as the extra veggies so I steamed them in the microwave. Saute zucchini. Mix zucchini with cooked chicken, veggies and sauce. Spread into 8x8 baking dish and cover with cheese. Bake 25 minutes at 350 or until cheese is brown and dish is bubbly hot.

Now the added bonus! I made the full amount of sauce, so I took the rest of the spinach and added more cream cheese to make Italian creamed spinach! Divine!

I also pound them and fill them with cream cheese, green onion and bacon crumbles roll them up dip them in egg and coat them in with a mix of Parmesan and coconut flour or just parm if ya want then bake them.

cook them in the crockpot with cream cheese and salsa

cut into bite sized pieces and saute in butter and olive oil with Italian seasonings and garlic with some fresh mushrooms, add 1/4 C HWC and allow to reduce into sauce. Serve over Julianned zucchini "noodles"

If you need more ideas I'll gladly search the cookbook I'm compiling

I seriously need a restaurant. Laura's Low Carb ... ok so I can't have it until I can think of a catchy name.

Oh I got the cutest pan ever today! Since I'm playing with baking recipes and don't want to waste food or ingredients I got a 4x4 pan. It's just so cute. Since I'm just cooking for 1 I can't eat an 8x8 pan of something before it goes bad (or shouldn't eat). Plus it saves ingredients if I don't like how something turns out the first time.

A good night's sleep definitely does the body good. I'm also happy to say that my pumpkin pie experiment was a success. If it doesn't show up on the scale, then its a keeper. I can't do the pumpkin bake recipe with the cream cheese so I had to improvise.

Laura, I think it's safe to say that if you ever throw a LCF dinner party, we'll all be there! LOL

Hit a new low today!!!! 206.6. Still don't think I'll hit Onederland this month, but I'm always hopeful!! Leaving on the 31st of this month to go back to Kansas to spend a week with my kids, so I'm excited about that too. I find it's even easier to stay on plan when traveling, so I usually get a drop when I come home. My daughter is also going to take me to my first yoga class while I'm there. Can't wait!!

Yeagerdee, it's coming off though! You're doing great!! I don't know your age, but the older I get, the slower it comes off. I used to be able to lose 100 pounds in 4 months. Not any more, but that's ok, it's still coming off. And the longer it takes, the more likely that we're actually making permanent changes this time and won't have to do this again.

Thanks! Hang in there. A lot of us yo-yo around before getting lower. I gained 3 lbs last month before the scale started moving again.

I'm 38. Okay I'm gonna "keep hope alive" that I can make 10lbs down this month.

Congratulations! You'll be hitting onederland in no time! And then I think Laura should throw a party with all of her recipes. I can't wait to hear all about your yoga class.

I'm averaging about 8-10 pounds a month. Any loss is a good loss! You're doing great, so enjoy it!

We're the same age. I'm all over the place with my monthly losses. I average about 6 lbs a month but I've had months where I lost nothing, lost 2 lbs, and gained 3. So far this is one of my best monthly losses. I'm thinking my body gets stubborn and stalls before it starts dropping weight at a pretty good clip again.
