Thanks Shelly! I'm experimenting with pumpkin pie recipes so that usually spells disaster for me on the scales. I found a simple recipe where I could just switch out the condensed milk with hwc. I think carbs for two whole pies would be like somewhere around 55 carbs and that's with me rounding up. Soup sounds good! You'll get back to 140. You've seen that number so you know its possible!

I'm only going off of my experiences. But there are a lot of things that stall me that other people have no issues with. For whatever reason, sausage can stall me where bacon won't. Can he switch out the sausage for the bacon? Do you make your own dressing? The bottled stuff can have some hidden sugars. I just take the Hidden Valley ranch packets and mix it with 1 cup mayo and 1 cup hwc. It gets a little thick so before putting it on my salad, I'll mix in some olive oil to get it to the consistency that I like. And I know you say you aren't hungry, but it could be that he just isn't eating enough. I swear by the fat bombs. You get a chocolate fix, good fats in and some extra calories when you aren't hungry.

I didn't check the blue cheese dressing... I though it was low carb, will have to check... he doesn't eat sausage to often... but was needing a change... I do good on eating one patty sausage in the morning with my breakfast... I guess I need to check the itailian dressing he marinated the pork chops in for a different taste too... my husband is 6'3 and weighs 268 this morning... he has been going up and down on the scales for days... He got made at me this morning when he told me it was not worth it and I told him to just give up.... and tried to explain to him that I have lost alot of weight and the scales haven't always showed a lost and sometimes it will even go up several pounds... but him being a male he just doesn't believe me... every morning when he gets on the scales I pray there is a whoosh... he so needs one right now... He also drinks alot of water... several bottles a day about 8 so he is getting alot of water

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!
i knew that i have been forgetting something really important the past week -- checking in here! I had to san diego to cover a plastic surgery meeting (oh my the post massive weight loss sessions were eye-boggling) and am back -- i haven't weighed since -- last friday or saturday? cause when i got back the news has been just nuts! non-stop. maybe things on the hill will calm down - at least for a few days. So i will weigh tomorrow. ALSO -- the dang plane rides - my feet were incredibly swollen and I was afraid i had a few pounds of water in each of them!

DQ are you having plastic surgery? I will be so glad when I can finally have mine done... still need to lose about 60 lbs I think , but when I reach 200 I am going to go and see a plastic surgeon and see what they think... I still have alot of fat, but it just hangs on me and its causing alot of problems with my knees...

I have so much I wanted to post, but I will come back this afternoon and do it. I just wanted to give a quick note to mycattaz, I know that any time I have Italian Dressing I go up a pound. So if he marinated the pork chops in that, it might have something to do with it. Also, for me, pork chops and sausage both cause me to retain water, so that may have something to do with it too. I know it's so insanely frustrating when the scale isn't doing what it should be doing! We're doing all the right things, and the scale doesn't hold up it's end of the bargain by moving down! There are so many variables, but the bottom line is, as long as he keeps doing what he should be doing, it WILL happen. It WILL move down. I would definitely be careful though with the hidden sugars in things like sausage and bottled dressings. My BF started in March at 260, and he's 61 now so he loses a lot slower than he used to, but he's down to 205 now. He didn't get a big Whoosh when he started, and there are days when the scale goes UP by as much as 4 pounds, but he's just been really consistent and stuck with it, and eventually that scale moves.

Guy's make a good sugar free bbq sauce that you can order from Netrition. I use that on chicken or ribs for my BF. But that won't help you tonight! LOL. I've also pounded the chicken breasts out to be really thin and wrapped them up with some cream cheese and green onions inside and just put some olive oil and seasoning salt on the outside of them. That bakes up to be pretty tasty. Or I've also dipped them in olive oil and then parmesan cheese and they bake up kind of crispy. You could also use a mix of crumbled pork rinds and parmesan cheese as the coating, but the pork rinds can cause you to retain water and he doesn't need that right now. Those are just a few ideas, but Laura probably has even more ideas. She's always got great recipes!

OH! Another idea that I just made this week is that I cut the chicken breasts up into bit size pieces and dipped them in the olive oil and parmesan cheese and baked them until they were crispy and then dipped them in blue cheese dressing. Like a Chicken Nugget. You could dip them in just about anything you wanted to.

I am by far an expert but have you considered that he is not eating enough? That doesn't sound like much for someone his size. It may also help to calculate his protein requirements...

Your hubby sounds like my hubby, we are doing this together as well. He reacts the same way as well when the scale acts crazy. I tell him "you have hormones just like me, so don't expect perfection on the scale". However, everytime we do Induction he loses 20 lbs for whatever period of time we commit. One thing I have come to realize is that men need to eat. My husband goes hours and hours without eating, comes home starving, and doesn't lose any weight. I tell him all the time "EAT" This is not a starvation diet.

Now that I think of it. It's been 2 weeks of induction for him (DH). I might kick him out of Induction and throw him into OWL. This way he can start eating nuts and seeds. I can buy one of those huge containers at costco or sams and he can snack on them in the car or at work...since he spends most of his work hours driving from town to town, he can at least get some calories and fat in....hmmmm, sounds like a plan. I'm gonna mention it to him tonight to see what he thinks.

Start Date: August 1, 2013!
...finally in the 70's!

Finally!!!!!
It seemed like the scale was stuck on 180 for the past couple days.
Then I was making a fruit smoothie in the blender for my little girls & it was taking forever for the fruit to blend. It was just churning so slowly, then finally whoosh it turned & there was the smoothie!
I thought that this must be like weight loss...the fat is just sitting fighting to come off, then finally it does. I have never been a patient person. I am so happy I did not give up.

It felt so good to see 179 on the scale! (I stepped on it twice)

Now I know that I can keep going and reach my goal.

Yay! Great analogy! I can't wait to get to 80s. I was hoping to see the 80s sometime next week.

mycattaz - It definitely sounds like he is not eating enough for his size. My husband is only 5'11 and 170lbs and eats a lot more than that. Here's a chicken recipe I made the other night and they were delish. My family loved them. Here's the recipe - it's for five so you would have to adjust it. But I also love the parmesan coated chicken.

5 boneless skinless chicken breast
1 8 oz italian cheese shredded (Walmart brand)
2 tbs spinach artichoke dip (bought at Walmart)
2 tbs margarine (country crock)
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 tbs heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup per person romaine lettuce
1 cup mushroom
salt and pepper to taste

Directions
Additional Items needed: baking sheet med-fry pan non-stick tinfoil stirring utensil spatula meat club spoon

Preheat oven to 375. Line a baking sheet with non-stick tinfoil.

Lay out chicken breasts and pound using meat club until at least 1/2 inch thick (mine were already thin enough out of the package). Using a spoon generously coat each piece with the spinach artichoke dip. Then salt and pepper to taste.

Using half of the shredded cheese, make a thick center line of cheese across each chicken breast. Start at one end of breast and roll up to the other end. Place each on baking sheet at least 1 inch apart. Put in oven for 35 mins or until done.

While the chicken breasts are cooking, place margarine in med-fry pan on stovetop on medium. Once margarine is melted, add mushrooms and cook for 10mins occasionally stirring.

Next, add in chicken broth to mushrooms and turn up to med-high. Once it starts bubbling, add in heavy cream and salt and pepper to taste. Stir and turn down to simmer on low until chicken is done.

When chicken is done, remove from oven, and turn off stovetop. Arrange plates with 1/2 cup romaine lettuce chunks. Place chicken rolls on top of lettuce, Cover each with a few spoonfuls of mushroom broth and top all with remaining cheese.

pinky, stress can stall you or even make you gain weight. Don't worry so much about your eating right now as long as you stay on track, concentrate on you and getting better emotionally. Oh and give up the chocolate and peanuts LOL.

yeagerdee, you just seemed to have a good whoosh yesterday. Give it some more time, it will move again.

WhooHOO Skinny!! WTG!

Take this Huffington Post BACON story with a grain of SALT - but it's interesting..

Men trying to conceive may want to hold off on the bacon.

According to a new study from Harvard University, the intake of processed meat is associated with lower semen quality in men. Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health presented on the link between bacon and male fertility at the 2013 American Society for Reproductive Medicine conference Monday.

Drawing their male subjects from Massachusetts General Hospital Fertility Center, the team analyzed sperm samples of 156 volunteers and compared them to each participant's food intake, as reported on a food intake questionnaire. After adjusting their statistical models for other factors, such as age and body mass index, the team found a negative association between processed meat -- including hamburgers, hot dogs and bacon -- and sperm quality.

"Processed meat was associated with lower sperm concentration and morphology," lead researcher Dr. Myriam Afeiche, of the university's Department of Nutrition, wrote in an email to The Huffington Post. (Morphology refers to the structure and appearance of the sperm.)

While the team found that eating more than one serving of bacon, or other processed meats, related to diminished semen quality, the study also noted a positive association between male fertility and fish consumption.

According to the research, white meat fish like cod and halibut were associated with a higher percentage of normal sperm. Salmon, tuna and other dark meat fish, on the other hand, were related to a higher total sperm count.

Two nights of no sleep. I feel bloated and miserable. I also did have a few too many veggies yesterday.
Aw bulldogmom, I feel for ya! How old is your little one? Mine is 2.5 and still only sleeps through the night about once every month or so Crossing my fingers for you to get some rest soon!
