So decided to do the fat fast and started on Friday - umm, not sure how I did it the first time round. Have been so hungry and famished, have had to have a small meal each day to keep me going. Am trying to stick with coconut oil, cream cheese, macadamia nuts and pork scratchings. Gave in on Friday evening and had some lc chilli, same on Saturday (its only 5carbs so figured all was not lost) with some salami (the one with no extras like dextrose). Today's give-in was about 59gr cheese (1 carb) and some chicken stock (no sugar or yeast).

And what did I lose? Nada! That includes 45min a day on the cross trainer, two powerplate training programmes (45min) and some weight lifting. No inches lost either! I've been training for years so don't expect any new muscle.

Getting so frustrated as at this rate, there is no way my dress will fit in less than two weeks...

I was running on the treadmill every day and getting decent losses most days. But I've taken a week off to let an injured foot heal and I'm getting great losses. I'm not sure if its because I've temporarily stopped exercising, stopped the hwc or both. I've seen where other people cut back on their exercising and weight loss has picked up for them also. I'm a big advocate for exercise but I'm thinking that I won't have to hit it hardcore to get good results. Not sure what I'll do next week when I get back on the treadmill.

I can completely relate to this. My dh is doing a low-fat diet and cheating on the weekends. He lost 36 lbs in 12 wks. Its taken me 7 1/2 months to lose the same amount. I really just want to weigh less than him. I don't think that's ever happened. Hang in there and you'll start losing again.

Tiggy -
I can tell you from experience that if you have a muscular frame to begin with and do too much exercise that will bulk up those muscles, your muscles will swell, hold water and you will gain weight. This is why all exercise programs are not for everyone. I was doing p90x religiously and watching my carbs & gained weight. It was not until I stopped doing p90x and just do power walking or jog for 45 min daily, that I started losing 3-5 lbs per week and inches off my thighs, waist etc.
I would try just walking or light jogging for 4 days a week and see what happens.
Your muscles are swelling & holding onto water, so you need to take a break.
Good luck.:

Thanks SkinnyB!

I really hope so! I was only doing the powerplate for the last few months due to injuries so assumed because it wasn't that vigorous, it couldn't be impacting the scales.

I envy you doing P90X! I bought the dvds just before my foot op a few years ago, and have been unable to do it since!

Unfortunately, walking or running are out for me - blasted feet! Nine surgeries later and am worse than when I started! I only jst started the cross trainer this week after recouping from achilles surgery. Going to try swimming tonight with my dodgy shoulder!

Hi everybody! Loving all the new pictures you guys are posting. Shelly and Trini, you both look beautiful.

My weight bounced up over the weekend, I'm not really surprised and frankly had expected it. I did a lot of physical activity working in the yard and had a lot of muscle sorenes--so I expected some water weight from that. AND, I was pretty dehydrated even though I drink at least 68 ounces of water per day and most days close to a gallon. I was having some major cramps at night, so I started salting everything like mad, drinking powerade zero and taking magnesium, soaking in epsom salts and using the epsom salt lotion. Tonight no cramps, and my weight is up--hello hydration.

I'm leaving tomorrow to go to California on a business trip. I'm planning to take some hwc, 100 calorie pack guacamole and some cauliflower pizza crust to dip in the guac on the plane. I think I'll make SugarFreeSheila's breakfast shake before I go. It's a 6 hour flight, but I think between the shake and the guac/cauli crust and some macadamia nuts, I should be ok.

I'm trying to get myself mentally prepared because I retain water really bad every time I fly. I will check back in with you guys when I get back this weekend.

Not the best pic but hey it's one of me in the new house. I'm just always amazed at the hair. I know it's there but it's always up so when I see it down it surprises me.

Everyone is doing so great, wish I could say the same. I stayed off the scale for a week cause I am obsessed with it and still nothing. I am working out everyday eating less than 15 carbs per day and I can not seem to lose weight. This is the first time I have really done low carb and I just don't think it is working for me. My patience is really being tested. I have always counted calories to lose weight and never seem to have a problem losing that way. Now that I have been low carb for almost a month without cheating I am scared to even introduce carbs back in to start counting my cals like I have always done. I have taken out cheese, processed meat, HWC, I have looked at calories to make sure I am not eating too much, I have upped fat content with coconut oil. I am stuck and not sure what to do. My husband is in the same boat. he is not losing much either. He is in the army and HAS to get the weight off in a short time and it is frustrating that I can't seem to help him. Everytime I feel like giving up I start to think of this whoosh of weight is due to come off but it just doesn't happen. FEEL LIKE SCREAMING
So this is my weight update:
Oct 1- 156
Oct 15- 156.......don't want a miracle but a healthy 1-2 lbs a week would be nice
Sorry for my rant

I wouldn't throw in the towel yet but if you feel like counting calories worked for you, then do what is going to make you feel better. I see though that you are close to goal weight and I'm assuming that your husband is also since he's in the army. You're going to lose slower the closer you get to goal. We have some ladies here that have been inching closer to their goal. Maybe a lb or 2 a month in losses. I have a ton to lose and sometimes get just a 2 lb loss a month. There are so many things that can be tweaked though that might give you results without having to quit. Some people do better upping their carbs a little bit. If you are working out, your body might need that little extra bit. But then, some people find they get better losses when they cut back on the exercise. Some people do a meat and egg only fast and it jump starts their losses. I've tried it and it does work and isn't unbearable. Bodybuilders will do meat and egg fasts before a competition to give them that cut look. I know you've already done some tweaking though but I'd still give it time to see what you need to do to be successful. Even though we're all here doing Atkins Induction, I don't think any of us are doing it exactly the same. We've all had to do some tweaking. Good luck and sorry for the ramble. I really do want to see you succeed and can feel your frustration.

Good Morning All.

I am craving dill pickles so I imagine the advice on upping my salt content is accurate. I had 1 cup of chicken broth last night. Still have zero appetite. I could only force down half a boiled egg this morning. Today starts week 2. I officially lost 8.6lbs in week 1. Last night I could not sleep. Horrible leg pain and butt pain. I am not sure if it is lack of potassium or the remaining glucose leaving my muscles. Did anyone else experience this type of pains. Not leg cramps. Just constant aching.

My diet consists mostly of eggs and meat right now. I usually have an omelet for lunch and dinner. I will put taco meat, pork chop, steak, chicken, whatever meat I have on hand into it. I was eating a portabella mushroom everyday and even decided to drop that thinking I could have a problem with that too. My calories ranged from 1400-1600 and now I have dropped them to 1200 the last 3 days which has dropped my carbs to around 5. I think my body is just screwed up from WLS I had years ago. It just refuses to let go of the weight and I am constantly hungry no matter how many calories I have eaten. I am gonna stick with it and hope for the best I guess.

Hi girls,
It has been a crazy few days and am just now catching up on everyone's posts. You guys are doing awesome this month. I am up and down and pound or so. I need to probably weigh daily to keep up with things better and of course plan better and not let myself get hungry.
I have been not working out much this past week due to the crud that I had. Back in the saddle today. Hope you all have an awesome day!

You are all doing so great!

I haven't had a chance to get to the gym to be weighed, they were busy when I was there last. Hopefully tomorrow!

We've finally got our treadmill set up and I got on it for a half an hour yesterday. Ran 10 minutes (not straight) and walked at a fast pace the rest - all at an incline of 4-5 (whatever that amounts to). Plan (hope) to add 2 days of treadmill workouts to the 2 kettlebell classes and hopefully in a couple of weeks add in a day of power lifting every couple of weeks.

Whenever my weight loss stalls, I reset my system the natural way & it always restarts the weight loss.
Try a couple days of just eating raw vegetables...uncooked & just use olive oil, red wine vinegar & squeeze 1/2 a lemon for dressing.
For example - Breakfast would be a cucumber & tomato salad with 1/2 avocado sliced in cubes. Lunch would be a large green salad with variety of veggies sprinkled with a few raw almonds (100 cal snack pack...about 20 almonds). Dinner would also be a salad (different greens than used at lunch to add variety). No cheese. No protein shakes. No meat. Just vegetables. May also drink Yogi herbal tea (found at Target)...Yogi Green Tea, Yogi Detox Tea, Yogi Weightless Water Tea are some of the flavors. This will aid in digestion. Sweeten with Splenda.
I usually do this for 2 days then resume Atkins and I will lose 1-3 lbs.

Christina, if it were me, I would cut out the exercise for a week or so and see how you do. Personally, I can't add in veggies, it would make me gain. That would be way more carbs than I would normally eat. Exercise is great for toning, and wonderful for your overall health, but it's not really necessary for weight loss, and can actually cause you not to show a loss on the scale because your muscles may be retaining water. It's all about finding what works for your body, but if it were me, I would stop the exercise for a week and see what happens.

crsrchk, of course you can join in! Welcome!!!

Hope everyone is having a great day so far!!

Oh, I almost forgot! I finally did it, I got rid of all my too big clothes today! I had filled 5 big tubs with clothes and was storing them in the shed. We cleaned out the shed yesterday, and I decided to finally let them go. I started wearing a size 24 in my jeans, and a 3X in jeans, and now I'm wearing a 10 or 12 in my jeans and an XL in my shirts, and a couple of shirts are just a L. So I have PLENTY of clothes to get rid of! They're all at Good will now! That was a leap of faith!

christina, plz don't give up. Looking at what you posted for eating, I see a Lot of protein, more so than fat. Overeating protein can stall some people, and you definitely need a lot of fat on this diet. So I would try to up you fat. Also, what about your water intake? I didn't see how much you were drinking. I know everybody is different and one diet may not work for others. So these are just my suggestions. Have you used a keto-calculator to determine what your goal macros are? If not I would suggest doing so. It will give you a good idea of what your grams for fat, protein, and carbs should be. For me I monitor my % and as long as my fat% is above 70, protein around 20-25 and carbs at 5 or below, that seems to work for me.

Fluffy, yes I had them. You need magnesium and iodized salt.

Crsrchk - yes, plz join us. It is never to late.

Here is my weigh in -

10/5 200lb
10/8 192.1
10/10 186.6
10/11 184.1
10/15 181.8

For all of you who are discouraged by the scale while working out...

I stopped by the gym on my way to an appointment, end of day 2 meals + 1.5 litres of water consumed. Jeans, belt....196.6 lbs, 127.1 of which is lean body mass (up from 125 2 weeks ago) fat down 1 lb. I'm currently up 7 lbs from my low before our Mexico vacation in May but wearing smaller jeans (non stretch for the first time in years). Jeans I tried on in the store 2 months ago and couldn't get over my hips now fit perfectly (currently wearing size 9/10 store brand from Maurice's and Vigoss brand if anyone is curious).

This changes my ultimate goal - I have no idea what weight I want to end up at but will aim for a size 5-7.

Talking to my mom yesterday. She's impressed with how much weight I've lost but thinks my goal weight is too low. I still think it's about where I should be. We'll see when I get closer. At this point I still have a lot to lose.

MtherGoos thank you. The hair is a pain in the butt! It gets everywhere, it gets caught behind me when I'm driving or sitting back in a chair. Yet I can't seem to bring myself to cut it. Most men I'm with freak out if I want to cut it but not John. He wouldn't say anything.

Christina try tweaking your plan a bit and see if that helps. Just know it does work. I've lost 50# in 6 1/2 months. Some months I'd only lose 2-3# but it does work.

Susan good to see ya back, and great to know you are feeling better.

crsrchk it's never to late to join!

Fluffy you just started Induction correct? Cuz it sounds like Induction Flu to me? It will pass.

Sorry for my rant
are you doing Atkins 72? Have you measured....
