September to Remember!!

Hi all

stumbled along this site when i decided to start the low-carb atkins diet again on the 14th this month. Last time i did it was probably 10years ago where i lost the weight(35)lbs going from 210 to 175. Of course thru the years i went away from the diet/lifestyle and gained it back and then some.

Highest peak was 260 as i just kept going up and up and up since the first atkins attempt which many said i would balloon up if i got off it and it sure did.

last few years it's been a roller coaster as i lose some in the spring/summer then gain it back in the fall/winter. I have been losing and keeping off more weight year by year with counting calories and exercise, but man does that get exhausting counting and counting.

So anyway been stuck around the 230 range mainly cuz of beer and the late night eating and sweet tooth. Got a wake up call early this month when my lower back had a bulging disc when playing sports. Some of the worst pain ever !!It gave me time to sit back and realize that my health has been declining and the excess weight has really taken a toll on my body and carb/sugar abuse causing high blood pressure.

So friday the 13 i quit beers and the following day decided to go cold turkey on the rest of the bad carbs/sugar and start atkins again and have not looked back even though at times i really feel in withdrawl mode and stay up late like i'm doing now...lol

so I officially started around 220lbs and as of this morning i'm down to 215.8lbs I haven't been down that low in 7 years
I really feel like I'm going to keep this way of eating as a lifestyle this time.

Although this induction phase is getting crazy as u have to really be creative or u end up eating the same thing over and over. Which can make u sick of the very thing u love.

So i did take a peek at the foodporn and actually tried to re create a few things i saw there. Man o man was that a frickin production!! Especially when ur ravenous I'm trying to juggle four recipes and can invision my self hammering down each dish making me fly around in the small kitchen adding ingredients to like 10 bowls. OMG it was crazy....5 hours later i get a pan of jalepeno poppers bacon wrapped around them cream cheese fried onion, garlic filling. CauliCakes cheesed up and pan fried in coconut oil. made a coating(pork rinds ,almonds, seasoning)to be dipped in. Then trying the revolution roll...yeah right whipping that damn cream of tarter and egg white for an hour and still didn't firm up. So that was a bust!! After all that ate the whole pan of poppers and a few caulicakes the ride was great but the destination left me feeling like i needed to rest on a stretcher foreverrrr.

So yeah i need to get a grasp on this lifestyle but its only the start of the seventh day and i've already lost some pounds. I need to chill a bit on the cheese/meat combo love it to begin with but i don't want to be sitting on the pot for an hour and hardly b able to walk after. I do love the veggies we r allowed so i just have to b creative.

Hopefully as i continue the journey i will b able to come up with some new creations and contribute here as you all seem to b a great group of people with a great goal in overcoming something that is slowly trying to kill us all.

update later....

THX TICKER... i'm in it for the long haul this time around.

I have been having the atkins d-lite treat along with some russel stovers sf candies to cut the edge. still losing weight so i don't think it's hurting my progress. also i have had some assorted shell nuts and keep em under 4 net g a day. not totally sure why nuts r not supposed to b eaten in induction but i have to have some.

Thanks Buck..

It is hard to go places and not partake in the stuff offered.. I have gone off this WOE alot and always regret it by feeling awful and taking days to sometimes a week to get back where I was that now I have just started trying to accept that I cant eat that way anymore.. thats why I have a weight problem, its hard to wrap your brain around this.. but if there is a will there is a way right??? Anyway Congrats to you for getting back on the horse ..KUTGW

Been following the induction pretty close and not losing scale weight. I do feel like i have dropped inches. Prolly not eating enough veggies and eating too many atkins d-lite bars and protein shakes and nuts??

Can't believe when shopping at the grocery store there is like 20% things i'm able to buy. The rest is far from carb friendly

Also the only thing i feel i can eat in the morning is eggs,eggs,eggs...and eggs.
I used to have peanut butter/jelly toast, or oatmeal, or cereal, or a smoothie shake.

Hey Buck,

I personally cant have the atkin bars or shakes as they stall me, I try to stay with just whole foods and meats, I would maybe try a week without that stuff and just focus on your meat and eggs with low carb veggies and see if that helps you.. imo

I havent really tried a to do a detox clense but if you feel like it might help then try it lots of people do it... This WOE is all about finding what works for you, everyone is different and what works for some might not work for others and remember it takes time to get it off, you didnt put it on over nite and you wont lose it overnite ..

good luck
keep us posted

Hey buck, you might want to check out some recipe sites for ideas. One idea my BF and I use regularly came from SugarFreeSheila's website for a breakfast shake. (google the site name)

Sheila's Easy Breakfast Shake
(6 total carbs)
3-oz. cube cream cheese
½ cup pasteurized eggs (Use raw eggs at own risk.)
¼ cup heavy cream
1 T sugar-free syrup - any brand, any flavor!
4 ice cubes
Blend 30 seconds - ice cubes last - and enjoy!
