September Challenge!!

Good morning everyone!

Well onederland is gonna be here for me this month... my goal for the month is 198#. Have been short of goal the last 2 months so I'm setting my sites a bit lower and hope for the better. My secret (well not anymore) goal is to get to 50# gone... or 195#.

Laura, you will see onederland this month! You've been doing great! KUTGW!!!

I will join the challenge for September but I will be on a business trip for three weeks this month and won't be able to weigh. Will try to keep posting though!

My goal this month is to get my focus back and push myself to reach my goal weight within the next two months. I started this journey on 1 Jan and lost 50 lbs in the first 6 months (got down to 170). However, for the last 2 months I've lost my motivation and my weight has been up and down ever since. My goal weight is 160 but I think my intense need to reach that number has decreased since I'm now wearing a size 10 and I feel very comfortable with my appearance. However, in the last month my laid back attitude had me back up to 178 at one point. Each time I've gained weight in the last two months I have been able to get it back off quickly. However, I really want to get to my goal weight and figure out how to maintain without all the weight fluctuations.

Since I will be on a business trip for three weeks I will be in total control of my diet and I won't have my normal family duties to let me get off track. I also hope I can find more time to exercise.

Look forward to reading everyone's posts this month. During the last 8 months, I've truly enjoyed reading about everyone's success and struggles and it has really helped me. Stay strong this month and keep sharing here!

All right, I'll give it another go. Only 4lbs lost in August, but that's better than a gain I guess! Gonna step it up this month, figuratively and literally.

I am starting septembr at about the same weight as the beginning of august, and july, so i'm going to ramp it up a bit this month and try to lose the last <5 pounds. I'm feeling very comfortable and thin, happy and healthy!!!

Hi there -

Can I join in on your September challenge ? I feel it would be very inspiring for me to have people who can relate to what I'm going through.

About me: (just turned) 44 yrs old, I live in Ontario, Canada, professionally employed in a career I love.

I started back doing LC on July 18. Thus far, I have lost 13 pounds. I was hoping for more loss, but haven't been discouraged whatsoever. I even made it through my birthday without even a mouthful of birthday cake. I knew that if I had even a bite, that would've been a kickstart to a downward spiral for me. I'm pleased with my 13 pound loss, but looking back for the last 6 weeks I see how that could've been improved. Firstly, I need to stay away from the sugar-free chocolate. When I think about it - for me, it doesn't even taste good. But it was giving me that sense of satisfaction of having chocolate. Also, I believe I should stay away for SF pop. Also, almond flour. I made some almond flour biscuits - ate all of them in a matter of 3 days. I really enjoyed them - but for now I think I should just stick to the basics and not indulge myself in the "fancy" stuff for now - if you know what I mean.

I would like to share my goals with you for the month of September. I may not post here daily - due to time constraints, but will make effort to do so. I hope I can receive words of encouragement here !

Goals:
1 - no SF treats
2 - limit my SF pop to one a week
3 - weigh once a week, on Thursday morning. No sneaking on the scale whatsoever !!!!!!!!!
4 - implement some sort of exercise. ANYTHING ! Even if its a 10 minute walk around the block, at least 3X a week.
5 - keep my food simple. If I have to read a recipe - then for me, that isn't keeping it simple.
6 - I would be the happiest person around if I can lose 13 pounds ! Fingers crossed !!!!!!!! I know its a high amount, but will strive to meet this goal and be as close as I can to conquer this goal.

I will be here often to support and to receive support !!!

Thanks Shelly! I'm absolutely positive I've got this! This isn't my first trip down LC, but it IS the longest I've kept at it and by far the most successful I've been. I'm looking forward to getting an "in-progress" photo up in my gallery now that I sucked it up and found the closest to "before" I could find and actually posted it

I went for a good 20 minute power walk through the park this morning...need to get back in that habit....I really enjoy it, it's just getting out there and DOING it that is the challenge!

Welcome to the newbies! Welcome back to everyone else! I think all of us can make September better than August. I'm averaging about 7 lbs a month which is low considering I workout everyday. My downfall is my family and their need to go out to eat. I need to practice better self control but not completely at a place where I have willpower all the time. This weekend is a big challenge. Yesterday was a busy day and I didn't drink enough water or get my walking in so I ended up gaining 0.2 lbs. Not a huge deal but I have a birthday party to attend today (a pizza party of all things) and a cookout tomorrow. But I'll set my goal at 192 with a little hope to hit 189.

Don't worry about not losing much in August. I think a lot of us have off months sometimes. I only lost 2 lbs in July, but like you said, at least it wasn't a gain. I'm betting September is going to be a better month for you.

I'm not off to a great start for September. Up 2 pounds.
What the heck is up with my body lately?
All these big gains for absolutely no apparent reason. The only thing I've changed lately is that I started drinking 1 cup of almond milk with 1 TBSP MCT oil in the mornings. There's nothing in any of that that should cause a gain or throw me out of Ketosis, but I did notice that I was STARVING yesterday. To the point that when I was in line at the grocery store, I was fantasizing about grabbing the individual serving package of pop tarts that they had there and scarfing it down right there in line! I didn't cheat though, stayed right on track, and didn't really even eat anything more than I normally would. There really can't be any hidden carbs in anything I eat, because I only eat meat, eggs, and cheese, and occasionally an avocado, but that's only a couple of times a month at the most. I've been avoiding processed meats, haven't even had my beloved bacon lately! Hmmmmm........ I hope this isn't a sign of how September is going to be for me!

I started Monday, after a weekend carb binge! I am down 6.6 pounds, and would like to lose 15 pounds this month

My birthday is on the 13th, and I am having a small freak out over it. I am transitioning careers, and need to transition into a healthier body!

I slept till noon today. TOM is here and my body just needed the extra rest. It's very hot and humid today...thunderstorms are rolling in right now...I am spending today at home, doing light cleaning, watching TV, cooking chicken with mashed cauliflower (my favorite).

I will hop on my stationary bike tonight just to get some exercise in for today.

I lost one pound since yesterday. Hopefully, I will not gain it back by tomorrow morning.

Welcome newbies! We will get this done!!!!

MthrGoos, I had one of those craving things hit me really hard the night before and the night of TOM's appearance. I didn't go off the carb charts though - but I did eat 3 peanut butter cup fat bombs in a row I just couldn't help myself! Since then I've behaved. Last night's dinner for the kids was full carb spaghetti and full carb meat sauce. Last night's dinner for me? 2 hamburger patties with 2 hard fried eggs on top. It was actually delish! Hamburgers with fried eggs on top? Delish?

WTG on resisting the pop-tart urge though I do know how it is....This afternoon I took my son to Mcd's and I DID cave there too...took home a quarter pounder McBLT and promptly gave the bun to the dog took the rest of it, chopped it into pieces and threw it into a 3g net carb flax wrap with extra greenage for filler - spinach and arugula. It was fabulous and I'm still full 4 hours later!

BulldogMom, thanks for the encouragement In another thread in the lobby we're lamenting how losing gets harder when we get older. I'm close to 49, and maybe that's part of it....slowing metabolism or whatever. It sure was easier to lose about 15 years ago. The ONE thing that's super easy is packing it on! UGH!

i am older than any of you -- although i am in four bands and jump around on stage every single weekend -- and losing weight isn't any different now than it was in my 40s, 30s 20s and teens -- it's just HARD, period!
Mthrgoos- re MCT oil -- i haven't found anything con about it - but -- as far as supplements go, meh. for example, i do follow fish oil news, and you really have to take an enormous, gut- wrenching amount of it for it to be beneficial.
SO MCT oil is a supplement and it might help you, or not. Let us know how it goes.

Oh and welcome to newbies -- i found a cache of utz Cracklins today so i had a package of them, two eggs during the day and a tiny amount of steak this evening (throw away the thermometer- it doesn't work - it was overdone, and i don't eat overdone steak. plus it was tough!).

ADD: exercise won't help you lose weight - but it will make your heart stronger-healthier. just saying.

First started Atkins April 1, 2002.
Lost 40 pounds back then and maintained for almost 8 years...then carb creep crept. I've always been low carb, but went hard core again in March 2012.

I had some tuna salad with mayo, and few slices of tomato with a boiled egg chopped up in it for lunch. Then got Hit with a Huge craving for sweets since my son decided to eat a cupcake in front of me so I whipped up some Hwc and chopped up a LC bar in it. Hit the spot but I won't be suprised if the scale goes up tomorrow! Had green beans and 2 fried eggs for supper

Hi Guys,

Can I join you? I'm doing A tweaked up Stillmans and I sometimes slide into Atkins Induction. I will be going between the two and they are very similar. It's just that Stillmans is less fat,,,,a lot less. Therefore when I want to go off it for some variety, yet not throw myself out of the park Atkins is a great treat....

Hi everyone!
Mind if I hope in? I joined the 140 lb. club too, but I can use all the support I can get! and give, too
I have been stuck in the 190's for a while now, and bummed b/c it's 10 lbs over what I was last year BUT...that's the past and this is now, and I've been pretty good so far. My goal is to get to the 180's this month, and then 170's the following, but I am a sloooooow loser (insulin resistance! bah!) so we'll see. I'll be happy with whatever loss I can muster, and even happier with some clothes getting baggy!

I've had an IUD the last couple of years, and I was starting to suspect it was messing with my blood sugars. I got it out last week and sure enough my numbers dropped some, across the board. Not to totally normal levels, but much closer to them than I was before. We'll see if that holds, and helps with weight/fat loss. And then what will happen when TOM returns? Who knows!

Anyhow, happy to be here, hope you don't mind me crashin' the party!

Hope you don't mind me joining in.
I feel like I've been getting nowhere fast with this weight loss lark, I've been doing this that or the other since the beginning of the year and all I've managed to achieve is to GAIN 7 lbs!

Since 17th July I've been getting weighed once a week by a Nurse at a weight management clinic, I keep doing really well for a few weeks then something happens and I gain it all and some. I lost 4 lbs last week which means I'm 2 lbs down since starting in July.

I've decided I want to aim to lose 30 lbs by Christmas. I was going to type 'try to lose' but no I want to do more than try... so here's my goals for September:

1. Walk 2km a day at least 4 times a week
2. Take stairs at work as often as I can (Depending on knee/ankle/back pain)
3. NOT eat the biscuits at work that are meant for the meetings!
4. Weigh only once a week, on a Wednesday
