Happy Labor Day! Welcome to all our newcomers and it's great to see all of our returning challengers. Reading and posting here often is one of the things that has helped me stay focused in the past so my plan this month is to stay on plan and be here often.

I have to get ready for the carb minefield (our state fair, lord help me) but wanted to report a NEW LOW!!!! 166.8!!! Now today at the fair I'll get lots of walking in, but I gotta really try to behave...funnel cake sundaes?

Hi! I'd like to join!

I'm restarting Atkins for the umpteenth time. I normally get frustrated with the extremely slow losses and how my weight loss even stops altogether for a couple of weeks a month now that I'm in perimenopause.

That said, I really want to stick with it this time because I know I feel better when I don't eat a bunch of sugars, grains, etc.

Working right now on a clean induction for September. I don't plan to stray far from Induction until I'm back under 200 pounds.

Started at 236 on August 30th. Goal for the month is 228.

September 1 - 232.8
September 2 - 232.2

In my Dr's office he has a picture of a chef sitting down eating a piece of cake as he reads a diet book. Well that picture speaks to me as about 99% of my overeating hapens when I read. About 18 months ago I stoped reading when I ate. I would allow myself to eat anything I wanted just not read when I ate and darn if my weight gain stopped. Then after doing that for a week or 2 I started to do JUDDD and lost about 45lbs. But about a year ago life showed up and I got back into eating when I read and of cource regained that 45lbs. So yesterday was 5 whole days without eating when I read.
I may just do this a few more days before I start back on a real diet. But as I said this eating when I read is my bigest problem like if I am not eating when I am reading that 1/2 gallon of ice cream may last 4 days but combine it with a good book and well in 1/2 hour it's gone. I am back up to about 315lbs and hope to continue not eating when I read, get back to the 2'or land and start to say good by to my man boobs.

So glad to see so many new people! The more the merrier! I knew yesterday was going to be bad but at least the damage was minimal. It was a party with pizza, chips and soda. No fruit or veggies. I spent most of the time in the pool with the kids but the host keep checking on everybody to see if they had eaten. At one point he hollered across the yard to point out that I didn't have any food and brought a plate over. So I did have 2 small slices of pizza. Today is the last cookout and I'm able to bring food. So its a veggie platter and then I'll have a few deviled eggs for myself. Someone else is doing deviled eggs but they use sweet relish. So today should be okay. I just wish celebrations didn't have to center around food.

Happy Labor Day everyone !
It is, sticky, overcast and extremely humid here today. 29C degrees, which is approximately 86F degrees. Not overly hot, but the humidity is awful.

pinkcadillac - I love the Muskoka area. It is so beautiful there ! I live in the Ottawa area, but closer to the St.Lawrence River. You would love the purse I bought last year in Memphis. It is a soft pink leather (think cotton candy colour) with a Cadillac emblem on the front. Everytime I use it, I get numerous compliments.

IndieKim - have strength re: the State Fair. I recently watched a show about the State fairs in the US - and the deep-fried foods they have, some of them crazy ! I think the deep-fried bubblegum or deep-fried butter are the ones that made me go, "hmmm. Really ?" Anyway, the one you're going to in MN really looked like fun ! Enjoy !

LauraDavis - nice looking breakfast there ! My question to you is: do you have a trick for cutting up your turnip ? I don't ever buy turnip, only because of how hard they are to cup up.

1moregin - wow ! you lost a lot of weight this summer ! Way to go ! What do you contribute that to ?

Today, I'm going to take it easy. Cooking for the week, laundry and will make myself exercise. As much as I know exercising is good for me, I still don't like it. I have all the Mile Walk (1,2,3,4) videos. I have all the tools to exercise: a bedroom I converted into a workout room with a yoga mat, TV for the exercise videos, exercise bike, one of those big inflatable workout balls - but I just can't seem to motivate myself. I hope one day that I will be one of those types that looks forward to exercising.

Our fair is so much fun! Crowded, but a great place to see and try new things, get educated, pet critters, milk a cow, and eat the most bizarre foods either deep fried, on a stick, or both

I'm heading for the international market when I get hungry and grab me some kabobs.

Stephanie for the fries I boiled the whole peeled turnips let cool all day while I slept then ran the softened turnips through my french fry maker. Normally I'll cut them in cubes to boil for mashed ones or "potato" salad.

I'm not 100% convinced of the long term health benefits, but I figure it probably can't hurt, so I'll give it a go. I'm really really hoping that the benefits to the brain that I've read about are accurate. Thank you again for taking the time to check it out.

Shelly, have fun at the lake!!! I live right at a lake, but we completely avoid it on holiday weekends. The people that come out and do their drinking and boating make me crazy. We've had 3 people killed in boating accidents this summer alone from stupid accidents. I like it better during the week when we have it to ourselves! LOL

September goals

Hello everyone,
Happy lab our day..
Goals for this month, 140lbs..
Exercising and live my life to the fullest potential, making myself a propriety, health and well being..love, laugh,life. My oldest son turns 31, my third son turns 17. Where, did the time go...

September 1st 144lbs
September 2nd 144lbs been a very busy weekend, my lovely friend visited us with her boys, as well as my two older boys with girl friends, so very full house, tons of cooking low carb foods, all to my plans, cleaning, but we all made time for riding our bikes, placed the dance programs on the Xbox so much laughter,.it was great, they just left for the big city, and my two youngest are getting they supplies ready for their first day back to school..

Mthrgoos a bunch of my family go to this lake a few times a yr. It's about an hr away so not to far. And usually it's not to crowded Unless it's a holiday! I made sure my daughter knows Not to go off by herself! She's almost 13 and thinks she knows it all! But then don't most teenagers? lol!
