First started Atkins April 1, 2002.
Lost 40 pounds back then and maintained for almost 8 years...then carb creep crept. I've always been low carb, but went hard core again in March 2012.
Hey! You don't have to drink all that water!

I'm happy to see a loss, any loss. The kids and I ended up at my family's house for the last pool party of the year. I ate grilled chicken and a hot dog and a few bites of a Quest bar. I had reservations about the hot dog.

Well I'm down half a pound today. It seems to be coming off just a few ounces at a time right now. No big drops or whooshes, but I'm thankful it's heading down. I can also tell my jeans are looser. I started in a 24, and I'm wearing a 14 now, so I can't wait to get into a 12!

Hello little darlings. Just a week ago, I turned down garlic parmesan wings because they had some weird "sauce" on them and I didn't trust it to be low in carbs so I just gave them back. I was so proud of myself.

Then yesterday, DH and I traveled 5 hours one way for a job interview. I packed hb eggs, sf jello, and some turkey roll-ups--all of which I ate before we got there. On the way home, we stopped somewhere for wings..and again, mine had weird saucy stuff on them, but I was so hungry I ate them anyway..knowing that there was probably more carbs than I should have on them. Then, because I felt like i for sure sabotaged myself, I gave in and I ate an icecream cone and three squares of a dove chocolate bar.

(TOM has to be coming..when I first started atkins in march, it began to regulate itself, and that was wonderful..but before that it was always wonky and off. I had one at the beginning of August, so I know I'm coming due for a visit, but I've been holding water and having cravings for two weeks now--and it's still not here. Sigh.)

Not that this justifies ANYTHING because it doesn't. At all. I knew exactly what I was doing and I opened my mouth anyway. I won't give myself any excuses. I'm positive that it's a combination of things that lead me to this bad decision, but it doesn't justify it at all. I had been stuck between 2 pounds for a few weeks, ups and downs. I was starving because I didn't adequately pack a lunch, and I was stressed about the job interview, but none of that says, "Go ahead and eat dove chocolate and an icecream cone." Ugh.

Needless to say, when I was eating the chocolate it tasted too sweet. My stomach feels like i swallowed a balloon and that I should throw up, and I am SO sad at myself. Ugh. So sad. SOOOOOO sad and guilty. I promised myself after the pizza fiasco that I wouldn't do this to myself.

I'm not weighing until I have 3 solid days of meat and eggs.

It was just one meal. If I allow myself to focus on my mistake too much, then I won't focus on my goal. Back on the wagon. With tissues and frustration and guilt. But back on the wagon.

Keep up the good work, guys. I'm so proud of all of you!! Seeing your frustrations and daily struggles reminds me that I'm human and that this IS a difficult journey sometimes. Other times, it feels like it's cake. Sometimes, there's a freezer demon and a chocolate bar.

Thanks so much for being here and for listening.

Bulldog, the hot dog can cause you to retain water.... but it will come right back off... wtg on the loss

Princesmommy, that is awesome about your daughter, I would be bragging too

MtherGoos any lose is a good loss.. your whoosh is coming hang in there

1moregin what a difference there is in the two pictures.. you are doing awesome

Grateful_Love don't panic, just like you said get back at it... we all have occasion of a slip up or eatting something that we think is low carb and its not because of sauces and such...

Mycattaz, You're right. I usually don't lose when I eat a hot dog so I felt lucky with a 0.2 lb loss. I wasn't expecting to eat dinner at my family's house but couldn't get the kids out of the pool and I was starving. But I guess one hot dog isn't so bad. I very rarely eat them.

Grateful Love, I think most of us have the moments where we give in to things we shouldn't. For those that don't ever cheat, well good for them. If only we all could be that strong. The important thing is to dust yourself off and get back on the wagon. Learn from your mistakes and carry on. A person who can recover from a mistake is a person who is definitely in this for the long haul. Hang in there, you are doing great!

Oh dear, looks like all us losers are having frustrations today.

Kudos to Bulldog and Mthrgoos for keeping us going down, even if just a bit. And Mycattaz - another pound! WTG!!

Shelly - never mind. Those bars will stop haunting you in a day or so. Hang in there. And kudos to your girl. Well done! It's so fun to see them proud of themselves!!

Everyone else who saw a jump - don't despair. We all know it's a down, down, up, up, down, up sort of things, this LC weight loss.

Danielle - just get right back on the bandwagon. We all have our weak moments. As long as we leave it at a moment and not a week, all will be well.

I felt like screaming this morning to see 104.5 again. I have been SO good. But Tom has made an appearance, so hopefully I'll drop back down tomorrow. This is driving me crazy. I expect to stall and bounce during my regular weight loss phase, but not induction!! I'm totally kicking myself for starting during PMS.

I'm tracking every bite and know I have not exceeded my carb limit so this water weight has to go soon.

The good news is I am doing well with cravings. They're under control. And I'm happy with my food, my eczema is clearing up and I can zip some pants that I could barely make come together in the front earlier this summer.

So I'm moving in the right direction, even if the scale is stuck. I HATE TOM!!!!

I was reading my online journal last night from ten years ago when I did this last and met my goal. It was reassuring to read about all the ups and downs I had back then, too, and I still got there.

I was also reminded how wonky my periods got for a while. Some I skipped, some were super heavy, some lasted two weeks, etc. My doc told me at the time that it was due to all the stored estrogen being released from my fat cells as I lost weight - creating havoc with hormone levels. Maybe that's something to consider for you, too, Danielle.

Have a great day, ladies. TGIF!! Stay strong!

Mycattaz - remind your husband that it is not possible to gain 6lbs of fat overnight. He would have to eat 21,000 calories more than his body needed in order to gain that much weight.

It is water. From sodium and perhaps too high protein intake which will also cause water retention. People also tend to forget that cheese can be very salty as well.

It is SO discouraging when this happens, but also temporary.

Every once in a while I'll be craving a hot dog, and I always get the Boars Head Hot Dogs, which show 0 Carbs per Hot Dog, but I'll still ALWAYS have a gain after eating them. I know it HAS to be the sodium. It usually goes away the next day, so no worries!

And here I was so proud that my 4 yr old pranked my elderly aunt by putting a fake rat on the toilet all by herself. My cousin got a video of it that is hilarious. You all should be so proud to raise some awesome smart kids.

Once his weight goes back down, maybe he'll have a better understanding of what is going on. You know how men can be, they just have to see for themselves. Tell him to hang in there, we're all rooting for him.

Kaillean, thanks for the support! I had horrible water retention last month from TOM. I found that eating foods with diuretic properties really helped shed some of that extra weight. The "magic" formula that worked for me was a meal of some form of protein, boiled cabbage w/ vinegar, a cup of coffee and lots of water. I had to stay close to the potty after that.

Mthrgoos, I love Boars Head products but never had their hot dogs. I might have to go hunt some down just to know where I can get them for next summer. I try and stay far away from hot dogs because they don't fill me up and they can stall me.

yea the nathan ones are really low in carbs too.. >1 carb.... but he did this the other day too and just stayed away from the scales for a few day and got back on and had lost some more... if you do eat Hot dogs you can expect a gain, but its not a fat gain its a water gain...so it will come back off... always drink plenty of water to flush the sodium out of your body

Bulldogmom that is Awesome! Love that Prank! When my daughter was around 5 she put a fake roach in my Moms can of coffee and omg I could almost hear her scream from our house! It was Hilarious!
Picked up the pizzas, bread sticks and cookies for tonight! Dang they smell wonderful! I got a salad for lunch and had 1/2 of it and i'll have the other half with some hot wings tonight! No pizza or cookies for this mama! Lol! Lots of water too!

Argh Shelly! It's so hard on us moms to have to handle this stuff for our kids.

I've had leftover pizza in the fridge for a day or so taunting me. LOL.

Hopefully those chicken wings will be yummy enough so you don't feel deprived. Love me some chicken wings!

I'm trying to do lower-LC for my kids, too. But they are such skinny minis --and picky too -- I can't completely deprive them of higher carb foods. I am trying to keep pizza and such to rare treats, though, instead of weekly events like it has been the past few months.

My son has discovered he LOVES quinoa salad, which makes me very happy. Unfortunately, his favorite school lunch is still PB & J on white bread. Sigh.

Shelly, just the smell of pizza can be so so tempting! But you can get through the night! When that smell hits you, and the urge kicks in to take a bite, just remember how bad you'll feel afterwards if you do. Looking forward to hearing tomorrow how great you did tonight!

If I had the ingredients i'd definetly make my own pizza. I hadn't thought of that! I'm not to tempted by the pizza really. I keep remembering the Last time I ate pizza and got Soo sick because I hadn't had wheat, flour etc in at least 8 months! I had the worst stomach cramps for Hours! Definetly made me leary of pizza forever!
