Skinny, Edina is nice....I don't think the commute would be too terribly bad from there, but it depends. 35w is a bear, 100 to 394 is awful, and don't get me started on 62 (Crosstown). I do 252/94/35W to Bloomington in the morning, and I get to south Bloomington from Brooklyn Park in about 25 minutes. Not bad. Coming home is a whole nother story - I work 7 to 3:30, and even then each way home is gridlock. So Friday I went up 35w to downtown, took the 5th ave exit and cut through downtown to get on 94 instead of sitting there for an hour It cut my time down to under 20 minutes getting home!

I hope you find something you like soon! Welcome to the neighborhood NYC...ah, one of my dream places...been there twice and loved it
Thank for commuting tips. Btw NYC is a nice place to visit, but not nice once you have kids!

Skinny, I can imagine it isn't great with kids....Edina must feel like a whole different world for you as a parent and especially for the kids! You're in one of the best suburbs too....how are you adapting to midwest suburbia life?

Hey all! Still working on this cake... Made the custard filling this morning and almost took a lick of the spoon before putting the pan into the sink. But I stopped and rinsed all the remaining custard off the pan and spoon.
So hard...
Nice, warm custard....mmmmm....

I have to cut the cake tonight, fill it with custard, and crumb coat it with buttercream.
A lot of temptation!

I weighed myself a few days ago and I had gained a pound!
I don't even know how that happened. I haven't been back on the scale, maybe next week.

Hope you all are doing well!

I weigh every morning but don't record until I lose, your weight fluctuates so much from water and other factors. The heavier you are, the more it fluctuates. Unfortunately, it's probably good to weigh almost everyday to see what foods work for you and help you lose as to those that stall or gain lbs...and that is the hardest part I've found.

Good Luck!

Low Carb Librarian - stay strong! Excellent job in the face of temptation. You are the boss of the cake...not the other way around!

Food for today:
Bkfst - omelette w/ bacon and cheese, decaf w/ CO and hwc
lunch - beef barbacoa w/ romaine, salsa, sour cream, guac, and cheese
dinner was more like a mini-meal/snack, i cut up some little chunks of brie and wrapped bacon around them

Will weigh tomorrow..see what the deal is, if any...just please don't let the scale go UP!

Every day is a bacon kinda day WTG on the 1.5 drop! That's what I'm talkin' about!

I haven't weighed because I feel the PMS bloat hitting hard and even knowing that's what it is, it's a downer. This is being helped along with a horrendous oppressive heat wave with accompanying humidity which ALWAYS makes me retain water.

I took my oldest son out for dinner and was good; applewood smoked chicken, side salad with bleu cheese, greens w/ ham hocks. I didn't finish any of the dishes, and gave the corn muffin that comes with the meal to my son. Diet coke for a beverage.

Not at all hungry this morning, but I'm chugging coffee (with SF Italian Sweet Cream) and water like a maniac. Skinny, how are you doing with this heat? I cannot stand it. Have you been here for a winter yet? Minnesota weather sure is fond of its extremes

I feel my best at 140's. I haven't been there since I got pregnant with my 5th baby in 2011. Always had been able to get back with some hard work but this time taking longer.
I'm 44 and will not hit 45 being at this weight.
Started low carb again
August 08@ 184
August 27@ 175.4

Goal #1 be out of 170's by end of September.
Goal#2 be out of 160's by end of year
Goal#3 be in 140's before my bday in May

Lunch - skipped...didn't even realize that until writing it down!
Dinner - 2 slices of homemade 12" pizza (on a coconut flour crust, so its LC!)

I'm changing my username here. KJGmn10 is too cumbersome. Yeah I've had it for 9 years but yanno. I put in a request for IndieKim so if that name shows up here, it's moi! Admins have to make sure it's available.

On another note, I'm UP a dang pound again. GAH....TOM TOM TOM, I don't like you.

Up, down, up, down...isn't that how it goes? You'll be back down soon I'm sure!
I just had my IUD out, so it will be interesting getting my cycle back and seeing how that affects things...

Yup Alex, other than the first 2 weeks, it's all been like a frigging yo-yo. I'm back down to 167 again And TOM still isn't here so I'm hoping the woosh is something real nice after he leaves. I might even win a 5lb challenge finally.

My nonscale victory is, I hit a size 10! I haven't seen that size in quite some time. Funny thing is, I look at myself and I look way bigger than I did when I was a 10 before. I think because there's a lot of flab, I'm older, etc. I believe it's time to get some toning done. I bought a pilates dvd set a month ago and it's still sitting on my kitchen table

I am maintaining at 165. I am ready for a drop, but then who isn't?
Like a previous poster, I only record my lows. Hard to imagine 140, but I have a feeling (belief!) that I'll be closer before too long.

Hang in there!
I know how you feel.
Have you tried semi-sweet chocolate chips that are used for baking. 19 of them is only 8g carbs, so I usually have about 8 of them, along with some almond, for a low carb chocolate fix!
I just do not have the time to make "fat bombs" that everyone talks about, with 2 toddlers running around, so found this low carb chocolate alternative that I can go to satisfy my TOM cravings.

Great job on the NSV Kim! I can't wait to get into a 12, even...seems like I'm at 14 forever. It's funny how we don't appreciate things when we had them...I remember thinking I was SOOOO fat when I was a size 10! (I was probably only 10 lbs overweight!) If only I had started LC then!

Well gang, today is my birthday! Not much celebrating today, but this weekend I get to get a haircut and a spa pedicure - I can't wait!
I made this LC lemon meringue pie, for a little treat after dinner
I've never made a meringue pie before, so I hope it turns out as good as it sounds...

Keep up the good work everyone! You are all inspiring me!

I lemon!

Weighed in today at 173.2.... Long way to go!
Aw, thanks! I made the pie and it was good, the only thing was my meringue was a little wet underneath, but it wasn't bad. Maybe I should've cooked it longer? I didn't want to burn it though! I had a hard time getting the whites stiff, so that could be why too.
I did sub erythritol and stevia for the sweetner, and it was almost too sweet. I would maybe subtract a little bit of sweetner from the crust and filling next time. I also added a dash of lemon extract b/c I love lemon!
Oh, and the crust I added extra almond flour and butter b/c my pie plate is a bit bigger.
Overall it was pretty good! DH who is not LC loved it, too.
