Induction question???

Whats the longest time anyone has stayed below 20 grams of carbs per day with high amounts of fat.

Is it safe for years????

I still have another 30 pounds to lose and seem to only be able to lose weight when I eat VLC.

HOw long is it safe for???

Thanks guys!!

Steve Phinney, one of the authors of the newest Atkins book and also co-author of "The Art and Science of Low Carb Living" has been ketogenic, between 25 and 50 total (not net) carbs for most of the past 2 decades, including an uninterupted 6-year run.

Eric Westman, another co-author of the newest Atkins book, says under 20 carbs total (not net) is safe to stay on forever.

I am not an expert like the Master Emel...
But my common sense tells me that if your 20 gr of Net Carbs are mostly veggies, how can this be unhealthy? I probably eat more servings of healthy veggies than the majority of Americans.
About the high fat for the long run, I am not really sure...

Yep, and that's my plan as well.

I recently passed the six-month mark, and have no plans to stop.

Discover your adequate protein intake. Discover how many carbs you can handle. The rest of your calories come from fat.

Other than alcohol, there isn't anything to replace the calories with if you're eating sufficient but not excessive protein and low carbs. So fat it is, and I like it fine.

And I'm not a master, PHDguy/Grasshopper. I'm some poor schmuck who reads a lot and pays attention to what her body responds to while remembering to recognize that we're all different.

Ten years. First five were under ten carbs a day. Second five were zero carbs, but I do eat eggs and they have carbs. One pregnancy in there, I was low carb for that, maybe 30 carbs a day.

I have now been 7 months in strict Induction and also using JUDDD ( I eat every other day for the most part) and have no adverse effects. I feel better than I have in years on this WOE. I just have to watch the whole emotional eating thing from time to time but I haven't lost a battle to it yet during this time period and I am sure that Induction has helped in that regard. :P

Don't forget that the Inuit and the Masai live low carb their whole lives in their 'natural' environment.
Also there are proteins and fats that are essential to your body's workings and there are NO essential carbs.

Safe from what perspective? What are you worried about?

I have been on Iduction a year and my numbers are good. I still need to loose another 20 and plan on staying until that is gone. I am lowering my calories and increasing my workouts now to make it to goal. I plan to stay under 50 grams a carb a day for the rest of my life. I enjoy this way of eat and my body and mind do as well. Why change? I fail at the normal American diet. I have done it enough to know it doesn't work for me. This works.
