Shelly, hope your daughter enjoys her camp! Hang in there!

Welcome CatieTN!!

Nice drop trinigirl! Woo hoo! KUTGW!!

Luvleliz, great job shopping! Your menu sounds yummy!

Mischale, I can totally relate! I also LOVE that I have so much more energy to do stuff with my boys. This WOE has improved my life in so many ways!!

Tskb and pcaltman, weekends are always tough! I think summer weekends are the hardest given all the cookouts, etc. Hang in there!

Midlyfech, menu sounds yummy! KUTGW!

1moregin, nice drop again! You're doing great! KUTGW!

I begin my trip to Germany tomorrow so i won't be able to weigh until Saturday after tomorrow. I packed a bunch of Quest bars and a couple boxes of almonds (100 calorie snack packs). I am also bringing splenda packets so i can enjoy some yummy German coffee. I know I will be able to find plenty of meat there! I also plan to have one indulgence - a single piece of apple strudel. It is one of my favorite things in the world and it is only great there! So, I will keep my carbs very low one day and enjoy one slice with a cup of coffee. Can't wait!

Hope everyone has a great night!

Hello everyone!! Here i am...back after huge family troubles. Yes, my beloved father died and we three kids hired a lawyer and that's all i'm going to say for now. We had a beautiful celebration this weekend.

I just want to say that i'm pretty nonjudgmental, but I just caught up on this thread and there was a lot of "oh well i cheated so what" the past two weeks. I have to say that ...it is simply destructive behavior to be SO off plan. You will never lose the weight that way. You will come back every month and talk about what you ate that was off plan, andyou will be as fat as you ever were. I'm sorry, but here comes the tough love. I am as supportive as anyone, but some of the cheating talk almost came off as bragging.

There are many many ways to lose weight. YOu can lose weight eating only tomatoes and grapes if you choose. Or all fruit. Or only Subway or MickyD. choose a plan, but if you can't stick to Atkins for the two weeks of induction, or four weeks, or six or whatever, move on to something else.

The thing is, Atkins works. IT WORKS. But you have to follow the plan. NOT the plan but with fruit because you love fruit so much. Fruit is NOT in the plan, at least not induction. Fruit has incredible amounts of sugar and fruit is our enemy. Or bread. Bread is our enemy. Breakfast sandwiches are our enemies. A bite of them contains a day's carbs. Back away from the carbs!!! if you try and try and try but always succumb, then may e you need to try something else, because you won't lose enough weight to make a difference if you stray so far.

I am here to help. I have met my goal, and I am pretty thin. I may drift and stray and gain the weight back (hope against hope that i won't) ...and it has been a long and difficult journey (well, not reallythat difficult, when it comes down to it). But I stayed on the plan. That is the key. I want you all to succeed, and you can do it.

Well, i guess that's all i have to say. Congrats to everyone who is losing..i love you for it!!!
If you're stalled, I know that the stall will end.
Talk to you tomorrow!!!! And please don't take thos the wrong way... It's just that I haven't read the thread for more than a week and it was actually quite surprising.

Awesomeness on a plate. Ground beef, shredded cabbage, cooked in oil with seasoning. I add green onions and mushrooms. It's called crack slaw because you can't stop eating it. It is surpisingly, deceptively good!

DQ - I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. May your sorrow pass quickly and remember all the good times to celebrate his life.

You are quite right about the cheats. It's something that I don't seem to understand ....but have never had the courage to voice my opinion.

Ready to see some dropping going on!

Good morning!

DQ-so sorry about your loss ....welcome back!

Have to keep this short- these next 2 weeks are when I have to work hard at work.

I had to take a sleeping pill to put myself to sleep - was so excited about playing tennis - my adrenalin was pumped and when I did sleep, I dreamt all night long.

I think TOM is over so I am ready to see some dropping going on. I feel like I have a big grip on this WOE now - so I am dug in good. I have no desire to go off plan! No cravings!! (I wish there was a knock on wood avatar thingy )

I did great yesterday. 2 eggs and 3 sausage links, a small piece of baked chicken, 2 thin hb patties with asparagus and broccoli, 2 cups of coffee with 1/2 and 1/2 (decaf) and a cup of broth. No snacking at night at all - not even craving it - the going out to play tennis after dinner helped that!

Have a great day everyone!!

Start weight 203.8. My goal for this month is 195.
July 1 203.8
July 2 203.8
July 3 201.8
July 4 - weighed in but forgot to post
July 5 200.8
July 6-9 - on vaca
July 10 - 198.6
July 11 - 198.2 (down 5.6) (beginning of TOM)
July 12 - 198.4 (beginning of TOM)
July 13 - 199.2 (TOM IS HOT AND HEAVY)
July 14 - 199.0 (TOM STILL HERE)
July 15 - 198.8 (STILL HERE---TOM)
July 16 - 198.4 (I did see 197.4 when I first got on the scale so I feel certain it going to move soon!)

DQ - So sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. Only time makes it a little easier. May you have all your wonderful memories forever!!

DQ - on another note. what the heck. TOTALLY JUST KIDDING!! I am right there with you on your feelings about the diet. And I've also been one to post my cheat. I've done this diet before and lost 60 lbs. I was sooo dedicated I counted my gum as 1 carb. I didn't count net carbs I counted all carbs and stayed under 20 for a year!!!! but it works. My personal issue is that I just came off of a low fat diet that you could eat everything in portions. First it was hard to do that because I had it in my head there was no way you could eat bread 2 or more times a day. But I lost 10 doing so. Now i'm at a stall and I need to really kick it up a notch and go back to WHAT WORKS FOR ME. and that is low carb. However, now i'm retraining my brain to say, no you cant have just that one piece of bread for bkfst because it will derail you for the week. It takes a few days to see the results of low carb that's why it's a two week induction. I remember dropping 9 in a week! But now i'm too busy enjoying that glass of wine instead of clean eating. It's hard for me but I know I can do it. And that wine will derail the heck out of this diet.

So you are right.!!! come on ladies we can do this! That's another reason why I wanted us to post our menus to keep us accountable! good luck everyone. I will be weighing in a few.

You have my deepest sympathies, DQ! My thoughts and best wishes will definitely be with you and your family today. You are a magnificent, brilliant woman whom I deeply admire. I wish you strength and peace through this process of loss. If there's anything that a complete stranger on the internet can do for you in this difficult time, I would honestly be happy to help.

Hi Everyone! I'm back!

DQ, I'm very sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose your dad and it's even worse when it has to get ugly. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Well, I made it through surgery, and made it back home, but most importantly, I did it without having one single bite of food that was off plan. Not one! I'm really proud of myself, because I wasn't sure if it could be done, but I did do it. We went up to Phoenix the day before my surgery, and we enjoyed the day at the water park, then hit the arcade and miniature golf course that night. We had so much fun! But 57 pounds ago, there's no way I could have played miniature gold in that Phoenix heat! But it was no problem at all now! It was so nice to be able to thoroughly enjoy that day with my kids before the surgery.

On the day of my surgery, of course I couldn't eat anything at all. Then the next day was clear liquids. Of course all the stuff the hospital brought me to drink was full of sugar (apple juice, etc....) So my daughter brought me Diet 7-Up and I stuck to that and some broth.

The next day the Dr let me go back to a regular diet. I have to say, the hospital bent over backwards to accommodate my WOE. They were really awesome. I told them not to worry about it, because my daughter would be able to bring me food, but they really tried. To be honest, I still didn't eat the food they brought me, because I know it had fillers and wasn't a very high quality of food, but I really appreciated the fact that they tried so hard, so I did try to make it look like I ate some of their food.

So now I'm home and doing well and still staying completely on plan. I got the news from my Dr. yesterday that the pathology results back, and no chemo will be needed. I'm so very very thankful!

So now, DQ and Shelly, I'm hoping that you can help me with this one. To take Estrogen or not to take Estrogen? The Dr. gave it to me, and he wanted me to start on it yesterday, but he also said that he'd leave it up to me. I'm one week out from the surgery, and so far no hot flashes or other signs of menopause, but I'm sure they're coming. Estrogen, I think, is supposed to help protect you from heart disease and osteoporosis, but it also increases your risk of breast cancer and a few other things I think. I'm also worried about how estrogen, or the lack of estrogen, can affect my weight loss. I'm really worried about that. What do you think?

to everyone! Thanks so much for your prayers and good thoughts. It means a lot to me! I'm so glad to be back!

Oh, I forgot to mention. I had been avoiding the scale, because I know that even though I stayed on plan, the scale would most likely be up due to water weight and my body trying to heal. I finally got on yesterday and I was up 4 pounds from my pre surgery weight. Today I'm up just 1.5 pounds from my pre surgery weight. So the water weight is coming off and I'm trying to be patient with it. I know it will take time and I'm trying to let my body heal and not push it to come off faster.

The weight loss has been slow, but I measure my waist, chest and hips to help keep me motivated when numbers don't! I did fall off the wagon twice this weekend. But I felt instantly sluggish, bloated and congested (gluten). A good reminder why I chose Atkins!

Happy and feeling good back on plan. Favorite this week has been salmon grilled with some paprika, salt and pepper. In a separate bowl, mix some chopped cilantro, Italian parsley, green onions with some fresh lemon and a little olive oil. Drizzle on top of the fish after cooking. It's such a fresh and bright flavor, and a nice change from the burger, bacon, steak staples!!

Ugh! It is a nightmare when a death brings out the absolute worst in people. I am sorry that you have to deal with the additional stress from his girlfriend while grieving for your father! Hang in there!

Well dang.

Mthergoos- I don't know about your surgery, but sounds like it went well. I am glad u got play time with kids! You say "up" to Phoenix- are you in the old pueblo like me? Well- we are hovering around the same weight, so I'm gonna keep my eye on u (and secretly competing) *wink* btw- have u looked into natural estrogens? I could be 100% wrong- but I believe they are plant estriols?

That being said- confounded teen made lo carb bread. Flax bread and buttercream. Yeah. Had 3 funky pieces over the course of thee day. No more for me. Fat fast and exercise today...

8 253.5

14 244 -.5/ -9.5
15 242 -2/ -11.5
16 242.5 **+.5/ -11**

Mmhm. Not discouraged. Just know what I can and can't do. Not gonna change stats.

Gotta run. Will say hi this evening when i "stop" being in motion.

Good clean Tuesday all!
