Hoping for good weather this weekend so we can go to the pool. Cooking brisket today and planning Italian dinner tomorrow where I'm finally going to use my veggie slicer and make zucchini noodles. Found an organic marinara sauce that is very low carb so going to try to make a LC lasagna with the zucchini strips. Making fresh tortellini for the rest of the family. Actually looking forward to the lasagna! Hoping it is as good as it looks.

My work was so physical and busy Thursday and Friday that my lunch became my Dinner yet no actual weight loss...I told on of my male co workers that I was trying to lose 10lbs and he said what up with women trying to be skinny minis don't you girls (yes girls) know that guys love soft curves...and then the other crew members event to to elaborate.. the crews I work with are mainly men who age range from early twenties to mid Fifties and they all had that opinion

Shelly how is your Granny doing praying for you and your family.
Yes I think as we mature Lowe carbs and less calories add up to weight loss..and of course working out with weights and building some muscle would help us also...I think that where I am lacking but I don't have the time for a gym in the summer..but will add that come fall.

cb83 - I purposely don't put veggies with breakfast, unless I make a goat cheese and spinach omelet, to keep the carb count down. I usually have 2 cups salad for dinner so that only leaves me with 2/3 cups of something else. I also put celery in my chicken salad every day, so really I have no option for much left. I get the munchies at night (like most) and will have more celery then as well. If I am really being bad (not induction) I add peanut butter to the celery. Hit's the stop

Good Morning Everyone! Had a nice little drop again today after my trip to Phoenix yesterday. Hoping it sticks!!

My Dr. visit went well. My suture is healed up, so he cleared me to go back in the lake and go swimming again! YAY!!! I've got an odd lump that may or may not be a hernia. I'm praying not, I really really don't want another surgery, but he's going to keep an eye on it and see what it does.

1moregin, you're doing AWESOME!!!

Trini, I completely agree, as I get older I find just low carb isn't enough. I need to be aware of my calories too, which I didn't have to do when I was younger.

Shelly, how's your grandma?

Julie, can't wait to hear how your lasagna turns out! Where did you find the low carb marinara sauce? I'd love to get some of that for DBF.

Mthergoos, glad your surgery recovery is going well! Also congrats on the drop! The marinara sauce I found is Organicville brand Tomato Basil Sauce. It is gluten free, for a 1/2 cup serving it has 5 g net carbs (6g carbs - 1 g fiber). Ingredients are: organic tomato purée, organic tomatoes, organic basil, salt, organic onions, organic extra virgin olive oil, organic agave nectar, organic garlic and organic oregano. I hope it is yummy! I was just excited to find one without added sugar. Found it at Giant supermarket. Will let you know how it works out!

Julie Yes August Is our month to kick some booty and lose this weight!!

Thanks ya'll for asking about Gran! Means a Lot to me! She's doing better Thank God! They did a swollow test on her yesterday and found out that a LOT of the liquid she drinks ends up in her Lungs instead of her stomach! Dr said that is what set up her pneumonia! So she will now have to have a thickner added to whatever she drinks and will have to take her meds with applesauce. And when she Does drink she will have to angle her chin down some so hopefully it'll go Into her stomach and not her lungs. She is still coughing something horrible and her left lung still has packed junk in it But her right lung seems better. Her kidneys aren't functioning very well either But they aren't sure why yet. She May get to go home tomorrow which to Me sounds way to soon. But I have no say in it.

Hi, everyone--

I used to be on this thread some time ago. Stress happened and I quit trying. So my eating has been out of control unhealthy and it's got to stop. I have a lot more aches and pains from eating so many carbs and desserts. I really need to make myself accountable, I can't just keep on the way I have been doing. So, I hope that joining in with this very supportive group will help me do that. I think weighing every day and having to list it is the way to go. So here goes!

Shelly, glad you grandma is doing better!

My hunger got the best of me yesterday. Not sure if it was due to the extra stress at work last week (very tough week!!) or the fruit/yogurt I've been adding this week (maybe giving me extra cravings), but I literally felt like I was starving all day. So, I ended up eating way too much, including some off-plan items (egg noodles and Italian bread with our brisket dinner). My resolve is usually very strong, but yesterday it just wasn't where it should have been. I went to bed feeling terrible and frustrated and woke up mad at myself. I am back on track today and hopeful it doesn't happen again! July has not been a good eating month for me given my vacation, my trip to Germany and extra stress at work due to a new manager. Weekends are always harder too and we have been having more normal family dinners since my hubby returned from Afghanistan. It has made it more of a struggle to stay on plan when I cook up all the yummy family favorites. However, I know how important it is to my overall health and happiness so I will keep at it! At this point, I am hoping that I don't end the month of July higher than I started it! August will be a better month!!

I think that's how it went... it's been awhile. Oh and lasagna is wonderful!!!! I tried it the other week.. maybe 3 weeks ago. Made lil leftover containers to put up for lunches... YUMMY!!!!!!!!

Julie, you've got this! I know you do. It's got to be so much harder now that your hubby is home, but you'll get back into your groove in no time. I find that when I'm hungrier than usual, it's usually followed by a "Whoosh". I tell myself that if I don't feed that extra hunger, my body will have to go into my fat stores. I have no idea if it actually works like that, but that's what I tell myself.

Shelly, so glad your grandma is doing better! Don't let them send her home before she's ready. Be sure whoever is taking care of her feels comfortable with her care. Sometimes the hospitals seem to want to rush people out of there before they're actually ready.

Thanks much Shelly, Laura and mthergoos! The support here always helps. I've definitely come too far to get sidetracked. Today I feel stronger and not so hungry. Just finished making my zucchini lasagna and can't wait to try it. I made a large lasagna pan full and a smaller cake pan size so there should be plenty of leftovers! Not sure anyone else in my family will even eat it! Will freeze single size portions with the leftovers. Will be nice to have something different. I also have pork chops and beef brisket for my lunches this week so I have no excuse not to have a good week on plan! Have a great Sunday everyone!!

shelly - that's called aspiration - when liquid gets into the lungs. And then the patient has to have that thickener (fancy and fine corn starch, basically) added to everything, including water! sorry!

Confounded Atkins bars!!!

Hi all.

Did not weigh this morning. Will face the scale tomorrow

Still ToM and had cravings like crazy yesterday. But not for the usual- for Atkins bars. Because my mind knows they are my off limits, so of course I craved them. So, I kept my cals light and had one for lunch and one for dinner.

We shall see. Back in the day they stalled me.

Lots of cramps. But gonna zumba at home tonight.

Well my Gran got to go home. I didn't think she was ready but the Dr said she is and I don't get a vote. Gran said She wanted to go so Dr said Ok. Thankfully where she lives is an assisted living and they are All Wonderful people with awesome nurses who are there 24/7! So she will be well taken care of and we have a Big family so someone is always going by and seeing her. Her kidneys are still not working to great so I don't know what they will do with that.
