Last night skyped with my parents last, it hard being away from them, but they are and has been low carbs for many years, my dadhas had Diabetes for many many years and have balanced his illness without meds for all those years...so I know that this works..but we talked about weight loss, my parents eat so little' that as we age we really have to come to terms with input output...here's to low carving eating little And living longer, my parents are in good health vibrant active, traveling loving and are in their nineties..thank god...

1moregin, Zumbaing away the pounds in the fall and into winter I'm going to join the gym and join you in zumba.

Tskb You can do this, if you read this thread and others on the board, to fail is sometimes the course, I can tell you from my own experience since i've been on this board, when ever I have eaten off plan I don't want to post, and some days after going on the scale I don't want to post, because I Don,t want to fail publicly but I put my pride away and do so, I get the support needed the truth told and the caring and support...so keep posting and reading, and as our dear MtherGoos said focus on what you can have and the way staying true to you plan feel and the weight will take care of it,s self..

Take heart we can all do this the well being of eating lower carbs far out ways the scale..

Enjoy the day everyone.

Keep posting. It,s wonderful to have so many lively posting to read after a hard day work..

Trini it's So awesome that your parents LC! My mom has cut down on her carbs some but my Dad Bless his heart is So addicted to crackers etc! He's gained so much weight in the 6 yrs he's been retired it makes me worry about him a lot. His dr says his blood work is great but carrying around that much extra weight, especially in his stomach area is hard for him.

Hi guys...just back from a gig..outdoors, and nice and cool, but the MOSQUITOES ate me up and i sprayed myself!!
All i had today was the innards of a lobstr roll and two glasses of freixenet, so i hope the weight is down tomorrow.
Wat i got at the thrift store...a cashmere sweater 3ply for $10, a pj bottoms..new and by Pink, haha an american legion SUIT that fits me perfetly and looks so cool, two pairs of H Bar C men's trousers..wool with a stripe down the side...from the 50s I think. Oh and a pair of reslly cool bakelite earrings. Carved green spheres. AND two women's jackets from the 40s that fit great! Happy me!

Lost 40 pounds back then and maintained for almost 8 years...then carb creep crept. I've always been low carb, but went hard core again in March 2012.

You gals are doing great.
My mom has diabetes as well. She is very fat and takes shots. I have told her for years to get on Atkins but she doesn't listen to me. Oh well. The one things that gets me mad is all the excuses. She tells me I have my fathers genes so I am skinny!! WTH, I work out and watch what I eat and always have. I have my years of ups and downs like everybody, but still. I have to just live my life and she can deal with her problems, but I am the healthier one.

Feeling Very stressed this morning. My Grandma who's 94 is in the hospital. Pneumonia and possible copd. They aren't sure yet. She's not doing good at all and I feel like she's giving up. She's said often that she's ready to go home and be with Grandpa in Heaven. She's as sharp as a whip mentally but her body has been working against her for a few yrs now. Kills me because she helped raise me when my mom and Dad worked. Love that old lady with everything in me

Princessmommy hang in there with gramma. Surround her with love and visits. Just being there makes a difference.

Kudos on the weight loss. Ease your stress with alternate ways... Not food- if you are a stress water like me.


Pinkcadillac. Yay! Love that. Your body made 153 a set point. For a while, time for it to move. I bet it's done. Come on 152... Just around the corner.

Pcaltman. Nice loss. And mom has to live her life. We can't take care if them if they don't want it. I've told my gramma same thing for years. She never listens to me. When a doc told her- she's all on board. From 240 to 186 in
2 years! 88 years old, no exercise. So- they get it when they get it!

DQ I'm a newbie again- what do you do? Sing, play? You didn't eat much- surely that scale will move! Cool clothes. You know your stuff!

@ 266.6 again, I think this delicious bulletproof coffee is doing it for me. I can't believe I didn't try it before. I even had coconut oil. Goal was 265 before August!

Shelly, (((HUGS))), I'm sorry to hear about your grandma. I hope things get better soon!

DQ, you definitely grabbed some great bargains! Sounds like a fun shopping trip!

Heading back to Phoenix in the morning for my post op check up. Hoping he clears me to go swimming so the boys and I can hit the water park again while we're there!

Still no more losses. I think it's been about 5 days with no loss, but I'm hanging in there and hoping for one soon. I figure my body has got to still be healing too and that may be holding things up.

Just had my lunch, it's 6:22:here so my chicken salad lunch will serve as my Dinner as well..we have cabbages ready for sale and so this morning I made a big batch of slaw...we will be making this weekend ''sauerkraut''with local white wine..yummy.
Also last night I was feeling for something yummy like chocolate, I made myself a hot decalf coffee with coco powder, coconut oil, vanilla, cinnamon and whipping cream and blend it all up..really good and very filling..

MtherGoos, best of luck on your Dr visit, I,m sure that the Dr will be amazed by your progress and you will be able to take the boys to the water park..can't wait to read all about it.

Oh Shelly my heart and prayers goes out to you I am praying that your granny is on the mend swiftly...stay strong..

1moregin, never to much information I really have been enjoying your post, funny and uplifting.

Pclatman, another drop. I am really sorry to read about your mom, it took my Dad getting ill, to make them change their lifestyle, it also helped my Mother who has always been a little overweight, and had always had some sort of high blood pressure, now she is in great shape, but with both of them eating the same it's much easier I believe..so don't give up on you mom, once there is life, there is always hope..and dispute what she says she knows you are telling the truth.... I would love my husband to go lower carbs but he will not at this stage but I live in hope.

D Q have you thought of making videos on YouTube, shopping in Thrift stores you could blog all about it...what a great haul...Best..I know I would a a subscriber... I think with the interesting life you lead you would be an instant hit..your music, weight loss, your writing, shopping. Wow..I know my daughter and her friends would be in..

DQ, your thrift store finds sound fun!!

Had a party at work today and ate the toppings off 3 slices of Supreme Costco pizza. They also had two big yummy cakes from Costco that I thankfully avoided. I fear the scale tomorrow due to all the extra sodium though. Fingers crossed! The last 3 days I've added small portions of plain Greek yogurt with fresh blueberries sweetened with DaVinci SF vanilla syrup. It is a yummy treat! It is nice to have something light in the morning as I am really sick of eggs.

Hi everyone!!! It was a beautiful day in Maine, so I spent it outside, reading, swimming, canoeing, jet skiing. i was on the dock reading when I noticed an eagle flying overhead...but REALLY high. At first, I thought that it was a jet. About a minute late, I noticed something DROPPING from the sky, and glinting, silver glinting. Well, it landed in the lake, and I yelled, "Mike, get your binoculars; something fell in the lake!" Mike said it looked like a lobster pot, or maybe something fell off a plane. I got in the jetski to go take a look, but...doh! Dead battery! So I then got into the canoe and paddled out.... It was a teensy spaceship with flashing lights and about a dozen teensy spacemen standing on top....
OK, it was a mylar birthday balloon.
Sigh.

Anyway...1moregin.. I sing and play. I have three bands...one is 60s girl group, one is pu punk (yep still playing and recording after all these years) ..one is retro alt country, one is a mix of a lot of stuff.
Shelly...sorry about your grandmother. Try to get her out of the hospital asap. Trinigirl, videos is a cool idea! I do have a youtube channel called dqmuddypaws....

Thanks ya'll for the thoughts and prayers for my Gran! We went to see her today and she seems a bit better. They had a lung specialist come by and he ordered another breathing treatment, this one an hour long with differant meds then before plus after that he wants the nurse to beat on her back to see if some of that nasty stuff in her lungs will break loose. She finally ate a bit today but only a tiny milkshake and some coffee but it's way better then nothing!
DQ I got all excited reading about the thing falling from the sky! Lol!

Pcaltman your Gran sounds wonderful! My Gran had to be moved into a home a few yrs ago. My Aunts and my Mom tried to take turns keeping her in their homes but it got to be to much for them after Gran had some mini-strokes and her legs started folding on her when she walked. She is definetly still a spit fire though!

Ate too much protein last night. Made two venison roasts and was too good.

I am surprised though by your menus not many put any veggies w/ breakfast or even lunch sometimes. Wouldn't it be beneficial to get them spread out or early to make sure you're active as possible and burn them off?? Just wondering, just trying to tweak my plan, make my mini goal and lose this other 20!
