Hello everyone

Goal to reach 140 lbs. Continue to strive for better health and well-being And to take better care of myself..to start an excise program.

July 12th. 148lbs just had a very large dinner of smoke sausage and kale..so I expect a jump in my weight in the morning.

July 14th. 149lb, yes instead of downwards its upwards, but I'm OK..just chilling around today going to make some broth..and just drink away.
July 15th. 147lbs I'm so very happy, drank tons of water and bone broth, made with coconut milk..yummy.

Mthrgoos, wow on meeting your goals, I am so happy for you

Great advice on the process food. I don't eat any...in Canada it's more difficult to purchase any processed low carb foods. So for me it's farm fresh meats, vegetables and fruits, yes I know I am a farmer and we grow veg, fruits and feeds for animals. We also have chickens and organic eggs. And so its easy to eat low carb. It,s only when my MIL or daughter bakes bread or cookies that I struggle. But even that is getting better. I don't think I'll meet my goal of 140lbs this month but 'm happy with the way my eating is turning out' when I start this Easter Monday, my eating was out of control, Easter Sunday I ate and ate everything at our family get together, and that night I knew I had to do something not because of a weight issue but because of a health issue..I did not want to be I'll as I age..I know now that it is harder for my body to slim down at my age and I need way less food to live and that every calorie counts...I think because I am 5'9" my body is fighting to stay in the latter half of the 140's but I am determined to reach 140 lbs..but by following a healthful'low carb balance way of eating.

Mthrgoos...i still wouldn't take hrt unless were about to murder someine...seriously?

I am not a big fanof processedfoods. So yesterday i picked up a jar of pickled mussels. Tasted..sweet. What? The third ingredient..after mussels and vinegar..is sugar?? You have GOT to be kidding me. i poured out the liquid and replaced it with vinegar. Let's see what it tastes like tomorrow! But ...really.. I think most canned and jarred foods contain sugar!

Congrats Laura!!

I am loving the food here in Germany. They truly love their pork here! Even my hotel's breakfast is very LC friendly. I've been eating scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled tomatoes and grilled mushrooms each morning. The coffee is also extra yummy. For dinners I've had roast pork with sauerkraut and a mixed grill with sausages, chicken and pork along with a salad. Salad dressing seems yogurt based but it is likely still fairly low carb. I've splurged on a few glasses of lovely white wine from local vineyards and I had one piece of apple strudel (couldn't come all the way here and not have my favorite dessert in the world!!). They really don't use a lot of sugar in their baking (compared to the USA) so it didn't taste that sweet and it didn't seem to affect me too much. Not sure it even knocked me out of ketosis as I still feel the same and still have metallic taste as usual. Will see what the scale says when I get home. I will weigh Sunday morning.

Hi all,

I would cut out the Atkins bars. I don't eat them they are processed and can stall you. The pepperoni and sausage may have a lot of salt. When I eat pepperoni I gain a pound or two then it comes right off. I guess my body holds onto the water. If I get hungry I have chicken with mayo. I love it but my family thinks I am weird

1moregin...my eating has been very bad lately....low carb, but not good...peanuts, sugar free chocolate....hardly any veg....bad pinky!

Down another pound today! I would say that's probably the last of my big drops as the weight from the surgery is probably about gone. I also was able to put on my size 16 jeans today, which I couldn't 2 weeks ago. I took them off and put the 18's back on, just because I'm a little sore to wear them and the looser ones are more comfy right on, but they did go on.

Pcaltman, I like chicken with mayo too. I just mix it up like a chicken salad. YUM!!

Shelly, So glad your daughter is coming home! Enjoy the last bit of summer before school starts up again!

Laura, YAY on the drop!!! You're doing great! How are you liking your new place?

Julie, Germany sounds wonderful!! And the fact that you're visiting Germany and still staying on plan is awesome! Enjoy your trip!

Trini, I posted to you yesterday, but it disappeared. Weird. It seems to happen sometimes when I try to post from my phone. Anyway, I'm so jealous of all your farm fresh meats, eggs, and veggies. Here in Arizona, at least where I'm at, it's really hard to grow anything. I understand the struggle with the baked goodies though. Yesterday we walked into a store and they were baking fresh baked bread. It smelled so so good! But, I was able to enjoy the smell of it without feeling like I HAD to have it. In the past, I would have bought a whole loaf and devoured most of it myself. So just the fact that we CAN avoid it now is a big accomplishment I think.

took too long to edit

complaining... i have no "control" for my experiment! dang it. was it the exercise or the food modifications?

took your advice, no processed, no pepperoni, no bars , and watched the sodium.

late B- 2 fried eggs in butter, small portion of baked porkchop
L/D - grilled chicken leg and thigh
S- fine. i had only 4 slices of pepperoni while rummaging thru fridge
D- Pork rinds and chicken salad (chicken and mayo made@ home)

I think I am going to repeat the menu today. See what happens. Maybe some bike riding this evening. Teen and I are doing some SHOPPING. So that's exercise, right?

MtherGoos - I love the new place I love the freedom I have to do what I want when I want to do it I don't have to plan around anyone else's schedule. My roommate works 3rds right now too so we understand each others schedule. We do lunch together, he doesn't cook so the kitchen is mine and I take lunch to work for both of us. So it's nice I have someone to "take care of" but no strings. I think this is working out well for both of us. We go do things together which I haven't done in 2 years. All I did before I moved was work go to the grocery and stay home. It's nice to go shopping together and out to eat and to go to his family get togethers. I'm 2 states away from my family so it's great that they have adopted me. Right now I think I'm very blessed!

Did not get the opportunity to post yesterday, it's haying season on the farm and that means everyone's on deck so busy time...it OK today rain storm last night so the fields are too wet for cutting and baleing it,s a good thing we manage to get it all the cut bales into the storage barns yesterday...hence my weight loss, very physical work, my husband said I worked like his younger wife...more energy than the kids..

Laura I am so happy for you, I know what it is like to live far away from family, I met my husband while at university we got married and moved back to my island and lived there until his mother could not cope with the farm any more...and the other siblings were not interested..my husbands family has farmed here for over 200 years, we live on a road with our surname...that how long his family is here so we move back...and I became a farmer's wife, but I left behind my family and lifelong friends... it,s a good thing for Skype to keep in touch..so I am happy that you have been adopted

Shelly, i am so happy to read that your baby is back home...she missed you as much you missed her she just did say.

MtherGoos, if there was a way I would send all my friends here fresh organic veggies, fruit and eggs, we became organic farmers 17 years ago, we are very fortunate to live in a fruit belt and near a tourist hub and we sell mainly to restaurants...you continue to inspired me with your strength and determination, way to go on the down size jeans and weight loss, and wonderful sprite..

DQ/how about you send me some lobster and I send you some eggs..fair trade..thing of you..sending you hugs..can't wait to see your photos.

Back down to low after hovering a few days. Slept in and had a giant brunch.

4 eggs, Parmesan, feta cheese, spinach, red onion, mushrooms, 1/2 avocado, w butter and some coconut oil to cook with....and coffee with hwc and Splenda.

7.51 carbs/9.4 fiber/77.53 fat/39.45 protein

Good Morning Everyone! Another drop today of almost 1 pound! In the bigger picture, it's still only 8 pounds from where I started the month at, it's just all coming at once as my body heals. I'm thankful for it though, and I'll take it any way I can get it! LOL

1moregin, I would give it a few days to see if your changes work, and go from there. Sometimes it takes a few days for the changes to be effective. That's just my 2 cents though. LOL

Trini, Seriously, it sounds so wonderful to be living on a farm and living the way you do. A lot of work I'm sure, but it still sounds wonderful! Thanks so much for the compliments! I certainly never would think of myself as inspiring anyone, I get all of my inspiration from all of you and from my daughters. Thank you for saying that!

Shelly, are you enjoying your daughter being home?

Pcaltman, don't worry. If it was just too much cheese, I'm sure it will come right back off. Darn water weight can be SO frustrating!!

I can't even get sad about the up down... plus I know I'll probably drop 10# next month, did last time I bounced up and down all month. Found a great organic locally grown market here. Made creamed spinach today was wonderful. Have a refridge full of fresh veggies. Have I mentioned I love veggies? The roommate said the refridge was growning green stuff.. I about freaked out until I realized he was talking about the bag of spinach.

MtherGoos - glad to see yer still losing.

Trini I grew up on the farm so at least the being in the middle of no where isn't new. As I find new shops and meet people it's making it easier to be away from home.

Ugh! Made it home safely from Germany but the scale was not my friend. Not sure if it was all the extra protein I consumed, the crazy amount of salt in the meats, the piece of apple strudel I indulged in or the 9 hour flight --- but I was up over 3 lbs today. I know some of it is water weight and will hopefully come off quick. Sad that I did better on vacation than I did with a business trips! Will be very strict today. However, that won't be easy as we are going to a Nationals baseball game today. Can't imagine they will have many LC options!!! Will eat before we go and bring a Quest bar just in case.

Hi Julie welcome back, I think you did wonderful and you know you'll have things back and down very soon.
DQ wonderful on the eggs organic eggs are the best, rich in colour and better for you..happy chicken, doing happy chicken things make wonderful eggs.
Laura farm girl, I am a city girl really, but I have adjusted to this life with a once monthly visit to my girl friend in the big city. I was lucky that I had been coming to this area for many years and already knew and made some friends, but I still get homesick for my island, especially in the cold grey days of winter.
MtherGoos, it indeed a busy life, and we are always at the mercy of mother nature, both of us also have other jobs away from the farm, because what many people don't know that many farmers across Canada and the USA have to support their families by taking second jobs. I'm not complaining it is just a fact of many lives and we knew that going in..the benefits far out ways the cons. I always urge everyone to support their local farmers.

Take heart we can all do this the well being of eating lower carbs far out ways the scale..

Enjoy the day everyone.

Keep posting. It,s wonderful to have so many lively posting to read after a hard day work..

Mthrgoos i'm so glad you're doing so well and healing!! Yes i'm Loving having my sassy girl back home! They had such a wonderful Church camp Other then a little girl getting Snake bit! Thank God she's Ok though!!
Laura sweetie i'm Yo-Yoing bad this last half of the month and Hate it!! I think I need to change up what i'm eatting. Not more carbs just differant foods. I've been eatting a lot of bacon and eggs and I Love them but maybe my bodys adapted to them?

Trinigirl- having friends somewhere sure helps the transistion.
Shelly - or maybe your body is being more sensitive to the salt in the bacon. Some days I can eat it no problems (and I mean lots of it) other days not so much.
Julie - BACK!!!!! Glad ya had a good time. That 3# will be gone in no time!
