I was reading somewhere that our body remembers milestones or weigh points... whatever ya want to call it. I period you spent at a set weight. I stayed in the low 220's for quite some time in my life so I'm thinking maybe that had something to do with it. Just glad I'm not stuck anymore and might make more than my goal for the month... SPA DAY is calling my name just 11 pounds to go.

I am so happy that my weight is shedding slowly, I had a bit of a whoosh there and now LOTS of people are commenting on my size- suddenly it is noticeable even to the people who see me every day. I do have to tell them I started this back in March and then they sort of accept it. I am not pushing my WOE but there seems to be lots more salads at lunchtime in the breakroom now!

I am really looking forward to weighing myself tomorrow as today I did really well plan wise and I wanna get under 182...

Congrats to all the 'losers' and happy sunday weigh-in!

good morning everybody

i'm not a daily poster any more but i still join every month and i like to post any changes. i saw a new low this morning 236.1...seeing those numbers makes me very happy because of being stalled or stuck in the 240's for months. i'm hopeing to make it down into the 220's this summer. my weight lost has slow down after a year but i still stayed on plan, because of the health benefits of low carbing and for weight control.
i've been low carbing this time for about 15 mos straight/no cheats, & my blood sugar & blood pressure are in control and i dont need those meds any more.

Good afternoon, my people.

My storyÖ(or therapeutic ramble )

I joined the May challenge with a goal of getting to 240. Unfortunately, a scale debacle threw me for an emotional and mental loop that I just couldnít snap out of. I fell off the wagon for over two weeks. Ate crap every day and felt like crap. Canít understand how I know Iím doing something that makes me feel bad, yet I canít stop. Itís my only addictionÖnever smoked, no drugs, no alcohol to measure outside an occasional fun night out. Food is it for me. Itís my go-to for most things. Keeping it in check will be a forever battle. So, May ended up being a bust, but I hopped back on the wagon at the start of June. Itís taken me this long to undo the bad I did.

My yo-yoing issue wasnít helped when I went to the doctor on Thursday for my annual check-up and told him Iím doing Atkins. He is totally against it, even though I told him I incorporate a lot of vegetables and nuts into my diet. He went into how Dr. Atkins died and on and on and on. He wants me to read The Starch Solution by John McDougall, watch the Forks Over Knives documentary, and abandon Atkins. I started to read some reviews on that book/diet and there are a lot of negative things out there about that diet, too. So which is the worse of the two evils? Which doctor to believe? I think now I need to go with what I know and trust, and thatís Atkins.

Motivation seems to be the key for me. Something to work towards. A goal. Iím travelling to my home state in September and would like to at least be in the 230s by then. Iím starting today at 251 and setting a goal of 244 for this month.

Speaking of goals, MtherGoos has on her signature that she needs to be at 250 to ride the zipline in Vegas. I live just outside of Vegas and had a friend come out for a work trip last year. She and her work mate wanted to ride the zipline, so I drove them there and held their purses. I was the designated purse holder not because I didnít want to do the zipline, but because I couldnít due to weight. It was lonely standing there looking up at the scaffolding holding three purses. I donít want to be the purse holder again. So onward and upward! Iím almost there and MtherGoos IS there. The zipline will soon no longer be something that makes me feel ashamed, but something that makes me feel accomplished! Going from 293 to 251 is an accomplishment and I canít let that fact get blurry. MtherGoos, LauraDavis, mydear, princessmommyÖ.you and others have such inspiring stories. Iím so thankful I found this sight. Even if I donít post, I get encouragement by you all. Together in this fight of the flab!

mydear- great news ... kk now I have to go check my blood pressure. Thanks for reminding me. The last time I lost weight I didn't keep an eye on it and had an awful day ended up hours after I couldn't function my blood pressure as at 59/73.

RedSoxLady, So far, I can only Zip Line, if they let me weigh naked. But another week or so and I should be OK. But I totally know what you mean. We live about 2 1/2 hours from Vegas, and Fremont Street is one of my favorite places in the world. Every time we go, I just look at that darn zip line and know that I want to do it so badly. Next time we go, I will definitely be there! And you will too! You're doing awesome and I know you'll continue to do so.

I understand too that there's so much conflicting information out there. I really believe that it's all about finding what works for your body and what you can stick with. For some people, that is low fat and higher carb. For others, it's low carb and high fat. I know my body has reached a point where I just can't lose if I'm eating carbs. So, for me, this is the only way to go. And my lab work has come back excellent. Maybe you could have your doctor check your labs. When he sees that they're coming back good after months on this WOE, maybe you'll win him over. Sometimes the best way to bring someone around to your way of thinking is by giving him living proof.

Laura, as my scale hasn't moved in 5 days, you are my inspiration to keep going!!! You are kicking butt this month!!

MtherGoos- It'll move...mine is just in overdrive right now... it was resting up last month so it could keep pace this month!

I had to go pick up my blood pressure meds... checked my pressure before I did. Not bad haven't taken any of my blood pressure med in 3 - 4 days and it was 130/95. Better than I thought it would be. I had to have a discussion with the pharmacist to get her to give me 10mg pills instead of 20mg ones. The pills are so small you can't split them with a pill spliter properly, one side crushes. I haven't been on only 10mg of my pill in years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So YAY me

Pink you had a drop..yeah, :-) :-) did you see laura's post regarding how you body likes being at it comfortable weight and so it kind of wants to stick there...I think that is so true of stalls.

Congrats trinigirl, pink and Laura! Amazing progress! Welcome back redoxlady!

My hubby is home! It is so nice having him back. A year is a long time for a family to be apart! My excitement got away from me though. I had planned for an off plan breakfast with him at our favorite Mexican restaurant. I had a chorizo and egg burrito with some fried potatoes and refried beans. I also had chips and salsa. However, that led to an off plan afternoon involving 2 and a half slices of pizza, some chips, cookies and a bunch of grapes. Funny thing, the grapes were the best part! I also took a sip of my husband's diet Pepsi and it burned my throat. I know I am really over diet soda now! Tasted terrible. My poor eating choices ended around 3 pm and I only had water after that. I think I was so emotional with him finally being home that my resolve that has been so strong all year just went away. Thankfully the scale was only up a pound today. Hopefully I can get back in ketosis quickly too. I plan to get on the treadmill this morning to burn off the extra glycogen stores.

Good Morning Everyone! Thank you for the encouragement! Looking over my stats, I realize I've only lost 1 pound since June 4th. I do wonder though if some of it is just my body trying to heal and repair itself. Between the gallbladder, and the cancer, and then on Friday they did another round of biopsies, and I'm just wondering if some of this is my body not dropping the weight because it's busy trying to heal. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself. LOL. I'm certainly due for a Whoosh any day now!

Julie, that's so exciting! Congratulations on hubby getting safely home! You're right back on track today, so don't stress about 2 off plan meals. You had a lot to celebrate!

Laura, you're definitely inspiring me to keep going. You're doing so great.

So I started thinking that maybe I would add in some fat bombs, like Laura did, and see if that would get things moving for me again. I made some fat bombs last night, and they are AMAZING!!! They're almost too good! LOL. They were so easy! I mixed together
8 ounces of Cream Cheese
8 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil
2 Tsp Hershey's Unsweetened Cocoa
A Splash of Torani's Sugar Free Caramel Syrup
2 Droppers of Sweet Leaf Liquid Stevia Chocolate Flavored

It made 24 little fat bombs. When I enter the info into a tracker, they come up at 74 calories each and that each one is 95% fat. Does that count as a fat bomb? I haven't had a lot of experience with them, I was just kind of winging it! Hoping if I have a couple as my lunch and my snacks through the day instead of my usual, maybe this will help a little.

Mthrgoos I think that is what my body was doing after my hysterectomy in Dec. It was Soo slow in losing and I bounced around so bad! Frustrating But finally after almost 6 month my body seems to be responding again!

hi everyone! I'm at work and i have a gig later.
the barbeque yesterday was amazing! they had everything, from raw oysters to buttery brisket and bison burgers to all the fixins! It was hot outside, and i didn't feel like eating anything, so they gave me some brisket to take home. yummm!

Redsoxlady -- you are doing too well to stop now. the two weeks though-- that works against you in more ways than you probably think. As for your doctor, what exactly did he tell you about how Robert Atkins died? Atkins died from head injury complications after he slipped on some ice in NYC. If he told you otherwise, I wouldn't trust anything else he says, either. Just saying.

First started Atkins April 1, 2002.
Lost 40 pounds back then and maintained for almost 8 years...then carb creep crept. I've always been low carb, but went hard core again in March 2012.

Hit the wall again.. 215 is another one of those points I think... or maybe just a small bump. I just got done making a chicken pot pie...made a chicken stock gravy but then added cheese to make it into a kind of cheese sauce, sauteed the chicken in grapeseed oil and butter with spices and orange peel, broccoli cauliflower and mushrooms inside then made cheddar bay biscuits for the top from carbquick... IS . Now I've ready your post mthergoos and I'm back on my way to the kitchen... your fat bombs sound wonderful.
