High sodium effects my weight loss

So am I the only person who seems to stall after a few days of high sodium. I understand about the weight gain from water retention but after 4 or 5 days I only get back to my lowest weight. I am not losing anymore weight during the several day period. I am watching my sodium like a hawk but when I eat out I find I consume too much sodium.

Over mother's day weekend I had a bad day and drank a gallon and a half of water over 5 hrs and that helped.

Any other ideas? I don't add salt to any food.

our human brains have evolved to look for patterns in what happens. the problem is, we are way too quick to identify patterns that don't really exist.

I really don't see any way sodium per se could be effecting your weight loss.

And if you don't add any salt to your food, how are you getting too much of it? Just by eating things like bacon? The suggestion would be not to do that, of course, but I know that's not what you are asking!

Mostly want to say hi to another Seattlite!

Is water retention from sodium something you had a problem with before Atkins? It was for me, and the longer I've been on Atkins, the better it has gotten. Especially once I figured out I was lacking potassium and magnesium, which lead to terrible leg and foot cramps! The thing was, I was still losing weight. But I also don't weight myself. I only take my measurements.

I find now, that I have to have a certain amount of sodium before I exercise or I get too dehydrated easily.

Thanks for the advice about potassium and magnesium that might help.

Great to hear from another person from the greater Seattle area.

I have been sensitive to sodium for a long time probably due to the fact I have not addef additional sodium to my diet in many many years. I track my diet daily complete with a long list of vitamins and minerals. It is one reason I am adding a new vitamin suppliment.
