Back to Basics

I have copied and pasted this from another thread as I think is worth reminding ourselves every now and then what the basics are. I know for me I had carb creep and now I've gone back to stricter basics I have seen the scales move - so I hope this helps.......

"Over the years, I have noticed a theme in the posts about people having problems losing while on Atkins induction: many people who are not losing or who are gaining weight are toeing the line on what they consider acceptable foods (eating tons of cheese, cream, low-carb processed foods, etc.) Recently I went on a LONG stall (I’m staying on induction until goal) and I had to take a step back and look at exactly what I was putting into my body. I noticed I had slowly started eating more heavy whipping cream, more nuts, more jerky and other processed meats, more cheese, etc. I was under 20 carbs, but being under 20 carbs for the day is not the only rule for Atkins induction. Now that the Atkins plan is readily available for free online, I highly recommend that people starting or returning to induction review the rules and not just go buy whatever information they hear in passing. Now I try as hard as I can to follow these rules, in addition to the 20 carb rule:

-No nuts of any kind
-No more than 2 TBSP heavy whipping cream
-Use only REAL butter
-No processed meats (almost all processed meats that I have seen have corn syrup, dextrose, etc., even though the package says 0 carbs)
-No more than 3-4 oz of cheese
-I only eat bunless fast food burgers if they post the ingredients on their website and the beef contains nothing other than beef, salt, and/or pepper
-Nothing that has any type of sugar in the ingredients list, regardless of the number of carbs posted on the package
-No seasoning that contains sugar, regardless of the carbs (I recently discovered that flavoring meat with just cumin tastes almost exactly like sugar-filled taco seasoning you buy in the store)

The first week I did this I broke my stall and lost 6.1 lbs - hope this helps!
"

After doing Tae Kwon Do on Wednesday and Thursday I am still really sore on Saturday morning. I'd like to think that is why I'm still 2 pounds up since my muscles are still healing. Both my arms and legs are killing me!! I know the exercise is good for me so I will stick with it for now. I hope my body adapts soon so the soreness doesn't persist. My food intake wasn't too high yesterday so I don't think it is fat gain as I haven't eaten off plan since Easter Sunday! I have been a lot more hungry the last few days, likely due to the extra exercise too!

My food plan for today:
B: coffee with HWC, CO and DaVinci
L: plan to skip, maybe a small serving of almonds and/or coffee with HWC
D: Steak, grilled lobster tail, broccoli and Caesar salad (going to Red Lobster, avoiding the cheddar biscuits!!)

Kemp, hope you are doing well! Hope your Dad is doing well also!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!! Stay strong everyone!!

Morning!
151 today. I am OK with that. It went up a pound, but I ate very good yesterday. Today's eating will be good. Breakfast - bacon and eggs. Lunch - leftover bacon wrapped chicken thighs. Dinner....well don't know yet, but I am excited!

I am also hopefully going to hit the gym for a quick 20-30 ride on the elliptical when hubby takes the kids to see their cousin's baseball game.

Have a great Saturday!!!

Went walking the past few days for an hour. I think it's helping and it's making me feel better.

Edited to say that I just tried the flax muffin in the recipe forum and wow was it good! I've been having some *ahem* bathroom issues, so I'm hoping this will help. I'm so tired of eggs I could scream, so this is a nice breakfast alternative.

Finally got that water weight off! My body is still achy from the Tae Kwon Do sessions last week, which is ridiculous! My body just doesn't recover like it used to!! I survived another meal at Red Lobster last night without eating the cheddar biscuits!! I had grilled shrimp, shrimp scampi, grilled rock lobster tail, green beans, asparagus and a Caesar salad. It was so yummy! I usually just have an Atkins shake for dinner during the week so I really look forward to my weekend dinners. Even though I stay on plan, I look at them as treat meals and that helps me stay strong during the week. Gonna try to stay strong this week with my food choices and I plan to go back to Tae Kwon Do Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday! It looks to be another beautiful day in Virginia!

Happy Cinco de May!

5/5 - 150
ate on plan yesterday. I did have about 3 diet cokes...but we went to meet family at a taco joint. So I think having way more soda than normal is better than stuffing my face with chips! I did drink a lot of water yesterday. The weekends I usually slack on my water intake. But this morning I've already had 10 oz before my cup of coffee.

Have a wonderful day!

I'm impressed with everyone's losses and adherence to plan. I've decided to set a goal of 170 for May. At my age, that's a bit of a stretch, but since this is my first month back on LC, water weight should come into play. Then perhaps 5 lbs. for the subsequent months.

I fell a bit yesterday. All "legal" foods, but instead of of eggs and bacon for dinner, I had another serving of soup, which was delicious but put me up to 26 carbs for the day. Still, I was down a pound this morning.
I notice some of you are eating nuts, but they are not allowed on Induction. Do you find a small serving affects your weight loss? I usually eat a brazil nut each day for the selenium content and 6-8 halves of walnuts for the Omega 3. I miss them.

Plan for today:
Protein shake (3)
The rest of the beef/vegetable soup (8)
Coleslaw, smoked pork chop (5)
Lynn's chocolate (2) or an Atkins coconut bar (3)

Hi Everyone! I was out of town for a few days, we went to Vegas for a motorcycle race, and I stayed 100% on plan while we were there. Once again, I told myself that I was taking to have a couple of cheat meals if I wanted to, but once we got there, I just really didn't want to. So I stayed on plan, and was rewarded with a 1 pound loss when I got home! YAY!! LOL

DQ, thank you for your myth buster post. You always have such great information and I really look forward to your posts.

Shelly, you're doing so great, just moving right along! KUTGW!!

Julie, glad to see the water weight away! That class sounds like so much fun. I've always wanted to try something like that. Maybe some day!

Wendy, when I'm feeling weak or tempted, I come here and read and post a LOT. It really does help you to keep your focus.

Kemp, we all miss you and hope everything is ok.

Cheshire Girl, you're also having a very steady downward trend! So inspiring!!

Hope everybody is doing great today and having an amazing weekend!!
