DQ, you are a busy lady!

5/1-150
5/2 - 150

B - Protein Shake
L - grilled chicken
D - grilled chicken, green salad with cucumbers and hard boiled egg. We have this Zesty Italian dressing that is just plain addictive! We just want to eat salads nonstop.
work out - hopefully get a walk in with the kids after dinner. I moved office space at work. I went from the first floor to the 8th floor. Guess who's been taking the stairs?? About 2-3 times a day i have to walk down and up. My quads start burning when I reach the last 10 steps...it feels great!

Well, my first full day back to LC:
B: shake (3 carbs)
L smoked chicken thighs/ salad (6)
Sn: shake (3)
D: Bacon & fried egg with green bean salad (8)
Evening snacking is my downfall, so might eat dinner a bit later to see if that helps.

So far so good this week! Have quite a dull headache, so I'm drinking water like it's going out of style.

Today - had a meeting and didn't get a chance to have more than coffee! Boo.

B: coffee w/splenda
L: baked chicken breast, small romaine salad with hb egg and ranch dressing
D: taco salad; lettuce, gr beef, onions, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream
snacks: hb egg, ham/mayo/lettuce wraps

5/1/13 - 158.6
5/2/13 - 156.8

Went birthday shopping for my niece after the fda meeting ended (HeLLLO Kitty!), then went to what I thought was a lame salad bar restaurant but it was really fabulous. Yeah, the salad was lame (although there Were anchovies in oil!) but my salmon florentine was fantastic. A huge filet done perfectly, topped with warm medallions of goat cheese and sauteed spinach. The side was delicious grilled green beans. i could only take a few bites of each and i was full (well, the mich ultra helped. OK, back to normal routine tomorrowa,

no change today 224.4 but I'm happy with that. My body seems to need a moment to get used to a weight before it can move on.

DQ looks like you had a plan ... you go girl!

You are so cool laura- working hard, too!
I just pressed SEND on this post, over in another thread which was questioning calories in vs calories out:

JUST in case you're interested!
Ntombi is right. Read her posts -- memorize them.

Of course calories matter. You won't lose weight if you eat more calories than you expend.
And there are many ways in which the body expends calories.
BUT BUT BUT when you are starting out on Atkins, and especially if you have a lot of weight to lose, you don't need to count your calories. The answers to why are above.

As for people who lose weight and regain it, I have covered many many FDA meetings on all the anti-obesity drugs, and the doctors (who testify and who are on the panels) all say that -- yes -- it's true that most people regain the weight. It is a HARSH truth, but it is reality in 2013.

I am determined this last time to stay thin. I have to. I'll write more on this later this week over on the challenge I'm part of - Atkins Induction. But I'm just saying. Anyway -- worst case scenario. If you lose - say 10% of your body weight in a year on Atkins -- you probably have improved your health by much more than 10% and so - good for you. So, there are many silver linings to this way of eating. And there are folks here who keep the weight off for years and years (I did) almost effortlessly! (I'm convinced that some people are genetically prone to be overweight - and that it's a CHEMICAL, not a psychological thing for many of us. Of course, there are many of us who eat for emotional reasons. I am not one of those people. But I've been prone to being overweight all of my life.)

One note (as long as I'm here), in the Atkins Induction group, I posted an article the other day on a recent study published in NEJM at the end of January on some common weight loss myths. It's interesting reading.
The other note is that: exercise may make you healthier re: your heart, but it doesn't really have much to do with losing weight (unless you are a maniac and exercise long and hard enough to burn thousands of calories a day) and the other thing is that -- you don't need to drink all that water! really!

yr resident myth buster,
DQ

My choices yesterday resulted in a 2 pound gain today. We had a pizza party at work and I started eating the toppings off one piece of supreme pizza, planning to stop at one. I then continued to eat the toppings off 3 more pieces! After 4 (Costco size slices) I had way too much sodium and many more calories than I normally consume. I also went to Tae Kwon Do with my son for a second night in a row last night. It is surprisingly strenuous and my muscles are REALLY sore this morning. I know the muscles are holding extra water for repair. Hopefully these extra 2 pounds will be back off tomorrow!!

Welcome back mydear! We missed you!
Way to go Cheshire Girl!

Great to see the successes. Sorry for those with setbacks, but as slow as I lose weight, I know I'll be joining you. I weight the same as yesterday and the day before. I had hoped super low carb would give me some initial weight loss to encourage me. But, nah, my body wants to gain weight but she does not want to lose. The disappointing thing was my blood sugar was much higher than normal this morning -- 150 instead of the normal (for me) 100-110. That is disturbing.

Today's plan is the same as yesterday except I'm going to make some LC soup -- sort of the cabbage soup recipe with a ground beef added. I'll eat that for supper.

Here's to a loser day for all of us.

Started in April, everyone is so friendly. I was truly shocked to see just how many carbs I WAS eating before. This has been a real eye-opener. It can be a bit dull, but definitely do-able, and surprisingly easy in restaurants.

Shelly, I can't believe you got snow in May!! I am originally from southern Missouri near Mt. Home, AR and I don't remember it ever snowing that late. My dad said it was much colder this week there. Hope it warms up for you soon!

Congrats DQ on the teal pants! Those sound fun!!

Welcome to all our newcomers! Look forward to sharing this journey with you!

Food today:
B1: coffee with HWC and CO
B2: grande cafe Americano at Starbucks with half-n-half and 2 Splenda, almonds
L: salad with steak, cheese, HB egg, mushrooms and Ranch dressing
S: Atkins shake (meant this to be dinner, but was starving 2 hours later)
D: 1/2 cup flax granola with 1/2 cup almond milk
Lots and lots of water!

I am still very sore from my Tae Kwon Do adventures!

Have a great night everyone!
