Where has the week gone, it's just running away with me. I jumped out of bed this morning got on my scale and just got busy, this is my first down Tim for the day and just had to come and check on my friends..and it a good thing

I'm so excited! I found the Atkins App for my phone. I am looking forward to using it!
I started in this group kinda late, so I am excited to start a new month with you all. Just an FYI, I am a real fun and low maintenance person... You guys will like me, I promise ~ LOL

DQ, I think I know what song you are talking about. I think I saw in one of your posts somewhere, that you are in a band? My oldest daughter has her own band so I know how busy that life can be! Also, I see in your little profile that you like Wine and Light Beer.... My choice of beer is Michelob Ultra, and did you know that it only has 2.9 carbs??? Guess what I am packing for camping this weekend???

I feel like I am finally getting in the groove with making low carb choices. I may not be seeing fast weight loss yet, but I am going to be patient, since I am no spring chicken anymore!

I actually jumped back on the wagon on the 13th and as of yesterday the scale showed a 7 lb loss, but I won't change any stats until Monday morning.

Hi Everybody~

Once again, I've been away for a few days and I've been so so sicke! It started about 2 weeks, but then Sunday night it got really bad. I toughed it out Monday and Tuesday (mostly because I'm just too darn stubborn to go to the dr!), but Tuesday night I couldn't take it any more. I was in terrible pain and it obviously wasn't going away. So I drove the 3 1/2 hours to the ER.

Turns out my gallbladder was a mess. Full of stones, the stones were blocking the ducts, and it was all infected. At least that explains all the pain!

So they took me in for emergency surgery and removed my gallbladder, and repaired a hernia that I didn't even know I had!

So, for 2 days before the surgery, I hadn't eaten anything at all because I was in so much pain, then the 2 days I was in the hospital I didn't eat anything at all. Now I'm home, and I realize I need to start eating again, but I'm terrified. They told me that I need to eat an extremely low fat diet, at least for a few weeks. I'm scared to death to eat carbs, because I don't want to gain the weight back that I've worked so hard to lose, and eating Low Fat isn't really conducive to Atkins. I had been eating about 80% fat, 20% protein. I'm really at a loss and scared to eat anything at all.

Any suggestions????

Google eating low carb without a gallbladder - I'd post what I found but there are ads Also came across this thread - Low carb without gallbladder?

I didn't read everything included in the articles or the thread but it seems that eating a high fat diet only affects you if you ALREADY have gallstones. You should be good to continue

Hi all..... I'm on an endless trek to the Md. Eastern shore.... Weather, winds, bottlenecks, traffic at a standstill, president in annapolis and got stuck in the motorcade, blah blah blah.

passionate!!! Wow to everything, especially the 3.5 hour drive to the ER???yikes!! I don't know anything about eating LC without a gallbladder, but i will look it up. You could probably start with broth ..or make yourelf some egg drop soup and put some chicken in it ..it's really easy to make. And sugar free jello, and eggs. How about that?

Lisa..i'm in four bands and all four are playing this weekend!! Haha. jesse colter sang I'm not Lisa in the 70s. Country song. I Do drink mich ultra...that's my first choice, then miller lite, then select 55. Now I'm thirsty!

First started Atkins April 1, 2002.
Lost 40 pounds back then and maintained for almost 8 years...then carb creep crept. I've always been low carb, but went hard core again in March 2012.

Thanks PF, I jumped right over to that thread to see what people had to say!

DQ, I was hoping I could count on you for some accurate medical advice! You always know the right thing to do. I was actually going to try some chicken for lunch today and see how that goes. It's my first solid food in almost 5 days now!

You know what really shocked me.... At the hospital, they had me on a clear liquid diet. EVERYTHING they brought me was full of sugar! Ensure drinks, that had sugar in them, apple juice, jello (not sugar free), etc..... I couldn't believe it. They kept asking why I wasn't eating anything they brought me. UH...... I don't eat sugar! How could all the sugar possibly be good for me??

I can't attest to eatting immediatly after gallbladder surgery But I did have mine out in 1993 and eatting LC has Helped me a Lot! Both DH and I had ours out (his in 92) and we Both developed bad IBS afterwards. Mine is Incredibly better due to eatting LC, he doesn't eat LC so he still gets the Bad stomach cramps and runs to the bathroom!

Tomorrow -- two gigs-- afternoon in Rockville MD and then a party in the evening
Sunday - work, then my PUNK band plays in Baltimore MD
Monday morning - I fly to Ft Lauderdale to cover a conference on psychiatric drugs. meh.

My body is so weird and inconsistent! After almost 3 weeks of no losses (even had a few gains) I am finally seeing movement on the scale again. 3 pounds in a week! I am very happy to see some change, I just wish there was more consistency. I know as I get closer and closer to goal it gets harder and harder. I have focused on reducing calories where I can. I've cut back on my HWC and may cut out the added CO in my coffee for a week and see if that helps. I think at this point my fat intake is high enough through my normal WOE. Will see what happens!

Finally!

Finally going down. 161.0 lbs! I am starting my 6th day on plan. 4lbs lost (5lbs lost if I count the 1lb that was up one day and then back down!
I am taking off today to go camping. Won't be back until Monday night, so I won't be stepping on the scale until Tuesday morning. I am going to try real hard to stay focused and stay on plan while camping. I feel pretty good.

Well, i started late because of stalling a few weeks. Added that magical 1/2 avacado and Boom!! And some celery w/ ranch for snacking etc.

Here's what I have from when I did write it down

5/15-279.2-This is barrier I have trying to break for the last month!!!

5/25-272!!! On to the lowest I have been since I can remember! I think I hit 271.4 last year at one short day or two...

I weigh everyday, but I don't record on my phone app unless I lose, I was writing down everyday in a book though. I keep everything I eat on my phone. I tried to figure out why I would go up one day, but it never worked tweaking until I added the avacado.

Still drinking my beer too...

Bring on JUNE!

Didn't do well today. We went to a church camp where we went last yr and will go for a week in July. They offered to take 2,000 off the cost if a bunch of us went today and cleaned and did some repairs. Well there were 67 of us! I scraped off old paint, swept a deck, repaired deck boards, mopped a sealant onto said deck, then raked and bagged a Bunch of old leaves. Then helped replace some boards on a gazebo and raked dirt over a water line. I am Exhausted! They provided us lunch which I had been told yesterday would be burgers so I brought along 2 fat bombs for a snack. Well they served hot dogs, ugh! I have No clue how many carbs were in them. But I was starving so I had 1 with a tiny bit of chili, diced onions, cheese and mustard. Well I couldn't control the Hot dog But I could have controled the Braums ice cream on the way home! Yep had a stinkin waffle cone double dip chocolate mouse ice cream! Ugh! I feel like crud now and I deserve it! That'll be the Last ice cream for a Long time. Funny how something that I Used to Love isn't so yummy anymore. lol!
