Moniruth- I learned months ago that checking in daily was not a good trend for me to monitor and envy those that are so diligent. Too many reason for those fluctuations that didn’t necessarily mean I did something wrong (yes, I know there were plenty that were my fault) so best not to mess with my mood. I do check in to keep me honest every few days. Each of us has to find our own groove to work our plan.

Kemp- Hugs to you for all that you are going through with your dad. My mom-in-law is going though chemo for breast cancer right now and just prior had a double mastectomy. I know first-hand the struggles when the doctor says they are doing great and those we love feel/think otherwise. I am really glad to hear that your dad is recovering well.

Shelly- I remember when we were right there with the same numbers. I feel the frustration through your posts, but know I wish I was at those numbers again. It means you are doing something right. You are really doing great. Hang in there.

Lori- I am envious of your determination and commitment to exercise. I have not ever really mastered that with any consistency.

Amanda- You are doing great. 172 is soooo close.

Jaystylex- Congrats on the new marriage!!

Tinamanni: That is crazy to stay the same like that. What are you eating each day? Are you exercising at all? Just trying to help.

Tina: Thanks for that and best to your mom-in-law. And way to go on the losses 4 pounds is awesome start to the month.

Only had .6 carbs in the egg this morning, and that is it. So a VLC day that is for sure. Showed ketosis also today. Day 4 is now in the books. Hit the gym for a short workout of 35 minutes for a 308 calorie burn. Can only do weights, do to injured foot but getting it done. Plus due to my dad have not worked out for over 2 weeks. Now that life is a little back to normal hope to see if I can lose just as fast with weight training only compared to super heavy cardio. Only time will tell. I do miss my stair stepper, that was a super calorie burn.

let me just throw out one little thought. It's this -- we get fat because we do something way to much -- eat. Overeating, over doing. Eating more than a normal amount. Doing more than a normal amount. I'm all for going to the max -- being a triple A personality and all that, when it is warranted. BUT sometimes you can also over-exercise, and I am not sure that's a good thing. I'm a little worried that you are overdoing the exercise, and that may be part of the reason you hurt your foot, Kemp? Maybe dial back a little. For example, swimming is one of the best ways to burn calories without stressing out your body; how about that?
anyway, it was just a small thought, and I hope that you won't take it the wrong way.

Yeah, I know. I'm so frusterated. Its been like 3 wks since actual loss. I generally eat something like this:

B - 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 tbls CO, 2 tbls hwc, 2 tsp splenda, 2 coffee

L - 6 oz chicken breast, 1 c broccoli

D - Reuben casserole

S - 2 hardboiled egg, 1 c celery, 1 c cucumber, 2 carbs worth of something

I haven't exercised in about 2 wks due to being on Levaquin which can cause tendon problems. I went off of it but dentist said to give it a bit. I'm on erythromycin now which could be stalling me but I haven't been on it too ling... Maybe a wk? I was drinking hot chocolate every day and losing but cut it out the past wk due to stalling. It didn't help. Today I lowered cheese intake to 1 oz to see if that helps. Its weird how its just stopped. I've drastically upped my water intake hoping that would help. Nope. I will start back on 45 min on elliptical this wkend so hopefully it helps.

DQ: No offense taken. My foot is probably due to over exercising. But I love doing it. Now I love the weights I am doing, just do not get the calorie burn that i use to. They say the after burn from weights makes up for it. I hope so. If not it is what it is. I do love swimming and we have a heated/cooled in the summer lap pool at the club. They also told me not to even swim due to my foot flexing as I kicked, find that hard to believe but I am doing what I am told. Upper body workouts only. And I do thank you for the advice, I am always open to new ideas so keep them coming.

Tinamanni: It all looks good. I think the calories are a little low. I use to eat low like that but I now lose more eating more crazily. I stay around 1800-2100 calories a day. The book has ideas on breaking stalls, like meat and egg fast, upping calories or lowering protein. I use to be able to eat 20 carbs a day and lose like crazy but those days are over for me. I eat maybe 4 cabs a day. But I lose weight like crazy at that number. I am doing induction until i get to 219 pounds then will advance to the OWL part of the plan. at 219 I will be 30 pounds from goal and will have lost 55 pounds at that time. I want to take off the last 30 very slowly and hope to stay at goal for a long time.

When I get within 20 pounds of my goal it comes off very slow, maybe a pound a week. Just trying to help. I started with close to a 90 pounds to lose. I have lost close to half that in just under 2.5 months. That includes quite a few days of stalls and 10 plus days of being off plan completely, like eating only carbs for 10 days during that time. I hope you stay the course and see the power of this WOE, it will work but sometimes takes a bit to kick in.
hi, yes, i exercise almost every day....weights, cardio,(zumba, combat), jiggle (lol, vibration machine)...

i eat basically the same every day, coffee, ( bulletproof or hwc)

eggs, cheese, (not much)
salad, veggies, (been limiting these)
meat , fish

always drink lots of water...

Day 12, and I gained a pound. What?!?!?

I am beyond despair right now. I have been PERFECT for 12 days, no cheats, haven't even wanted to. I keep thinking that something's going to happen, I am peeing like crazy, drinking tons of water, not eating late, etc. Still, no weight change. My rings are still tight on my fingers, and my face hasn't changed, usually the two places I see weight loss first.

ARRRGGGHHHHHH. Again, not going to fall off the wagon, but someone please tell me what's going on. This is supposed to be easier and work better than a low-cal, tiny potion program.

Are you using a tracker? are you eating anything processed like Atkins bars or shakes? Are you using caffeine? Are you using keto strips to check your ketosis? If you are in ketosis and not losing weight then the book says you are resistant to weight loss. And it suggest things to do.

Is your salt intake high? As far as eating late in my opinion and many others(dieting professionals) what time you eat is of no worry.

At the end of the day only one thing matters Calories in to calories out. I do not care what diet you are on that is the only thing that really matters. Fortunately for us low carbers we get the metabolic advantage of being in ketosis which burns more calories even when at rest. So calories are not a major concern but we still have to watch it. If we plow through double cheeseburgers with bacon all day we will not lose but gain.(quote from the book)(of course I mean no bun)LOL

Also if you are not eating all natural things, your body can treat even fake sugar like real sugar. Caffeine can be a real culprit also. I admire your dedication to this plan, it does work, but sometimes we need to add some tweaks to get results that you want.

I have done this so many times and for so long I have figured out what works and what does not "most of the time".(wish I could just stick with it but do not have that will power yet but am going to keep trying) I still stall for weeks when I get close to goal or trying to get close to goal and that sucks, but my body eventually breaks the stall and I lose a lot real quick.

A time before, I started the plan, and did what i always did and was frustrated that I did not lose anything for 2 weeks. I was at 20 carbs a day, but eating bars and fake sugar and HWC etc, drinking espressos. I started eating 5 or less carbs a day and only ate all natural, meaning animal to plate with just a stop at the butcher. except cheese, I love cheese.(cheese doe not stall me, but it does stall some due to dairy) No nuts, no sf jello, no coffee. It worked and that is the plan I use now if i want to average a pound a day while on plan. After two weeks of that I can add in SF jello and a nut every now and then and still lose like crazy. I also work out like crazy and that helps. Just hate you are so frustrated. Hope I helped you out, ask any questions any time we would love to answer them. And again I so admire your dedication to this WOE, it does work, but it does frustrate us all sometimes. I wish I was like my brother, eat whatever whenever and never gain a fricking pound, but i got the other genes, the fat ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

Thanks so much for taking the time to give me all of this AWESOME information. I have been drinking a large Diet Coke every day to keep the sweets cravings away, but I'm ditching it. Just water all day. I haven't had a bar or shake in about 5 days, and I won't use those any more either. I have had the metallic taste in my mouth and lots of bathroom trips, so I feel like this should be working. I will buy some ketostix today after work.

Today was hard boiled eggs for breakfast and leftover grilled steak for lunch. Dinner will be naked buffalo wings and a green salad with ranch (we are going out to dinner and I checked out the menu in advance). I might do a string-cheese for a snack, but that's all.

How does that sound for a typical menu?

I should mention that I am also not new to Atkins, and I have always done better than I'm doing now eating the same things I'm eating now. Sorry for repeating since I mentioned this a few posts ago, I started Induction about 6 weeks ago and lost 7 pounds in one week, then fell off the wagon (still not sure why, I would have been doing great by now!) and now I'm back to it.

Hello,
Checking in... I did not lose anything after 1 week of the challenge, so I diverted to slashing my calories and fat. I've lost 3.2 lbs in 3 days. One more day and I will up my calories for the weekend (so my body doesn't start conserving!). I may need to do a couple low-cal days next week so I can get where I want to be. So this is an idea for those who are struggling.

Sally, I would love to see a sample of your day's menu when you have been successful. Would you mind?

Allie: It looks like you are eating great. Your menu sounds good also. I try and eat around 1800-2100 calories a day. You will need to adjust yours as needed. I cannot tell you what to eat each day calorie wise. But I have learned that the more I eat the more I lose, crazy right.

If I cut fats and calories I will lose for the short term but then stall big time and it is not easy to recover when you go into starvation mode. Eating lots of fat is the key to my success. No matter the calories I keep my fat at least 60 percent of my diet intake each day. Sometimes more, but rarely less.

Be careful with some wings at rest. they sometimes inject with sugar water to sweeten the taste. Buffalo wild wings injects there chicken tenders, each order has 6 plus carbs. I assume that is what they use, why else would a chicken tender have one carb.

Some times if i stall for days I will do what Sally suggested and cut calories, and add multiple workouts for a day or two. But I never cut my fat intake, that is an absolute must according to Atkins. Plus I love bacon and sausage and the fatty part of tasty rib-eye. That being said each person is different. I have read that to much fat will make your body think it is sugar and it can affect your losses. Oh this crazy Diet world will make your head spin sometimes. Best of luck! Glad you are getting it done.

Sure AllieBee! (Keep in mind, I'm short and close to goal weight, so this probably seems extreme to some. It's only for a couple days.)

AM: large cup coffee w/half n half

Lunch: cabbage soup, 3 oz turkey deli meat w/1 laughing cow wedge, 1/2 diet soda

Snack: Tuna packet with lite mayo and mustard
Also: a carbmaster yogurt with blueberries and cinnamon

Dinner: turkey meatloaf (includes veggies in meatloaf), 1 small slice bread with SF raspberry jam, green salad with lite dressing

dessert: couple squares of SF dark choc.

I am drinking lots of tea and cucumber water throughout the day.
This was very hard to do the first couple days, but it gets easier. I usually exercise 5-6 days a week and I've lowered the intensity.

Diet soda- I have cut down quite a bit; I think it increases my appetite.
