Whole new mindset (well, renewed anyway)

Hi all - well, time for me to get back to basics. Back to coming here and checking in, time to eat right, time to get my mind back to the CAN DO attitude and off the can't track.

Long story - gained a lot, lost a lot, gained it all and some back, lost a lot, preggo and maintained, post-baby gained it all and some more back ---
So now over a year since the baby. I don't want to be that 'fat' mom or the one that can't go on the rides and such with him. (DH hates rides so I am his only hope ). I want to fit comfortably in all the chairs again and get up and down off the floor without feeling like a whale.

SO back to induction. Once I start and get going I'm usually pretty good - I just don't know why it is so hard for me to start (or return) sometimes.

I already blew out the morning as far as carbs go - but am going to curtail to zero as best I can for the rest of the day and really start strict tomorrow.

Sometimes I find the 'first' day is easier, if I cut carbs for the second half of the previous day.
I re-started induction yesterday.

Sweet: i think that works for me too . We have similar stats. Want to be buds? . Hope your first day went well

B: eggs and cheese, coffee
L:cobb salad, banana
D: greek yogurt and tsp of pb
Snack now: salami and cheese

I know not all in the true blue induction allowed list. But soooooo much better than what i have been eating normally lately.

I wake at 1am, not hungry at all. So I don't have set meals, more like a couple snacks and one good meal a day.
B: protein drink
B2: Pepperoni and cheddar (while working)
L: Scrambled eggs (2) with sausage
S: Monterrey cheese and snow peas
D: Smoked Sausage and Creamed Spinach and Kale

Somewhere in there I also had a homemade mocha. My mom makes this super yummy sf/lc hot cocoa mix, and my DH mixes it with a shot of espresso over ice. I had it after I got home from work but before the scrambled eggs.

Honestly, I'm lazy, I dont count my carbs. . . . I try to stick with induction rules though, today I went over on the cream, from the spinach and mocha. I'm not quite in Ketosis yet. But I'm starting to make more trips to the bathroom, so I"m guessing tomorrow something. Sunday I ate fairly low carb.

Which version of Atkins are you doing? I"m doing the DANDR, but I still allow myself one cup of coffee or one shot of espresso and I drink tea while working mixed with the sf EmergenC. and I use 1/4 greek yogurt in my protein drink.

What do you think your biggest struggle this week will be?

To be honest - I don't know which version I follow - possibly the new you one? I "count" net carbs (usually only in the beginning to make sure I am not going way over) and try to stick to the 20-25 rule for each day. Though this week, I am just going to focus on eating "legal" foods only.

B: greek yogurt and a string cheese, coffee

L: small cobb salad and salami and provolone

D: ?

My challenge - is avoiding all the little snacks I usually have to get through a day - a piece of chocolate here and there, some crackers, pretzels, fruit etc. Plus having a one year old - I tend to nibble on what I make for him or have been splitting what I make for myself.

I also have to retrain myself on the convience easy to make meals - no quesadillas, no frozen mac and cheese, no pizza. Get back to making wings, hamburger meat meals, and such.

That homemade mocha sounds quite heavenly!

does your son like hard-boiled eggs? that was my go-to snack when my son was younger for both of us or a couple pieces of pepperoni and some lc veggies. My son used to dip his veggies in pb or cheese spread.

My biggest challenge is going to be Sunday. Work is twice as long and DH and I have been taking a breakfast break at Jack in the Box. I had thought, that I could order something and just remove the bun/bread. I dont really have a way to pack a 'lunch'

So far my son seems to be allergic to straight eggs and to peanuts so i have to avoid giving him both. He loves loves loves cheese. I think he will eat whatever i make him, he likes most veggies and almost all fruits. Jack in the box is a west coast thing? I am over on the east coast in NY. I used to do that with Wendy's, if I asked for no bun, they just put the burger in a dish for me. Or I stick with salads.

Dinner is a cheesburger pie .

hm I thought I replied, but it's not here. In a way I'm kind of glad I gave my scale to my mom. I still have no clue how much I weigh, just know that I am losing weight.

Jack in the Box must be west coast. They offer full menu 24 hours, so, duh, I can order a salad

How have things gone snacking with your kiddo?

Hey. Haven't been home much but did have another good lc day. I have been snacking on a handful (literally ) of almonds. Ate dinner out tonight, had cheeseburger w/o bun over salad. Ordered from a pizza joint for lunch with work crew. Got a salad and chicken verde.

No journal - i don't keep up with them. I do better with a dialogue with folks here at LCF.

I stepped on the scale to give me a starting point so later i know how far i have come.

A successful atkins weekend even broke down and cooked myself breakfast instead of just grabbing a cheese stick or cereal bar. Time for bed. Nite

Thanks Laura

Scale said -2 lbs this morning

Found out this morning that we have lost a third former student from my work (that's 3 in four months). This student was also an employee here for a short time as well. This school year just can not end soon enough.

I'm bummed out today and not in the mood to be at work. I would rather be home and cleaning. Can you believe I just said that???? I hate cleaning!!! LOL

The first student was killed in a car accident. The second had colon cancer. And the third just passed from meningitis.

Good job on the weekend eating. I'm sorry to hear about the students. That is so sad.

Dh and I skipped breakfast Sunday and I bought a packet of Almonds to see me through til I got home. I tripped on a root and lightly sprained my ankle so I didn't feel much like eating out anyway.

Again. Hugs and I hate cleaning as well. It's interesting though how wanting to have your home in order when your feeling down happens to me too.

I clean when i am most stressed or angry. Wish I liked to clean daily but I subscribe to a messy house is a happy house, my house is delirious philosophy. Lol

Breakfast was the egg and sausage out of a dunkin donuts sandwich this morning. Lunch was chicken breast slices wrapped in chedderjack with some mayo and a serving of almonds. Dinner is chicken breasts smothered in bacon and mozz. I might make a moouse with HWC and unsweetened coco powder later after the babe is washed and in bed.

The batteries are out in the scale. After several years! Hopefully DH will get it fixed soon. I'm not a generally daily weigher, more for once a week but I do try to use it in the beginning just to get that "I CAN" attitude support. Should probably take my measurements. We'll see...

Need to make myself some easy to grab breakfast stuff like egg/cheese/sausage muffins or the cream cheese muffins.

I tried jalapeno chicken sausage from Trader Joe's yesterday. They had quite the kick! Two of them with some eggs and cheese. Yummy dinner!

B: greek yogurt and pb
s: cheese stick
L: chicken with bacon and mozz, carrots (I know carby but no other veggie so I should be OK)

Not sure about dinner tonight.

Going out to book club tonight - we are discussing Ready Player One - excellent book! Will have to avoid the salsa, chips, etc. Usually the host has some cheese and/or nuts out so I'll aim for those. Or maybe just ask for a nice decaf coffee right off the bat and nurse that through the evening to occupy my hands.

Ok, time for lunch.

After we are finished with our car repairs I plan to buy a scale. It's killing me now, not having any idea how much I have lost. I'm glad that I am losing inches. A total of 6 of my waist since last Nov.

I eat a little carrots now and then. I know that Atkins wanted people to avoid them, mostly because they were higher on the glycemic index and higher in carbs. But a little bit is nice in soups and such.

I've been snacking a lot and not really eating any meals. Just not hungry enough to. plus I slipped Sunday and strained my big toe and ankle and shoulder, so I dont feel like standing in the kitchen cooking. DH doesnt cook, so I have a bunch of lc snack y things in fridge I grab a couple of bites of when I feel hungry.

I take my measurements once every four weeks. It has been really encouraging! It was interesting that after I started my job i gained 2 inches on my thigh in a little over two weeks, but lost everywhere else.

So i did just have the coffee at book club. . Even though there were all sorts of treats including a lemon tart, I love lemon desserts!

Today has been a good one food wise. Not sure about dinner yet. Time to catch up on walking dead.
