Welcome to hikeyourownhike!

Congrats to everyone who stayed on plan or had a loss!

We are supposed to get 8-12 inches of snow tonight! Schools and work will likely be closed so should have plenty of time to exercise tomorrow! Finally bought some of the ketone test strips and was pleased to see I was definitely in ketosis. Hoping for movement on the scale tomorrow!

B: coffee with HWC and DaVinci, chia pudding
L: pizza soup
D: sausage, egg and cheese on an oopsie roll
No snacks today! :-)
Lots and lots of water!

Well the results are in. 4th place, by .44 percent. The first place guy was only 30 years old and worked out twice a day so I do not feel to bad. I was only 3.2 percent behind him. And I started the challenge 5 days late after a crazy weekend eating like a wild man knowing I was about to give up all the tasty carb food. I probaly would have won had I not waited 5 days but I actually feel great about it, I did my very best for the time I worked it and I feel a lot better.

I did get in a great work out for 800 calories tonight. Looks like weights are the way to go not so much cardio. The 3 guys ahead of me did weights and cardio while I only did cardio. I guess I am just old school. On a happier note my wife won 2cnd place in the womans and received 800 dollar apple card, so Iphone 5's here we come tomorrow.

Everyone thanks for the support during this challenge and now lets challenge each other to keep on the right track!!! And put those pounds on the ground!!!

I can go about 3 days on induction, then I cheat. Breakfast I had eggs/bacon, lunch a taco salad (ground beef/lettuce/ranch/salsa) then I decided to have pasta. I'm so bad at this. I also baked peanut butter cookies for the BF and had 4. I'm just not motivated. Maybe I should plan a vacation or something.

Well, I guess I need to look again at what I am eating and tweak something. I have been eating a lot of oopsie rolls lately and I recently added chia pudding. Luckily I can eat those and not gain, but I fear they may be causing me to stall. I will cut out the oopsie rolls for a few days but keep the chia pudding for breakfast and see if there is a change. I can then stop the chia pudding, if necessary. I will also try to add coconut oil. Fingers crossed! :-)

March goal: 185

3/3: 194

Scarlett: I feel your pain. The only advice I can give you is to this. Be ready and when I say ready I mean ready. Have on hand all the foods you love that are low carb. When I start I cook a pound of bacon, 2 pounds of shrimp, make egg salad, tuna salad, fire up the grill and cook chicken with the skin on and crispy, I steam a couple of lobsters and clean them and have the meat in a zip lock, boil eggs. You get the picture and when I feel like a cheat I grab my favorte bag and pig out on what I can eat way past full but I do not cheat and stay on plan. I also keep pork rinds and beef jerkey and slim jims on hand in the car. I also eat around the clock, at night while watching tv I mean I eat but stay on plan. Do not worry about calories or anything else it is only about getting through the induction flu and on too all the energy waiting for you when you get to the other side. Once there you can worrry about calories or other things. I also stay VLC (2-5 carbs a day) in the beginning this helps get through the withdrawal quicker and puts me into ketosis asap. Also try working out hard from day one this also gets the stored carbs out of your system and makes it less likely you will cheat. This is what I do and it has resulted in great success. Not trying to be preachy just want to help.

Congrats Kemp! You did awesome. And congrats to your wife.

I did great yesterday. The only downside was dinner - I just grabbed the Bacon Ranch salad from McD's and ate about 80% of it. So I know my calorie intake was around 990. bleh. also I had 25 carbs yesterday because I didn't read the back of the dressing packet. oh well. yesterday was stressful and my gut instinct was to eat a very large burger and extra large fries. I talked myself off the ledge saying that wouldn't make the stress go away and would actually make me feel worse because I would have gone way off WOE.

I also didn't go to bootcamp this morning. I would feel guilty, but I have my gym bag packed for an intense cardio workout at the gym at lunch time.

March 2 242
March 3 240
March 4 238
March 5 238
March 6 237

Total losses so far: 37 pounds in 37 days!!!

Another pound down so that is good!!! Honestly a little down about not winning the challenge but I still loss a ton of weight. (I keep telling myself that to soften the blow)

So today trying to get in a round of golf. Have been to the gym 5 days in a row and going to take today off and let the body rest a bit. Golf is still good exercise. After the cheat this weekend I am going to come back and hit the cardio hard get back into ketosis and start a weight lifting campaign to try and trim up some of this saggy skin.

Julie: I broke my last stall by doing a one day meat and egg fast around 1000 calories (I am a big guy so not much for me) and hit the gym twice in one day, the next day was 2lb whoosh. The low calorie day also was only 1.4 carbs for the morning eggs. I call it the stall buster day and it has worked both times I have stalled in the last 37 days. Broke a 4 day stall and a 3 day stall.

Julie, I hear you with the stall and need to keep tweaking. I need to focus more so I am organized enough to find what might be stalling or slowing me down. Wishing you luck in figuring this out!

Tough yoga workout on the schedule today. I am going to try and plan my food a bit better here so today's plan

Br. Bullet proof tea- 2 TB CO, 1TB HWC, 1TB butter and 1 stevia
Br.2 two hard boiled eggs, mayo
Lunch - chicken and vegetables
Dinner- I actually have a lot to choose from. Thinking pork chops and cauliflower bake

labmini - your menu today looks great! Good luck at yoga.

Julie - your plan looks great too. I hate stalls, but I love to change things up to find out what works best. It is an ongoing experiment.

Kemp - Golf sounds so great, but we got 6+ inches of snow dumped on us last night, so it is out of the question here. Congrats to you and your wife. What a tremendous accomplishment.

roxy - not horrible. I'm certain there will be very little backlash from that. I do understand though, I would beat myself up for something like that also.

fly - great job!! that is amazing!!

I weighed the same this morning, not to worried about seeing that as I drank a beer last night and ate crawfish full of salt and bloat. I also had 10 carbs yesterday over twice my normal amount for the day. I was still purple this morning, so all good here hope to be good tomorrow after my workout tonight and seeing if I won the challengs.

mydear-I feel like I'm going to have to come there and fix that elevator myself! I can't believe this has been going on since Thanksgiving!

Kemp-Congrats on losing 36 lbs in 35 days! Also, if your anything like me, I would stay away from those oopsie rolls. Anytime I have cream cheese or any dairy, I stall or even gain. Yesterday, I made cream cheese muffins (really mini cheesecakes with only 1 carb) and I am up a pound for it. I guess I am one of the unlucky ones who has to stay on a strict meat and egg diet to lose.

So today, back to strict m/e fast:

Yesterdays menu:

B: eggs/bacon
S: Cream cheese muffins
L: taco salad
D: Porterhouse steak/spinach
S: cream cheese muffin

March goal: 187

3/1: 191.6
3/2: 190.6
3/3: 190.6
3/4: 191.6
3/5: 191.8
thanks kizz..they are replacing the pull doors with sliding ones and remodeling the whole elevator...and it taking for ever......

No loss today, but no gain either, so I guess I'll be thankful for that. Not really, I wanted that scale to move! Keeping at it today and hoping for maybe a little movement tomorrow!

MyDear, I just wanted to say whan an inspiration you are! You're losses are keeping me motivated!

DQ, not to rub it in, but it's 80 and sunny here!

Kemp, fingers and toes crossed for you today! Can't wait to hear the results.

Cheshire Girl, maybe now it's time for the whoosh fairy to visit you! Hopefully this will work for you!

So, my niece and my daughter both know that there are some things I've wanted to do for a very long time, but, because of my weight, I can't do them. So my niece says that when I lose enough weight, she's taking me skydiving, and my daughter says that when I lose enough weight, she's taking me zip lining down Fremont Street in Vegas. Two of the things I've most wanted to do!! If I needed more motivation, that's definitely it!!
hi Mthergoos thanks, you can do it...just stay focused and dont let anything make you go off plan.. good luck

WOE: whatever works
Good Morning!

My scale was unchanged for the 3rd day in a row...not even an ounce or two. Wondering if I should replace the batteries....
Anyway, the gym was closed again last night due to the weather, so we are going tonight. We normally don't go on Wednesdays cuz it's super crowded, but I don't want to wait until Thurs. So my gym schedule will now be Wed, Thurs, Sat, Sun for this week.

B - 2 eggs, 1 slice muenster cheese, 1 slice tomato, 6 bacon
L - egg/chicken/spinach soup (I wish I'd have measured all my ingredients when I made this soup so I would know how to count it...)
D - turkey, cauli-rice
coffee w/CO, lemon water & 1 green tea

3/1 - 208.8
3/2 - 210
3/3 - 209.8
3/4 - 210.2
3/5 - 210.2
3/6 - 210.2

Thought I'd do a quick check in before I'm off to proctor state tests this morning. My eating lots of bread of Saturday did catch up to me, so I'm at 196 this morning, but I'm not gonna let it phase me. I'm still in ONEderland so that makes me very happy! I've been on plan all week so far, so that is good news!

KEMP-Great job on your 40 day challenge!
ChelseyBelle-Couch to 5k is a great program. I probably should start that back up too!

Hey! You don't have to drink all that water!

DQ- Found a little info for you...sounds like flavored vodka is a thumbs up

Different flavored vodkas
For a distilled product that is known for its neutral taste, character and appearance, try vodka with flavorings. In the last few years, the flavored vodka market has grown extensively. Orange and citrus vodkas are the most popular flavors. Besides fruity vodkas though, they now make sweet vodkas like marshmallow, whipped cream and cotton candy flavored vodkas as well as more savory flavors such as pepper, horseradish and bacon vodka — perfect for your bloody mary!

How is flavored vodka low in carbs?
Think of the process of making flavored vodkas as similar to the distillation of dry gin, a zero-carb spirit. During one of the distillation cycles, flavoring agents such as fruit oils or even botanicals are added to the vodka. As the mixture is heated, ethyl alcohol rises as a gaseous vapor through a still with the essence of the flavor attached to the alcohol molecules. When cooled and condensed, the vodka retains some of the induced flavoring — but without carbs.

As a general rule of thumb, flavored vodkas with a proof of 70 or above are carb free. Stick with brands such as Stoli, Smirnoff, Gorden's or Absolut, and you should be OK.

Hope this helps!
