It is a beautiful sunny day in Virginia. I am very excited as I'm going to the hair salon to get a new hairstyle and highlights to go with my new body! Today I fit in a pair of size 12 Capri pants! I'm mainly wearing 14's right now so that was awesome (started this WOE barely fitting in size 18). The evil TOM is making it hard to not retain water this week so I was up a pound this morning. I have been strictly on plan so not too worried. Hopefully the whoosh fairy will visit at the end of week so I can make my March goal before the end of the month!

Hope everyone has a great day!!

March goal: 185

Reta: I usually have so much energy when on this plan I do not need anything in the mornings. Most workout mornings I get up early and just head to the gym, maybe a glass of water and that is it. Of course I drink during the workout also. Then after I hit the cafe for 2 eggs and some applewood smoke bacon. Delicious. But when I first come off of caffeine it does suck the first few days or a week even. But once I get past withdrawal it is all super energy just from burning fat stores. Hope it works for you like it does me. It was not easy getting to no caffeine, but I love the fact I do not get up and start searching for a coke or espresso just to get going. I wake up ready to get going after about 15 minutes or so. It is a great diet for energy but it still takes a little bit to get moving. I will sometimes do some jumping jacks first thing in the morning to get the blood pumping and that helps a a lot.

i worked the overnight yesterday and stayed up yesterday-- no not much sleep at all over the past 2 days. Working overnight takes its toll in many ways, one of which is swollen feet and ankles. meh meh.
I know i have another week -- this has been a difficult month for me! But I will CARRY ON!
Did i tell you that I'm going to japan next week for about 5 days? wheee!

Thanks Kemp. I know I won't be able to workout the next five days, so I should be good to go by Tuesday for sure. This makes me feel better. I really enjoyed that last .5 caffeinated coffee this morning. But, the love affair is ova!!!!.

Reta – I’m loving your list. It is so true. Your plan for staying LC and caffeine free looks good too.
Kemp – Your menu looks marvelous. We do the same thing at my house, cook all days Sunday – pork roast, burgers, whole chickens, bacon, sausage! I think you may be right about watching the sneaky carbs. I have to get back to basics, then maybe I will do better. I just have gotten to love my condiments too much lately.
DQ – Never had quail, but that sounds good! I would love to go to Japan, that sounds like fun. You will have to tell us the food options there. I was reading a board back in December that some guy was giving up LC because he was in Japan and it was so difficult to do there. You are so seasoned at this WOE, I will look forward to your perspective on this.
Cheshire – My February was like that! Very frustrating. Nice drop today though.
Straphe – the drink sounds devine! I go to the gym on an empty belly all the time. I actually find I feel worse if I do have something on my belly. My energy probably suffered a bit in the beginning, but now that my stamina is up, it really doesn’t bother me to eat after the gym and have nothing before.
PassionateFire – you are doing so good. Glad you made it to goal and stayed there. My ups and downs are so crazy, I do not know if I will be at goal at the end or not.
Julie – congrats on the water weight. I wish mine had gone back down like that! Last time I went to Mexican I took my pork rinds and hand the salsa. No one order queso, or I may have had that also! I love the new size. It is so exciting when we get to wear a new size.
Labmini – every new job is an adjustment, but that commute sounds brutal! I will be starting my new job in a couple of weeks, but luckily it is in the same building and I will have the same commute. I will not complain about my 25 minute (one way) commute anymore though.
Harm – sounds like you have a great attitude
Ceecee – I love that your doctor is on board. I wish mine had been 8 years ago and maybe I would have never gone off LC. Oh, well. Congrats again!
Kiwi – going in the right direction again.

Afternoon everyone!
Well back Down to 152 This morning! ugh! I ended up going to the Dr this morning since my sickies are still with me. I have an Ear infection and sinus infection! Ear infection at age 44! lol! So on meds now and Praying i'm over this junk asap! I also had him check my thyroid levels too. He didn't seem to really want to since his partner Dr W had checked them in December and lowered my Meds then but i'm nearly positive that my thyroid levels are off again. So I should find out in a few days.
Hopefully he will be able to adjust my meds and I can lose weight again!

I had my first foot laser treatment today. I have to go twice a week for three weeks and they think that will cure it up. I hope so. I am going to try everything before surgery option. This is basically the last thing they can do before they start cortisone shots directly into the tendon sheath. Then it is off to surgery. I am hoping for this laser thing to work because it does not hurt at all.

Well at least I made the gym today for a 550 calorie burn. If I work in a 20 minute ab work out after weights it ups the burn rate that is for sure. Plus I always wanted another six pack!!!! LOL yea at age 45 I am just going to drum a six pack up in a couple of weeks. Anyway I am not showing ketosis on the sticks, but I am back in from the way I feel. Dang this WOE is awesome in the feel great department!!!!

Shelly, I had and ear infection a 43. My first one ever. It was horrible. Take care of yourself.

Kemp, I hope the laser works. Surgery bites every time.

I'll be getting some Ketostix next week. I've never tried them. But I'll be ready when I get back.

Okay, I've decided this is the wrong time to stop caffeine and AS. I need to wait until after this trip and TOM. I don't want to add to DHs stress level. I almost had it licked, but today after some stress with the bank, dog and last minute details with my clothes - I cant take a chance of not being on my A game for the next 5 days. So, I'll keep it a a cup a day with AS in that and some decaf as well. I will count those carbs tho and keep it under 10. I don't view this as a set back, but as a much needed adjustment at this time.

Wish me luck next week when I start the fight over.

Nearly totally repaired the damage and I am tightening up my diet 1972 style.
It is having the effect of having me in stronger ketosis more often(my mouth feels like I have been sucking pennies and using my tongue to clean the carpet )

Kiwi, Lori, Nicki: congrats on the loss. KUTGW!

Reta, I feel your pain! I was able to get down to one cup of coffee per day but I can't quit coffee completely. Giving up my diet coke wasn't too hard, but I would really miss my one cup of coffee! Good luck when you decide to tackle that again!

Dairy Queen, I hope you enjoy Japan! We have lived there twice now, five years total. We loved it! So much to see and do! Hope you get some free time while there. Will not be too hard to stay on plan as long as you love sushi/sashimi! Be careful of their salad dressings though as most are very sweet. Will you be in Tokyo? Have a great time!!

Shelly, I hope your meds work fast! Get better!!

Kemp, great job getting right back on track. Good luck with the laser treatment!

I had a great day and love my new hairstyle. I just wish the weather was better! Still very cold here. I think I ate a little too much today......will see what the scale says in the morning! I am still using my LC cheesecake to address my TOM sweet cravings and I'm sure it's not helping my weight loss!! :-) However, it is keeping me sane!

Have a great night!

B1: coffee with HWC, CO and DaVinci
B2: small piece of LC cheesecake
L: shredded pork salad with salsa, sour cream and guacamole (Mexican restaurant)
S: small piece of LC cheesecake
D: lamb kabob on salad with Iranian yogurt sauce

Julie:
Like kiwi said sane is good. Real good!!!!

Kiwi: The original atkins will do that. I drink so much water that I rarely show more than moderate. But my DW says she can smell the ketosis on my person and my breath.

I am hoping to see a loss on the scale but not holding my breath. We will see?!?!?!?

I drink a ton of water to flush the system out, it also keeps me very hydrated. It helps with cravings and keeps the belly really full. I do have to get up 3 times a night to pee. In my crazy mind each time I pee it is fat leaving my body.

careful. There is a thing called secondary drowning or water intoxication and even at lower levels than fatal it can do damage,

"Drinking the standard amount of water recommended to the masses can literally ruin one’s life – physically and emotionally. This is not overly sensationalized shock talk. This is really happening. And few ever connect the water dots to their mediocre health, crappy mood, and unstable mental state.

And if something that simple can have that big of an effect, so can just about any health “tip” out there.

While I normally tell people to just follow their instincts with their salt cravings, sweet cravings, and desires for fluids – the problem with overhydration is that a symptom of drinking too much is dry mouth and excessive thirst. So we have a real potential for triggering a vicious cycle here with too much drinking. Fluids that encourage us to drink beyond thirst (for motivations other than thirst) can be a problem too. These include coffee, tea, and diet drinks (addictive stimulants), fluids that warm us up when we are cold, and most certainly alcohol. Alcoholic beverages seem to be really debilitating for those in a weakened metabolic condition.

If you have very clear urine and some health problems like anxiety, chronic fatigue, migraines, yada yada, you should work hard to get some color back into your urine – in effect increasing the glucose and electrolyte concentration of your cells. I’m not talking about dehydration, just ideal hydration – and keeping it as stable as possible in what is probably the ideal range (let’s say, 3-4 on a refractometer, but there is probably a great deal of individual variation here)."

...summed up nicely in a health blog.

Passionatefire: Well there you go, goal is reached with a few days to spare.

Cheshire: A few days in a row of a down trend and you are off to the races. Good job.

Kiwi: Never heard that about water. I knew you could drink to much but that had to be a whole lot. I keep my urine pretty clear over all. Even in the mornings it is only slightly colored. I have done it this way for well ever since I have ever done Atkins. I never really measured but I drink at least 7 liters of water a day. I say liters because I drink FIJI water liters. It is easy to count the bottles in my cars floor board at the end of the day. I really have no idea what my daily water should be. Interesting.

March Goal 228

March 1 242
March 2 242
March 3 240
March 4 238
March 5 238
March 6 237
March 7 237
March 8 238 (WTH) (going off plan at 2pm)
March 9 DNW
March 10 DNW
March 11 249 (12 pounds gained in 3 days)
March 12 245 (now that is a whoosh>>>4 pounds of water, yea!!!)
March 13 242 (all water but fun none the less)
March 14 238.4 (well there you go, took 3 days to lose the weekend carb fest)
March 15 237.2
March 16 236.0
March 17 236.4 (up!!! what the heck, not worries, had too much cheese)
March 18 234.4 (a whoosh!!!!)(40 pounds on the ground)!!!!!!!
March 19 233.4
March 20 232.0
March 21 229.6 (stepped on scale 5 times, then old rotary one which even said less)

March 23 DNW
March 24 DNW
March 25 241.4
March 26 235
March 27 233.4
March 28 232

Down another 1.4 today, I am loving the trend. Just need 4 more pounds in the next 3 days. I make it but going to keep trying. Will hit the gym today and do the yard today so will be a good calorie burner day that is for sure.

Morning evyone!
Kemp..yeah, what kiwi said. Human bodies need from 8 to 13 (females -males) total liquid per day. Total liquid. And fat doesn't flush out in urine. But if it helps you stop cravings, that's a good thing.

Julie, i'm going to kyoto! I guess i shd eat sashimi and sushi, which i love, but with no rice, right???

DairyQueen, Kyoto is so beautiful this time of year. All the cherry blossoms should still be in bloom too!! Sushi/Sashimi without rice will be perfect! I also enjoyed their beef and onion bowls without the rice. One other warning, they like to drizzle a little sauce on a lot of the sashimi that looks just like mayo. However, it is more like miracle whip and a bit sweet. Man, now I'm craving some sushi!! I hope you have a great time!!

Congrats Nicki! Another pound down! Great job!!

Wow, lots of good stuff on here today.

Im doing a quick check to say I Hate hate hate eating out or what someone else cooked. with that in mind, I havent eaten alot today. had one cup of coffee mixed with one decaf. Read some of Atkins72 book on the road. after an early dinner, started feeling weird. couldnt put finger on it. then I remembered the book said when in doubt- eat. So, i'm eating pork rinds now and that weird feeling is gone. Duh, I havent eating enough at all yet. I might need a straight hamburger tonight while others are having that wonderful carrot cake. It was cooked especially for me, but right now I say just cook me some beef! hahahaha. Im so thankful I have no desire for it. I know on trips and special occasions I could off plan, but I dont want to. I love the way I'm feeling.

the water - yes, I've heard that before. even my doc told me to ease up on it. I normally drink, coffee/tea included, 21 cups a day (168 oz). more when I work out. But my urine is dark yellow only 1st thing in the morning. atkins does make me desire more fluids. I'll figure it out.

my weight went back down as of this morning. yeah.
