wow I just tried the one minute muffin! It is sooo good.I didn't know about all this legal cheat food when I did atkins the first time.
I covered mine in grated hard cheese and reheated it until the cheese melted for my lunch.
I am still getting used to a diet where you taste something and go "I know what this needs, more butter..."

I am back! And I am so happy to see so many familiar faces are still hanging in there!

I can see by the little ticker that I haven't logged into LCF since December 7, 2012. I started Atkins on June 5 at 194. 8 pounds. On Thanksgiving morning, I was down to 150.8. After Thanksgiving, and closing on my dad's house the first week of December, I was settled down enough to actually enjoy all the hustle and bustle holiday season with my family.

I did put on maybe 2 pounds between Thanksgiving and the wee hours of December 21st when life went to hell in a hand basket. My husband had a massive hemmorhagic stroke in the right side of his brain. My kids, sister-in-law and I were taken to a quiet room (mind you there was not another soul in the ER waiting area) and told that what had happened to him was "not survivable." We were told to say goodbye. A fantastic neurosurgeon happened to be at the hospital early that morning to round on his patients and he said there was one surgery that he could try that could alleviate the pressure building in his head and give him a shot at survival. I rolled the dice and said "try it." My husband was given a 10% chance of just living through the surgery. He did. He has done so amazingly well that it takes my breath away. He spent 19 days in the ICU and then was transferred to the VA hospital in Syracuse, NY for inpatient rehab where he spent another 16 days (a 3 hour drive for me to see him daily). He came home exactly 5 weeks after he left in an ambulance. He's still not allowed to drive, he does tire easily (although he's made huge strides with his stamina since he's been home), but he's really stunned every medical professional that he's seen with not only his survival but his rate of recovery. We even took a one mile walk last week!

So, because of this shock to all of our systems, and the outpouring of love, prayers, and food from friends and family, I fell off the wagon a bit. It was simply too difficult to try and maintain LC when you find it hard to find time to stop at the grocery store! And when you come home and find some lovely person has left a pot of soup, or a casserole, on your doorstep. At a time when nothing was easy mentally, it was just easier to eat whatever someone had dropped off than to have to think about the food. I have managed to have enough on plan/low carb days over the last 3 months to help keep the gain to minimum.

This morning, I was at 157 pounds (down 4 from the 161 that I topped out at after Jeff's stroke). With his recovery going so well, I am ready to focus a bit more on me and my own health again. I know how great and supportive all of you are and how much the daily check-ins on the forums helped me stay on track, so here I go, ready to start again!

Thanks for listening to me ramble on!

March 16: 157

March goal: 151

wow I have so much sympathy for you.In 2007 my husband rang from work to say the emergency helicopter was waiting to airlift him to hospital. He had his arm crushed.Against medical odds after 5 surgeries,a skin graft etc he kept his arm and now not only works blue collar but bench presses 175lb!It is hell for the other half though trying to cover everything.I am so glad to hear your beloved is also a 'despite medical odds' person. Good luck to you all.

Welcome back Gypsie. Wow, what an amazing story. Thank God for that surgeon being at the right place at the right time.

Kiwi, that's great about your husband, too. He's gotten very strong.

Wow, Gypsy, that's one hell of a couple of months you had, it's a wonder you managed to stay around 150-160. Hope your husband's recovery continues in this trend.

I've had a really bad week/weekend. Went off plan on several occasions, and I can't even go to the gym until late next week. Even though I'm still around 200, I'm sure my weight will go up significantly tomorrow.

Haha! We have a fish and chip day once a month at work so I just order the fish and try not to eat the batter - add it to a big green salad

Gypsy: Glad your back, and so sorry to hear about your husband. That is a a huge survival story. So happy he made it through. I wish you guys the very best. Oh and great job on only not going completely off the rails. I took one weekend off and gained 12 pounds.

Straphe: Little cheats happen especially on weekends. At least you made it with out to much damage. Good job.

Cheshire:
A loss is a loss. I had a little gain this morning.

Passionatefire:
Looks like Tom is being kind and not bloating as it seems to do to my wife. Glad you are still seeing losses.

March Goal 228

March 1 242
March 2 242
March 3 240
March 4 238
March 5 238
March 6 237
March 7 237
March 8 238 (WTH)(off plan at 2pm)
March 9 (off plan at 2pm)
March 10 DNW
March 11 249 (12 pounds gained in 3 days)
March 12 245 (now that is a whoosh>>>5 pounds of water, yea!!!)
March 13 242 (all water but fun none the less)
March 14 238.4 (well there you go, took 3 days to lose the weekend carb fest)
March 15 237.2
March 16 236.0
March 16 236.4 (up!!! what the heck, not worries, had too much cheese)

That is 36 pounds in 48 days

Well a slight up tick. I did not work out due to funeral and that workout is key to my weight loss. If I miss I do not lose or gain. Luckily I like to work out. Speaking of that after this post will eat a little breakfast and then hit the gym for a hard 1.5 hour work out. Then home to do all the yard work I missed yesterday.

Glad to have Gypsy back and everyone doing well.

DairyQueen: What no wine today, that is blasphemy!!!! I have added a glass of wine on Friday nights. Once I get into the 220's I will be adding one nightly. Only 6.5 pounds till paydirt!!!! I had a little bump in the weight myself, but no worries.

Hey Yall, guess what!?!?!?!?!? My weight is back up at 178.4. Im sick of playing tag with that .4 lbs, so Im changing things up a bit. I did a step workout and added some tabata on the end to the tune of 60min and 890 calories burned. Right now, I'm feeling pretty good, but that workout and stevia may be adding to hunger pains. I will stay the course with lc food/snacks and carry on. I deal with the cake when I get to it.

coffee w/stevia, cream and HWC
2 eggs cooked in butter, 3 bacons
salad, rotissere chicken, hot sauce
Atkins bar
salad, grilled chicken (eating out after church)
fight the urge to eat cake at party later

I'm not sure that it has changed, I am just going by his recommendation to not eat if you are not hungry. I have been in deep ketosis for awhile now, and it just makes me not hungry to where I have to make myself eat. I'm finding that calories DO add up, low carb/low fat/ or low calorie, so I just watch those as well. Hope this helps answer your question!

If it was me I would just tell her truth and maybe suggest substituting the biscuits for something LC so you can still have the social interaction

Thanks everyone! I was just shy making goal last month, so this feels encouraging!

Kiwi-I would do like Cheshire suggested, and maybe bring my own cookies, here in the US we have sugar free cookies in the diabetic section of the grocery store, or you could even make your own from one of the recipes here on this site
My family always tries to offer me sweets, but once they realized that it didn't even bother or tempt me, they finally left me alone.

thanks.I never thought to look for diabetic cookies.I wonder if we get them here?I have just found the recipe section here so maybe I can find something if they don't.
I am going to the best supermarket later for 'different' things (if the most expensive :/)hopefully they might have them.

Kizz: Way to go on making goal. That is awesome to see. You stayed the course and did not budge and were rewarded. Get 'er Done!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kiwi:
That is a tough one. Sounds like Cheshire has the plan however. Good luck. The book says, "just this one little taste" is the kiss of death! It actually says that in the book and a truer statement has never been spoken. After doing this for so long I have learned that the hard way. I have to plan just this one little taste far in advance or it will wreck my plan quickly.

Got it all done today, gym, yard work, house work. I am now going hunting and fishing next weekend. Leave Friday early and come back Sunday late. I am going to try and do vodka instead of beer. Drink called olive soup. Basically vodka and olive juice. Very tasty. And zero carb!!! Just can't drink it like beer or you will not make lunch before passing out. Yes we drink early when at the ranch. Already called the cook and told him I am on no carb and to stock the pantry with porkrinds and pickles. I will attempt to not cheat at all on the food like last time I went out of town. So this week will be hitting it hard in case I come off the rails on the weekend.

Thanks DQ! I am almost 5'10.....I know, I should post a picture, the one up right now, I was 9 months pregnant....lol

I have a hard time resizing the pictures to make them upload-able. I'm also not sure how to add a photo in the threads like MyDear does sometimes, anyone know how?
