I was unfocused at the beginning of February and gained a few pounds. I refocused myself on February 13 and have been sticking to plan and have really kicked up the exercise. I noticed when I don't come to these boards and read and post I start becoming unmotivated and lazy. It's great to have support here. My sister is overweight and always says she wants to low carb and is always starting next week - she tries to sabotage my efforts so coming here helps keep me strong!

Lets drop some pounds!!!! I have been looking for another thread to join and this one looks like it could be good. Posting here keeps us accountable, it is like going to a support group every day multiple times from the comfort of your laptop or as close as your iphone.

lol I noticed this, too.
I don't consider myself carb-addicted, as it was fairly easy for me to give up carbs (aside from learning how to eat around them). But still, I find myself coming and posting here -- particularly on temptations resisted -- much as one would at a 12-step group. lol We're all dealing with one fact and one decision here: The fact that what we ate messed up our health, and the decision to do something ABOUT that! I'm back on strict induction after about a month of choosing to "maintain" and not worry about actual loss. I'm down 1.8 since Wednesday morning. I've got some challenges coming up tonight and tomorrow: A party, and a trip to the movies. For the party -- it's at a restaurant that's... not especially LC friendly. Hard to get a satisfying LC meal there. (For example, their only side is potato chips.) SO, I plan to eat a couple fat-bombs ahead of time, so I'm not as hungry, and can get by with a breadless liverwurst sandwich. (Because they have liverwurst, and I love it. I can't read the label, so theirs may have more carbs than I'd like... Which means I'm eating almost NO carbs the rest of today.) For the movie theater... I HAVE to order something at the concession stand. (I'm being paid to go, and this is a condition of the payment.) (I'm a Mystery Shopper.) But I plan on sneaking in a can of roasted nuts in my purse. (Not strictly Induction, but a heck of a lot better than that seductive-smelling popcorn.

Nice thread! I started on 1 Jan and I've been fairly strong so far (only 2 cheat meals in almost 2 months). One of my biggest struggles is staying away from SF treats like Atkins bars/shakes and SF candy. I keep some on hand in case of emergency to avoid binge eating, but I wish I could just stop the sweet cravings. I can go weeks at a time without anything sweet, but I still get sweet cravings all the time! I am also not a big fan of eggs so I often struggle to keep my meals from getting boring, especially breakfast. These forums are a huge help though! Very motivational and supportive!

Griffin: 12-step program is about right. Except if I cheat it does not mean a DWI. LOL
MOnk: I have done this WOE a few times in the past. I am a very strict dieter when it comes to this WOE. I am currently day 25 in and have lost about 27 pounds so far. I eat about 2-5 carbs a day and work out hard also. I try and burn every calorie I eat for breakfast and lunch at the gym doing the stair stepper. I usually will do between 60 and 70 minutes 4-6 times a week. That will get me about a 800 calorie burn. If I go for 70 minutes I will start knocking on 900 calories. If I eat a lot I will sometimes walk a round of golf or jump back in the gym for another 500-600 calorie burn. That is my LC story. It works great for me and I always lose weight doing it. The key will be switching to a more perm. type low carbing that I can do long term and for a life time. I am way addicted to carbs, I love them and think about donuts and breads all the time. My burden to carry I guess. I some times wish I never new what a donut tasted like but that silky buttery awesomeness is hard to forget. As is a fresh slice of sour dough. Sorry just dreaming. Oh and yes I weigh everyday, and hope for a pound a day loss. Some times it is none, sometimes I even gain but over the long haul the numbers go down, even 2-3 pounds sometimes over night. That is my story and I am sticking to it!!!lol

Well, I survived the movies! lol
Ended up eating my nuts BEFORE I went inside, but that was fine. I was so full, I wasn't hungry. Just ordered my diet soda, and had a blast. ![]() Later that same day, Hubby decided that he & the kids needed ice cream. So we went to a nearby place... They had a lot of flavors that sounded Oh, so good... I asked for a taste of the cinnamon, because I wanted to see what it was like. I put the taster-spoon in my mouth just enough to get the taste (yeah, it was just as good as I had hoped!), and then gave the rest to Hubby, "Oh, Hun, you GOTTA try this!" ~as I craftily hand the rest of it to him~ When the gal took my order... "I'll have a can of Diet Pepsi." It was all a bit much, though... particularly with all the smells. So I came home and baked an (LC) cheesecake, in my nice, new springform pan. ~chuckles~ Guess what I had for breakfast this morning? (Hey, it saw me through my workout!) It feels so good to stick to my guns! It also feels great to be LOSING again! |

Hey there,
I am back...I see some familiar posters from last year and here I am again, hopefully better informed. I am doing great this week but fell off the wagon last week after only 4 days. I had a great excuse- traveling for work-no LC food- and pigged out. Boo to me! But I also refuse to self loathe as that has sent me straight to the fridge for the last 3 years! I started again properly this morning and as if my body knew what was happening, I started peeing like clockwork! I hope I get a nice result this time next week. I have to eat more fats as I now know that I wasn't this time last year and I stalled and got hungry all the time. I ate the Atkins bars (DON'T EAT THEM!!) and probably didn't drink enough water, this time around I am drinking the water and eating the fats. I was doing OK on LC (probably OWL 1 or 2) but then we moved country, I am in Australia now. The last 6 months have been tough and I more or less stopped exercising. So now, starting exercise and starting over! I gained the 20lbs I had lost in 6 months. But I was eating like a horse and disregarded all my LC things. So big ol' kick up the butt for me! Are we posting menus or is that in another thread? I love to see what people are eating. Thanks for reading and being supportive just by being here!

Hey there,
Thanks for posting that Monk, I am happy to say that today I weighed in at 199.4lbs! Finally back under 200 which is a huge relief for me. I posted my starting weight as 200 but in reality it was prob around 203. I am hoping to drop 10lbs by April 1st but I think that might not be realistic and I will just take whatever I get. I am now drinking psyllium husks in water as nothing is moving down below...nothing! I don't have any gas which is awesome but I am feeling like I could use a good BM! Today's menu: B: 2 egg omelette w/cheese and parsley, coffee w/hwc. L: Burger patty with cabbage and cucumber and mayo/sesame oil dressing D: tuna and mayo salad Snacks: cheese and butter, coffee w/hwc and CO. |
