I have gotten so use to eating all the meat that I sometimes do not even warm up the bacon, sausage, or chicken legs, I like them cold.

EMEL: luckly for me my wife hates the skin on chicken so it leaves it all to me. But when at a party and there is chicken to eat, I will always steal the skin off a breat or two. Those low fatters never eat it anyway.

I cut the fat part off the bacon and fry that up and eat it. Leaving the pink parts for hubby or cooking. Why cannot I just buy bacon fat?! Hmm.. wondering if I could ask the butcher at the local market to just package me up some fat! lol

Way too much time on my hands!

Kemp,
I like the no-antibiotic no-hormone chicken, and the only kind in my store that isn't skinless and boneless is the whole bird. I've been buying some of the boneless skinless parts--breasts or thighs-- for convenience, but I think I'll start buying only the whole birds and cutting some up for parts. |

Emel: Yea i butcher my own chickens sometimes also. I to like the same type of chicken. They do sell the dark parts with the skin but are out sometimes. Oh I think I will have some skin right now of the left over bird in the fridge.

Over the weekend, I went to Lobsterfest with some colleagues. And they'd been to the same restaurant with each other when I wasn't with them so they started telling me this story about how, the last time they were all there together, they sat across from what they called a "heavy couple" who were eating crab legs and butter. Apparently, the couple was drinking melted butter out of the little ramekins to such an extent that their waiter brought them a plate with multiple little dishes of melted butter, which they drank.
While my colleagues were telling me this story, I looked up the nutrition info on my tracker and found that EACH serving of "100% Pure Melted Butter" at Red Lobster contains 2g carbohydrates. I didn't talk to my colleagues about this -- because I don't want to discuss my body or diet with professional colleagues -- but I hope that couple wasn't on Atkins! Because I'm sure they didn't expect a tiny dish of melted butter to be a 2g carb hit! I hope that couple just loves butter and wasn't trying to HFLC. |

I am thankful that I am not the only one who occasionally eats a spoonful of mayo! I find that sometimes when I"m dishing it up, it just seems like it'll be soooo tasty.

Butter at places like red lobster when they reduce it to clarify it they will some times sweeten it with sugar, go figure.

THIS is why I go out with people and just hang out, while refusing to eat anything. I don't trust restaurants -- even for dishes that *seem* like they should be naturally low in carbs! I don't think the 2g or carbs, or whatever, would have ruined by diet but if I wouldn't choose to consciously eat it at home I don't want to eat it just because some restaurant believes it *improves* the flavor of their food.

Even at buffalo wild wings, there plain jane chicken tendres have 2 carbs each, found out the hard way. I ate 6 of them and was out of ketosis and was like what the heck, then checked the BWW web page and bam there was the reason.
