Great finds at my local organic market!
I don't have much time during the week to go to markets, as I only have a 45 minute lunch break and the markets are usually too far and too busy!
Today, I got lucky! I managed to get the following organic foods: Mascarpone made from raw milk Some bright orange cheese (hard, like cheddar, but with a rind) also made from raw milk. It's called Rueblikaese, doesn't smell very strong, and the flavour is quite mild. ETA: I just googled it, it's made from milk that is from grassfed/hay fed cows and comes from Austria. Feta cheese Alfalfa sprouts Avocados Purslane Spinach Mache lettuce Chorizo Kassler ham Nitrite free bacon Lots of eggs From the above I made a lunchtime salad with the veggies and added some tuna in olive oil. As a dessert I had a spoonful of mascarpone with stevia. What an indulgence!!! Very yummy. May have a piece of the Rueblikaese this evening, will report back! I really love it that organic food is so popular here in Germany and that the seasonal variety is so big in veggies! The prices are not cheap cheap, but definitely affordeable and at the market it's cheaper than in the supermarket.

I actually am not much of a gardener, but my BF has suggested we should start growing some veggies...
My parents have a huge vegetable garden, and have beans, beets, carrots, various types of salad, various squashes and pumpkins, jerusalem artichokes, asparagus and cucumbers. They all taste delicious! Good luck with your garden, let me know how it goes, sending good thoughts to you for a great harvest this year! xxx |
