If I ever see another rack of pork ribs I think I'll puke. Nibbled on ribs yesterday and they were such a BAD cut-sooooo fatty, but I thought, well good. I need more fat, so I ate the portions I would normally cut off and I felt so bad! I had to take pepto to not get sick. We threw out most of the rack to the crows who were killing each other this morning to eat it. Good for them. I will never eat another rib as long as I live....

Well, because of that I am really not feeling like eating meat today. Just the thought of bacon or anything meaty is making me feel ill. So my day is going something like this:

B-Atkins strawberry protein shake
L-snacked on some pork rinds
D-salad with olive oil

I just haven't been feeling hungry lately, and I'm not going to force myself to eat like I did yesterday.

February goal:190

2/1: 196.4
2/2: 196.0
2/3: 196.8

PenPen, you are right. We do need to be grateful. And I too like that this is something we have some control over, though only on this diet (any other diet and I lose all control and just pig out).

Apparently my best friend likes my results (not just the weight loss but also obvious improvement in health and energy) and she has now converted, she doesn't do complete lc, but definitely moderate carb. She has type 1 diabetes and already notices a big difference in blood sugar levels and how much insulin she has to inject.

I did well today and really hope to see a satisfying difference tomorrow.

May all our scales see decreasing numbers and may our belts need tightening!
Night night ....

Mydear: You are doing an awesome job keep it up

PrincessMommy: Oh and Mexican food is a killer for me also. If I have to go to one I actually bring in some pork rinds or I will never make it through with that awesome, salty, tasty, crispy deliciousness sitting in that basket wrapped in soft white paper calling my name, oh I digress sorry. Way to get right back on it. At least you did not gain.

Cheshire: I hate the ups and downs also. I cannot touch bars or nuts or anything, that stalls me so fast it is not funny. But good attitude to get back to basics.

Kizz: I feel you on the meat thing. Some times I will just do a plain breast because I get tired of the fat. I am doing a cross of higher fat to protein right now with the VLC. It seems to be working so I will stick with it for now.

Every body else just keep on keeping on We can all do this.

I have the trainer again today so that is going to kick my behind, I have hit the gym hard this week and it is showing on the scale. Doing valentines day tomorrow with the wife, instead of tonight. Could not get rezzis at the french place we like for tonight. That will be a true test of my mettle when they but that basket of bread on the table. I did plan a mini cheat for tomorrow night but seeing as everything is falling off so well I may just stay focused. No promises. Wife is cheating for sure she has already said, and often at that. She is doing the low calorie, low fat thing. I would kill my self if I had to live on rabbit food and no skin on my chicken.

Good morning all

I saw 168 on the scale this morning. Technically reaching my goal, but until I stay there or surpass it - I don't really trust it!

Everyone seems to be hanging tough! As far as the fatty meat issue I go through phases- sometimes I can handle it, sometimes I cannot.

I have some bacon in the fridge that has been sitting there because I can't handle the smell of cooking it right now. But on the other hand I am really craving a pork shoulder which we usually have in the freezer, but don't right now.

We are still healing a bit from a wicked stomach bug a few weeks ago so I think that has something to do with my meat aversion now.

Keep it up everyone!

I must workout today I keep saying it, but haven't done it so I must must must today!!!

DQ – Nice drop! I love the graphs! They always give a great story. Mine looks very similar. It’s up and down all the way to goal, isn’t it?

Mydear – So glad you have a way to “escape” your apartment again. I hope your elevator gets done soon.

Kizz – I have those days, but not very often. I live on meat most days. I hope your stomach is not upset today.

Straphe – YAY!

Lileve – So glad you were a positive influence on your friend. I have seen more and more people lately I haven’t seen in a while and they all ask what I’ve been doing. Get the word out!

PM – I love the Mexican food too. I try to limit my chips and salsa, but I’m loving the idea of taking my pork rinds with me. I hadn’t actually thought of that. I eat them about every other day in the office with salsa and sour cream, why not take them to the restaurant? Great idea.

PF – It is great when we realize the issues. I love the added benefit of “knowing” your body better from eating LC and weighing daily.

Kemp – I’m so envious of you with your trainer. I am actually recovering from bronchitis and hoping to get back to my running and start weight training either this week or next week. Good luck on the Valentine’s Day temptation. My DH is actually a wing man, so he and I will both be happy to just go and have a large bowl of wings.

Labmini – congrats on the loss! Reminder: workout today

Feb goal - 165

Feb 1: 172.0
Feb 2: 171.2
Feb 6: 172.8
Feb 7: 173.8
Feb 8: 173.6
Feb 9: 171.8
Feb 10: 171.6
Feb 11: 170.6
Feb 12: 170.6
Feb13: 171.6 WTH!
Feb 14: 170.8 Happy Valentine’s Day!

I’m not sure what is causing it, but this is the 3rd morning in a row I have woken up with a headache right between the eyes. I’m hoping it is the antibiotics doing its magic on my bronchitis and sinus infection. I look forward to losing the cough and now the headache too!

I’m happy that I am down again today. I just hope it keeps going the right direction for the second half of this month so I can get to that goal!

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope everyone has a lovely day

Yesterday was good except I did eat cheese and sour cream. I am now convinced they stall my weightloss. I also drank a large diet coke for lunch as a treat, but I am thinking that probably hurt the downward trend. Today I jumped on the scale and it read higher than yesterday, which is frustrating, but still is creeping closer to the 40's and away from the 50s. So I'll take it!

B - protein shake (4 carbs)
L - quarter chicken leg (didn't forget it at home today. yippeee)
D - large ceasar salad. The family is having pizza tonight, so when I pick up the pizza I'll grab a salad. I'll also probably nibble on the pepperonis and cheese as my Vday treat.

February Goal: 144! <---changed to something more realistic

2/1 - 152
2/2 - 150
2/3 - 160
2/4 - 155
2/5 - 154.6
2/6 - 153.2

2/11- 152
2/12 -151.2
2/13 - 146.4

And thanks for sharing your graph DQ. I too track my weight in excel. It is the first thing I do when I get to work - enter in the morning's weight and then stare at the graph for 5 minutes excited to see it falling downward.

Yes lori, the graph is all up and down. That's how it works for me.

We may go to a mexican restaurant tonight ...taking rinds is a great idea..i usually just ask for my own little bowl of salsa and eat a little of it with a fork!! Haha!! Mexican IS challenging, that is true. Cerviche works, guac and sour cream ....yeah, chimichanga or burrito innards, no rice no beans!!!! OK, maybe the german place??? Or...wings!!! Yeah, that's the ticket!!!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone! Hope all are still doing well and are sticking to plan.

I do have a question: I started exercising on Sunday and since then haven't dropped any weight, before I was losing 1 - 2 pounds a week. Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm not going to quit exercising because I know my body needs diet and exercise. I was just curious.

Monica - Yes, I have experienced this. I'm sure everyone's body will respond differently, but I took my exercise down to 30 minuntes a day 3-4 days a week. I found this was optimal for my weight loss, which is my current priority. I do plan to increase that to 6-7 days a week when I get very close to goal.

As a side note, I hav noticed the weight loss slow since not working out 3-4 days a week for the last 2 weeks, because I have been sick.

Hubby is my greatest fan and supporter! He should be, we both gained a bunch of weight after we got married. He gained apx 25 and I gained a little over 30 (in less than 3 years! YIKES)

OT, but even though I got on the scale this morning and I'm about the same weight, I just "feel" skinnier today. Anybody else ever do this?

Yes, and I LOVE these days. Well, except for the fact that it makes me want to go shopping and try on TONS of cute clothes.

Agree with PP, I actually feel skinnier today and think my legs look thinner than last week. Even though my weight is fluctuating like crazy. On a whim I grabbed a pair of black slacks I used to wear to work to try them on. They went on except I couldn't button them (about a 5 inch gap!) but I thought it was progress to even put them on...

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Kemp-I know it's been said but thanks for the great idea about bringing Pork Rinds to the Mexican restaurant! Great idea....otherwise I know I would be too tempted!

Roxysmum-I've been wanting to know this too! Thanks for asking

Mafiamom-I'm pushing 40 so I can relate to that slower metabolism! Ten years ago, the weight just melted off me when I was on induction....now I fight and struggle for every pound!

lorias-I have had that sort of headache too since yesterday-we call it "the little man pushing behind your eye" headache...lol Two Tylenol kills it for me
PS
My stomach DOES feel better, thanks It was just all the fat from the ribs, I'm sure I wasn't actually sick- Thank God for Pepto!

Cheshire-Hang in there, I know all about those ups and downs! And nuts are def. a staller for me as well

Yesterday I kind of just snacked around all day, thought I would gain for sure when I sat down to American Idol with the Breyers Choc. low carb ice-cream.

S-celery with cream cheese
S-Pork rinds
S-Cheese rolled in sliced ham
S-breyers choc. ice-cream

I'm almost feeling like I might be ready to eat some meat again after my rib incident. We have grilled porterhouse steak on the menu for dinner tonight. I'm making cheesecake muffins with strawberry(sugar-free) preserves on top for a special V-day treat

Hope everyone stays on track and has a great day!

What brand of pork rinds is preferred? I grabbed a bag a few weeks ago at the gas station and was completely disgusted by how it tasted. They were rock hard and it felt like my teeth were going to chip. I'm thinking the bag was stale...

Kizz, I am now obsessed with adding a siggy!

I don't know if you guys have a Kroger where you are, but I just get mine from there. They are fresh, and more of the light crispy pieces. I know which ones you mean, the hard curly I hate those also. My baby boy who just turned one eats these with me, so we def, have to go for the softer ones. I bet those ones you got from the gas station were stale as well, sometimes gas stations keep their products out indef. yuck.

Maybe try the BBQ flavored ones, I also like the spicy ones. They are good to dip in all kinds of things, like salsa, sour cream, cheese dip, or my personal favorite, B.L.T. dip. (I take mayo, sour cream, bacon bits, garlic salt and roma tomatoes and mix-tastes just like a BLT!) Just play around and see what you like, you may just be one of those people who don't like the taste/texture of pork rinds at all.

I know I have to make my mind go blank and make myself forget I am eating fried pig skin. Sometimes that is hard to do though, especially when I get a piece that has a blue tattoo on it, from the farmer marking his animals ....ugh!

Harmsway-
The cheesecake muffin recipe is from this website, just do a search in the recipe area I think you'll love them! My baby eats them too!
