WOE: whatever works
Happy Friday Eve!

Scale this morning was none too kind. Back up 1.5lb. I attribute the gain to excess sodium (taco salad with spicy pork rinds last night) and TOM should arrive any day now. I'm not worried...it is what it is.

We're supposed to be getting snow starting this afternoon, changing over to freezing rain by morning. I'm hoping that we get just enough snow that the gym won't be busy tonight, but not so much snow that they close....

Today:
B - nothing...strangely not hungry
L - maybe another taco salad....nothing sounds good right now
S - protein shake before gym
D - cobb salad
coffee, lemon water & 1 green tea

February goal: 203.4 (I also think this is too ambitious)
2/1 - 210.8
2/2 - ?
2/3 - ?
2/4 - 210.8
2/5 - 212.4 gym
2/6 - 212.4
2/7 - 212.2 gym
2/8 - 210
2/9 - ?
2/10 - 214.2
2/11 - 211
2/12 - 210.8 gym
2/13 - 212.2 WTH (up, down, up, down)
2/14 - 210.8 gym
2/15 - 210
2/16 - 210
2/17 - 209.4 Yay! On the way back down again!!!!
2/18 - 208.8 (prob a lil dehydrated from drinking last night)
2/19 - 213 (holy cow!!!) gym
2/20 - 210.8
2/21 - 212.2 gym

I hate TOM! haha. It really screws with everything. I am convinced it is partially to blame for my eating chocolate cake sunday night.

Question - is it ok I have one glass of wine tonight? If so, which has less carbs; a pinot noir or cab? I am doing a girls dinner with some friends. I've already read and re-read the restaurant's menu and will be ordering the caesar salad with out croutons, but I'd like to indulge in 1 glass. that won't destroy my hard work, right?

Roxy, in general no it will not. 1 glass of red wine is under 4 carbs per glass, may even be less. However be careful as it is a slippery slope. I have had one wine turn into 5 real quick and then taco bell so just be careful. I think either wine will be fine as far as flavor and color.

This made me smile....I can SO relate (except it would be captain & cokes turning into a very large pizza)

Yeah, it is beyond frustrating! I actually wrote a whole segment to you...lol Was just saying before it got annoyingly erased into computer neverland, that you are doing really great and are an inspiration to a lot of people. I can tell by your numbers that you are very strict and you are kind of doing the Meat and eggs fast by keeping your carbs between 2-5 like you said. No wonder your weight is just melting off. I started the meat and egg fast Tuesday and have lost a steady pound a day since then. All I eat is meat and eggs, just like it sounds. NO sugar free treats or sweetners, no veggies even. It's only meant for short term (3-5 days) so today is my last day. I can't wait to have my HWC mousse that Shelly turned me onto. And salad sounds pretty good as well. But I think I will use this fast every now and again when I get a mini-stall. It kicks things forward for sure! Anyway, congrats to you on your success! You are doing great

So my Dad is type 2 diabetic and he had a crack in his foot for like ever that just never got better and has been hospitalized a few times for it. He went back in yesterday and they had to give him a blood transfusion and are taking his leg I will be at the hospital all day with him and my family so it's going to be hard to take my deviled eggs and pork chops, but I'm going to give it hell trying. My dads declining health just goes to show me how awful sugar is, and how ultimately, it can/will kill you. It happens so slowly and with so many other names that most do not recognize it as the culprit. My DH says sugar is healthy and occurs naturally in nature, but then, so does ethonal, and you can put it in your car, burn your house down, or get yourself drunk on it. Poison is poison I guess. I only wish he were more supportive, but he is not. He says he hates all my hippie crapp and to quit trying to feed the baby my diet hippie food. (Which I think grilled salmon is hardly harmful to him) Anyway, I am rambling. Plz just keep my father in your thoughts/prayers today. I don't want my dad to die, he's only 65

Yesterdays menu on meat and egg fast:

Basically I just ate lots of deviled eggs
B: Deviled eggs (4)
L: Salmon
D: eggs

kizz and kemp -- great going! kizz sorry about your dad.... when you are slender, he'll realize that he was wrong. Take care of him!

Roxysmum - everyone reacts differently to alcohol. Alcohol is the ONE THING that I allow myself to have - otherwise, i eat extremely low carb and low calorie. It helps me stay strict with everything else, knowing that i can have that one thing. But that's just me. I have done Atkins before with no alcohol (and it wasn't nearly as much fun, although the weight came off a little faster).

Hugs Kizz. We are here if you need to talk. Also I like the idea of doing a meat/egg fast on the weekends. Saturday and Sunday is when I just foul up something fierce. Or rather not foul up, but am just not as diligent with my eating habits. I am going to try that Friday-Sunday to see how it works out. For your deviled eggs, do you still add mayo/mustard?

Very true about 1 wine turning into 12. haha Ohhhh what I wouldn't give to be back in my 20's for an evening of drinks, fast food and no weight gain

I've definitely been struggling this week. Not sure why, especially after I had such a good week last week. On plan so far today. I think I've just been too busy and letting myself get too hungry by the evening, and then my good choice making doesn't go so well. Gonna try and be better!

Kizz, so sorry to hear about your Dad! My Dad is about the same age and also has diabetes. It has really been eye opening for me to see how much he struggles with it. He has a lot of issues with his feet and I pray he can keep them healthy. I will pray that your Dad's surgery goes well and I hope his recovery is not too painful! Stay strong through this! We are here for you!!

I continue to struggle with hunger. I had an Atkins tex mex scramble for breakfast along with my coffee with HWC. For lunch I had an Atkins crustless chicken pot pie. A few hours later I had an Atkins shake because i was starving. For dinner I had a salad with pulled pork, cheese, salsa and guacamole. I am also snacking on some SF gummy bears right now which I know I will regret later! I know I shouldn't use so much prepared food, but my husband is in Afghanistan, I work full time with an hour commute each way and I have two children. So, my time is a bit stretched at the moment!!! I typically do more cooking on the weekends but my 6 year old was really sick most of the weekend so I never got around to it. I am hoping to do better planning and cooking this weekend and maybe I will see some movement on the scale next week! I may have to try the meat/egg fast this weekend too! I need some motivation since I have only dropped a few pounds all month! I do 3 miles on the treadmill at 6% incline every day so I had hoped the weight would come off a little faster. I initially assumed my results would be comparable to my previous success over 10 years ago with this WOE.......getting older sucks! :-)

Congrats to everyone who continues to stay on plan and lose weight! Hope everyone had a great day!

February goal: 190 (at this point, it is clear this was way too ambitious!)

Thank you! Yes, I do use mayo and mustard for the deviled eggs, just make sure you use Hellman's because it had o carbs The meat and egg fast is great for short term getting "unstuck" I was getting very frustrated with the scale staying stuck so this really helped me. The weekend idea sounds great if you can be that disciplined, don't know if I can. Let me know how it goes, ok?

Thanks to everyone for your support with my dad. He is having the surgery tomorrow afternoon, so I will be at the hospital another day eating bacon and pork chops that I brought in a little plastic baggie...lol Whatever works, right?

Everyone keep up the good work, we only have about a week til February is over and we can make a new goal for March! Spring is just around the corner

Good morning everyone.

Kizz- thinking of you and your family

Ok so I have tried to stay positive, but its my turn to be frustrated. I saw 169 and a flash of 169.5 again this morning. How could I be on plan and going up?!

I have a lot going on right now. I am a few days away from stopping pumping for the LO, which means my BC will change. Other news is I got a new job. I start on March 18th and after 9 months of being home with my daughter we are looking for daycare.

I went shopping yesterday and was seriously disappointed at the size I still am. So I decided I am not going to buy anything until the weekend before I start giving me 3 weeks to drop some weight and workout in order to change my shape a bit.

I am going to clean up my eating...protein, greens, fats. Go easy on the dairy and maybe even lose the one stevia I have been using. Then if nothing I will move onto a meat and egg fast. I need to watch my regularity though cause things have slowed down for sure...sorry for the rant just feeling it today

Good luck to everyone

Well Kemp you were right....wine is a slippery slope. Before I got to the restaurant my friend texted saying she ordered a bottle and was waiting for everyone to arrive. I ended up having about 3 glasses of red wine. That's a lot considering I hadn't had a glass of wine (or alcohol) in well over 1.5 years. As for carb counting I didn't feel bad because I didn't go over 20 carbs for the day.

Following kizz, I am starting a meat/egg fast for the weekend. I want to break through this odd stall that is going on and stay in the 140's every time I weigh in.

B - scrambled eggs
L - scrambled eggs
D - TBD. though I had planned on making an enchilada bake recipe from Genaw's website for the family

February Goal: 144! <---changed to something more realistic

2/1 - 152
2/2 - 150
2/3 - 160
2/4 - 155
2/5 - 154.6
2/6 - 153.2
2/7 - 153
2/8 - 152
2/9 - 148
2/11- 152
2/12 -151.2
2/13 - 146.4
2/14 - 150.2
2/15 - 146.6
2/16 - 149.2
2/18 - 153
2/19 - 151.2
2/20 - 152
2/21 - 149
2/22 - 147.4

Feb 20 248 same weight as yesterday, had to happen some time.
Feb 21 247 (3 pounds from new goal, will be close but going to keep at it)

Avy:I cannot wait till onderland, only a slight 48 pounds away!!! Way to go on your losses

Kizz:Thanks for the support and vote of confidence. The meat and egg fast does work for sure and that is basically my plan. The only problem is I have no where to go from there if I stall. I can only lower calories and add to my workouts. I hope you dad does great today you and him are in my prayers.

Julie: Sounds like you are super busy and that makes t hard to prep. My fav. snack is bacon. I will cook 1-2 pounds and just leave it in a zip lock in the fridge. I cook it extra crispy so it is tasty even cold. I also vary my exercise as far as intensity when I stall and that helps get through stalls and kick start losses again. Good luck.

Cheshire: I feel your pain and you have heard it before 1 day of gain is small compared to the overall goal of a downward trend.....I hate it also when people tell me that but it is true. It will keep coming off just stay focused you are doing great.

Lambini: I understand regularity that is for sure. I take a supplment of psyllium husk 3 times a day, I find one that is zero carb and they work great. Especially when I am doing only meat and eggs, they are a God send.

Princessmommy: Way to go on staying focused even when not losing daily, but you are so close to goal that must be nice, When I am still 50 pounds away seeing you near or at your goal is good to see for me.

Well long post today. Just wanted to catch up with everybody today. I am loving life today I am making the switch from super big clothes to my medium clothes. Playing golf around lunch time with the brother then going to hit the gym to try and keep the momentum going and the weight going down.

DairyQ-Thanks! It's my significant other who is not being supportive, not my dad, maybe I confused everyone talking about them in the same paragraph, I do tend to shift gears a lot

Julie-Thanks for sharing about your father, it must be tough to have your DH in another country and raising two little ones. Sorry you are struggling with hunger. Those Atkins meals don't do much for me really. WAY too small and not enough meat. I'd rather fill up on a big split chicken breast, or a steak then nibble like a starved bunny on frozen dinners. But like you said, it's a time issue with the little ones and your hubby away. Too bad you don't live closer, I would love to cook up some LC meals for more then one person. My guy cooks his own meals and I cook mine, because he eats really really bad (12 pack of mt dew DAILY and crap food like honey buns captain crunch cereal and pizza) but is skinny as a rail. Sigh. Well hang in there Julie! It will get easier

Cheshire girl- Hugs back!!!

LabMini- I know what you mean about shopping. It can be discouraging to say in the least. Most of the time I leave with nothing and in a very bad mood. Why bother buying anything, if it's not what I really want. All the cute stuff is in super small sizes. I think cleaning up your eating sounds like a great idea. I was so surprised that cheeses and sugar free candy were slowing down my weight loss and making me yo-yo. I know exactly what you mean when you say "I would understand if I had eaten badly but truly have not" Thats when I get upset to. No fair, darn it!!!

Roxysmum: Good luck on your weekend meat and eggs fast! I actually love it! Obviously I miss cheese and sweet sf treats, but it's so worth it when I see the scale actually MOVE!!! You know I have been struggling with that all month, a lot of us have, so this was my miracle, and now it seems I will actually meet my goal (crosses fingers)

Everyone take care and have a great Friday, I am off to the hospital to support my poor dad. I can't imagine losing a limb, I feel so bad for him. This is why I am not going to follow in his footsteps and develop type 2 diabetes. For him it's too late and as he lays there in that bed choking back tears talking about things in the past he regrets, scared of going under with his heart condition (developed congenitive heart failure as a by product of the diabetes) I just worry for him, and pray he will just lose that leg, because thats enough really, isn't it?

Sorry to ramble on about this again, it's just heavy on my mind, guys. Thanks for being here, I really am glad I found this website and am getting to know all of you. It is a great source of comfort and support for me since the DH is such an ass...lol

Okay, so I am down another pound today. I love my Meat and Eggs fast! I just really needed to simplify my diet. Too many hidden carbs and calories in all the "fun" foods we brag about eating. Now my menus are pretty simple:

B: 3 deviled eggs (with mayo and mustard)
L: 5 slices of bacon
D: two think pork chops two small round steaks
S: scrambled egg
lots of crystal lite drops or Mio drops in my water

Feb. goal 190

2/3: 196.8
