Sugar Alcohol
I have been on this plan for a month and very happy with results. The only problem is that I seem to be sensitive to the sugar alcohol, not that we're supposed to have them in induction. I would take an Atkins bar for breakfast and one for lunch because it's quick to grab for work and was losing pretty consistently but after week three started to get very nauseas. This lasted for four days and am finally feeling better. Has anyone experienced this? If so, were you able to have some in smaller doses eventually? Thanks for any input in advance!

I had a similar reaction. I was eating those bars for a while and then all of a sudden they started messing up my stomach. I think though I have developed an allergy to the soy proteins in those bars. I get the same stomach issues when I eat anything with soy. Just a thought.

Watch those bars; I'd get rid of them until you are closer to your goal weight! Most people stall with their weight loss due to them!

I also can't handle them.
To be successful on this WOE you need to learn to eat real food. If you have a busy life, I suggest that you cook on Saturday or Sunday for the week. I usually cook a ham, a pork shoulder or pot roast. I then heat them up for breakfast and lunch during the week. I buy pre cut salad so it is quick. With meat and salad you are set for the week. |

I do fine with erythritol, as it is probably the most inert of the sugar alcohols. Sorbitol and zylitol are generally okay as well. But the biggest culprit of digestion discomfort is maltitol. Maltitol is a sugar alcohol that many are sensitive to. It also has a MUCH higher glycemic index than most other artificial sweeteners. And the worst part is that most, if not all, Atkins bars contain maltitol
