Both are on Linda Sue's Low Carb (Welcome to Genaw.com) under the ground beef section. If you are going to get recipes from there look for the items with the * next to them - that means they are induction friendly. Anyway, I had laid out 2 pounds of hamburger on Sunday so I needed to do something. It's actually called - Coney Island Chili Rice (rice is cauliflower) I added hot dogs - Per Serving: 270 Calories; 21g Fat; 17g Protein; 5g Carbohydrate; 1g Dietary Fiber; 4g Net Carbs, and I actually got the name of the other one right Mexican Spinach & Hamburger Casserole - 315 Calories; 25g Fat; 17g Protein; 6g Carbohydrate; 2g Dietary Fiber; 4g Net Carbs

They are yummy and can be frozen so I froze half of each for a later date - since I'm the only one eating them

I have noticed that since I started eating low carb my calories automatically stay low (around 1400) I strictly choose food choices based on carbs - I guess low calorie is just an added bonus? I guess that's what happens when you cut out flour/sugar.

I also made Linda Sue's No Bake Jello Cheesecake - it was YUMMY!

NO-BAKE JELLO CHEESECAKE
1 small box sugar free Jello, any flavor
1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup heavy cream
16 ounces cream cheese, softened

In a small bowl, dissolve the Jello in the boiling water, stirring for 2-3 minutes. Chill until no longer warm. In a small bowl, whip the cream until stiff. In a medium bowl, using the same beaters used for the cream, beat the cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually add tiny bits of the still liquid Jello to the cream cheese, beating well after each addition. If you add the liquid too quickly, you'll end up with a curdled mess. Gently fold in the whipped cream. Spread the mixture in a 10-inch glass pie plate; chill till set, several hours.

Makes 8 servings
Do not freeze

Per Serving: 304 Calories; 31g Fat; 6g Protein; 3g Carbohydrate; 0g Dietary Fiber; 3g Net Carbs

Hope everyone is doing well, so far so good for me breakfast consisted of coffee with 2 tbsp hwc and 3 packets of splenda, 2 scrambled eggs, 2 and a half slices of bacon I have a large bottle of water sitting here beside me so I can drink it, the water is the hardest part for me. I have a bad knee I had arthroscopic surgery back last February and it still isn't any better I was wondering what types of exercises you all are doing. DarkDeb I can relate to your situation I too am 56 years old and was laid off from my job back in June 2010 when AT&T in Birmingham, Ala laid off all of its Yellow Page dept, I have been searching for another job but everything around here is going out of business, I have gained all this weight since being laid off, hope things change soon, good luck with your job interview.

Newbie here

Did this once before and lost about 25 lbs. Now have to get serious again as a pound here and there keeps creeping up. I'm pulling out the "ole" book on Atkins and refreshing myself on the intro program. Good luck everything with your programs.!

So I started induction on Jan 1st, and I weighted myself on Jan 10th and I had lost 12lbs (I know most of it is water). I weighted myself again this morning 5 days later and I have not lost anything. Do you think I have stalled and if yes what should I do? I been eating pretty healthy

B- atkins shake
S- Atkins bar
L- a Talapia fillet with 5 thin sliced cucumbers
D- have not had it yet but I have more Talapia cooked or this chicken salad

Hi there
I hope you will find a new job soon. Having a bad knee is a problem when you want to exercise. However, you still have some options to choose from. You can do biking, swimming, water aerobics, walking, elliptical, or mainly upper body work-outs such as weight-lifting, working out with bungee cords, and such.
I hope this helped.

Greetings everyone!! Hope your day was great! I was running late this morning so I had a protein shake for breakfast, chicken wings for lunch and I plan to repeat those for dinner. Stay encouraged. I almost went to the vending machine at work but realized the Oreos just weren't worth it!

******* sounds like a bad dream. Low carb and low fat? I would get hungry in 5 minutes.

summer_tyme - what are pork cracklins?
@jonika...pork cracklins are like pork rinds but they are smaller strips of skin and fat. They are fried really hard and seasoned with red pepper to give a little kick. I like them better than rinds because they take much longer to eat and satisfy you when you need a crunch.

pakbabydoll - I do not have enough knowledge to know if you are stalled so I am of no help. To me it looks like you aren't eating enough but I definitely don't know. Post your question on the main board. Some seasoned lowcarbers should be able to help.

muffin - Way to pass on the vending machine. I know how hard that can be when you want a snack!

summertyme - Great job passing on the buffet badness - you did an excellent job in a tough situation . It is so great that you were able to stick to your plan with all that temptation! You will do great for the rest of your time at the conference, I just know it!

Hope everyone else is sticking to plan! Who haven't we heard from in a while???? We may need to reachout to our fellow buddies!

I hope everyone has an EXCELLENT Wednesday!

Menu:
B: Sausage Quiche
L: Coney Pie
D: Pork carnita's
S: Salami w/cheese

Good Morning to all the LC Diva's TOM is definately here so i feel like blahhh again this morning. summertyme - I'm glad that you stayed on track, I can imagine how tempting it could be at a buffet, just try to think about the long run and stay on track. pakbabydoll - It does seem like you are not eating enough. As far as getting enough Fats and Protein in your system. For Ketosis to work at its maximum capacity you definitely have to enough protein and fats in your system. Its not enough just to go low carb cause sometimes you can be low carb and yet maintain. You want to be low carb and burn fat also. So if I was you I would up my protein and fat. You need to try to get protein from a meat product at every meal. Its very easy for a Low-Carb diet to turn in to a low-calorie mode and vice versa for a low-calorie diet to turn into low-carb mode. If you are eating low-carb, but yet also not getting enough calories (Which for us comes from fat and protein), your low-carb diet will act like a low-calorie diet which has many stalls. You want to consume just enough protein in order for your diet to stay low-carb and consume enough calories to prevent it from flipping in to low-calorie mode.

B: 4 Tennessee Pride sausage links and deviled eggs, Strawberry protein shake with blueberries thrown in.
S: cheese and Johnsonville Deli bites, raspberries
L: tuna salad with cucumbers and ranch dressing
S: Johnsoville deli bites,
D: hamburger paties, cuccumber salad with sauted zucchini.
S: Strawberry protein shake with blueberries thrown in.

Ok with TOM I still have no craving for chocolate, sugar or carbs but I do have the usual appetite increase which always accompany my first 3 miserable days. Hense why I had to add in a snack.

Hi ladies! I'm Melissa, 31 from Ohio. I have been looking at pics and posts for a week, all dated years ago. I'm glad this is still an active sight. I am a momof four, ages 2, 2, 4, and 7. I am a stay at home mom now after working in the Peds ER for years. I just started this diet 11 days ago. I don't follow any diet, just eating meat and veggies and trying to watch carbs. No sugar, flour, or processed foods allowed. I started at 212 and weigh 200 today. It has been 7 years since I have seen the 100s! Looking forward to having help and support.

Hi All - I've been somewhat off track the past few days. My excuse is that I've had a killer head cold which rendered me miserable and unable to make wise choises (excuses, excuses, I know).

I am back on track now and want to be held accountable for my actions. It gives me so much motivation to know that you are all in the same boat and fighting the same battles every day.

Control the food, don't let the food control you!

Hi Newbies!

Welcome everyone! This is the best place for you to be right now!
2f2f.... 1 more day that I've held the oreos at bay! Thanks for noticing! I have been craving chocolate because mother nature is here so that was a huge deal
I am happy I can rush home and get some encouragement from you all.

Welcome newcomers!

@summer_tyme - thanks for your explanation Now I know what they are (pork)

I had a major failure today! Oh boy! My hubby bought me my favorite ice cream: Hagen- Daazs Caramel Cone ice cream yesterday. Did I indulge after 7 today! I explained to him that my will power is very weak regarding my favorite sweets and that he cannot, under any circumstances, buy me any more of it because if it's in the house, I WILL eat it I told him that reaching my goal weight would make me happy, not ice cream.

this morning, I was down to 125.2. I am expecting a weight gain tomorrow of course...uuaaa!
I tried to compensate by hoping on a bike. I did 60 minutes. 16.8 miles, and burned 620 calories (according to the machine's computer. I don't know if it's accurate)...

My menu today:
coffee w/coconut milk + H&H
almond flour cookies
L: turkey stir-fry with green beans and bacon
D: ICE CREAM and decaf coffee with low-carb cookies. - oh just terrible.

Tomorrow:
B: coffee
L: chicken thighs with green beans+bacon,
kale soup
D: same as lunch , decaf coffee

Welcome to those just joining us!!

So today I gained half a pound back (boo. But figured it. I had a chocolate bar because I had a meltdown yesterday due to a situation my school put me in and went into a dark place)... However... A skirt I have not been able to wear for months to almost a year was suddenly loose on me today, so I may not be losing weight, but I am apparently losing inches

HELP!! I'm stalling. I've been at the same weight for 3 days in a row. Literally, not a tenth of a pound change in either direction. I've been back on tract since the weekend. It's the end of that time of the month, maybe that's why? I have also be indulging my sweet tooth at night with the atkins advantage peanut butter cups. They say that net carbs are 2... but there are lots of sugar alcohols in them to make it that way. Thoughts on maybe this being the cause??

That being said, I'm hoping to start posting what I ate over the day, and i'm going to try to start skipping the processed treats at night!

Yesterday:
B: coffee with heavy cream, eggs scambled with hot sauce and a laughing cow cheese mixed in.
L: ground beef with homemade taco seasoning, a little cheese and tomato
S:string cheese, pepperoni
D: salad with chicken, tomatoes, bacon, and a homemade vinaigrette.
S: atkins peanut butter cups.

Im still trucking along. Having a busy week on the go with the baby but sticking to plan. It took me 4 long days to get into ketosis this time. The scale just budged this morning. I will never go off plan (THAT BADLY) again as my mexican fiesta weekend omg I paid for it

jmarch7 - Don't worry just keep plugging along and eating on the induction plan and you will see a loss. I don't think Dr. Atkins thinks that 3 days is a stall - I thought it was more like 30, does anyone remember from the book?

Good luck today everyone and Happy Thursday!

I know some people have stalled with the atkins PB cups (but I love them).

Even with the weight stall, I found today that my clothes fit better, have you checked measurements?

ok, i am SO new to all of this. I don't understand most of the lingo, or ketosis. BUT, I need an explanation about my weight! I went from 210 to 199. I was so excited to see the 100's again! I weighed myself first thing yesterday morning when i saw 199. I wanted to see that number again, so got on the scale at 4pm and it said 205! My whole night was ruined! I never cheated! How is this possible? So I tried to get some sleep and figured it would be back down this morning. Nope. Can someone explain how this could happen????

Hi everyone! So excited to join you all. My name is Allie, I'm 40 and starting Induction again as soon as I get myself to the store to stock up on what I need.

I have done Atkins before and had great luck. Due to some issues in the past few years I have been emotionally eating and packing lots of extra pounds on. My emotional issues are so much better but now I have to ditch the bad habits that are still here. I love the low carb WOE and am excited to lose some serious pounds!

Looking forward to getting to know you all and reading all the previous posts.

You gain water weight during the day...I, for one, gain as much as 6 lbs a day, which all comes off by the next day and usually some more! I also fall victim to weighing during the day, but the best time to weigh is in the morning, after you have gone to the restroom, and I do so with as little clothes on as possible. This will be the most accurate weight for the day. Dont worry about it, I am sure you will see close to 199 (or maybe lower!) tomorrow

ETA: I just noticed you said it wasnt down in the next morning...maybe too much salt, not enough water, battery needs replaced on scale, a workout? There are lots of factors, but a 6lb gain in one day doesnt sound right, especially since you didnt cheat, so hang in there, it should go back down. Drink you water, maybe you can flush it out!

Ok. So I am back on track I think, mentally. I never gave up despite the scale setback. The scale said 201 today, so that's Better than 205. Last night I did a kettlebell class, today I did 3 miles on treadmill. I'm just not sure about the foods.
B: Atkins shake and coffee
L: burger with cheese and avocado
D: grilled chicken and shrimp with zucchini

I have tracked my eating with the my plate app, and I am always around 1000 calories. Is this too low?

Completely new newbie needs induction help

Hi, would you mind if I joined your group. I am a completely new newbie never having done Atkins before. I have the Atkins book but I am a little concerned about consuming such large amounts of calories. Is it best to follow the book to the letter or do I need to watch my calorie intake also? I need some help in knowing how to start the Atkins Induction please. I have ME (CFIDS/CFS) so I am very sedentary. I have been advised by my ME Doctor that I need to cut all carbs out of my diet as I have developed a rather nasty intolerance to sugar and grains. I need the support of a group like this as well as help to know what works and what doesn't. I am currently 140lbs but would like to get back down to 100lbs as I have a wardrobe full of clothes that no longer fit me. HELP!!!

well diva's I am on my way, tomorrow is day one of induction. I am glad to be getting started. I saw an advertising for Atkins frozen meals, has anyone tried that? I just wonder what the salt content is. any divas way I will be back tomorrow. oh yeah I was supposed to have started on 1/18/13 but I had oral surgery on that day so I had to move it a head a few days.
