Well, I'm down 4 lbs since Monday. I'm sure it's all water weight, but I'll take it.
I found this low carb chocolate at Trader Joe's that's not so bad. I've had one square the past few nights and it seems to help calm my cravings. I know that I should just cut it out entirely, but a life without chocolate scares me!! I know it's not entirely induction friendly, but does anyone have any good low-carb baking recipes? In the past, everything I've tried has been pretty awful. Finally, what's everyone's favorite oopsie roll recipe? I've never made them and would love to try! |

I'm on day 4 of induction.
The wife and I had our 2nd child just over a month ago, so neither of us are getting enough sleep. Couple that with long work hours and induction and it makes it difficult. I've started getting headaches today, which is normal for me once I start ketosis. Hopefully will go away in a couple of days. |

Mrwizard, I find sometimes with the headaches that drinking broth helps, sometimes its a salt imbalance, made more prominent by the reduced sleep.
Congrats on your new addition to the family!! |

@kdarnelld - CONGRATS! keep it up
@ jmarch07 - I am with you. I can't imagine not having any chocolate. Right now, I am hooked on Dove's sugar free chocolates. Those that are individually packed. They are made with maltinol which doesn't kick me out of ketosis. But I still have to keep my intake low...or I fall off the wagon. Kdarnelld wrote about taking Chromium and L-Glutamine to kill cravings. I am going to try them out...maybe you should too. I haven't weighted myself yet. I am scared. My today's menu: Coffee , finishing my almond cookies will have to cook turkey with cauliflower, maybe even green beans + bacon Don't know what's for dinner. Maybe nothing. I didn't feel like eating anything last night. @starryeyed - your today's menu sounds delish. Keep up the good work ladies!

I have failed for today. They brought in cupcakes, really bad stressful day (no money to pay bills and get food till tuesday... sigh) it was one of my law partners birthday, and they had chocolate mint cupcakes. So I was bad, I had one, but will not let it derail me permanently. The rest of the day will still be low carb, and the rest of the week as well...
Sigh... no willpower yet |

@ eterprincess - one cup cake will not kill your ketosis, it's okay to slip. Just don't do it again tomorrow!
Be strong and don't cave in.I am struggling. It's almost 8pm and all I can think about is the sweet Milka chocolate with strawberry yogurt filling that's in the fridge. I went to Zumba at 6 and afterwards, the cravings kicked in full time. I tried to compensate with real food and some maltinol chocolates...It's not the best, but at least, I stayed off real sugar. I feel a bit freaked out that I am gaining weight...I will have to hop on the scale tomorrow morning...I need to fix it if I am doing any damage..I cooked a very good meal today: cubed turkey with vegetables (stir-fry) and mashed cauliflower. I will post a picture later. It fits all my criteria: anti-candida, alkaline, atkins. Last edited by Jonika; 01-10-2013 at 04:52 PM.. |

@skinnurse - if you come up with some idea, pls post it.
It's 11pm and I am dead tired. I am proud of myself because I didn't cave in! I didn't eat any real sugar. Yipee! and I am in a pink ketosis. @eterprincess - how do you make zucchini noodles? Here is my dinner. It's was pretty good. Filled me up for hours: ![]() |

For the zucchini noodles I took 2 zucchini and a potatoe peeler. Cut the ends where the blossom was off to give a straight base, then used the potatoe peeler to cut thin strips off until I reached the seeds. Then sautéed them in a skillet with butter until soft. Not sure if they were DH's fav, but he had three servings. Tried cabbage before, I love it, he hates cabbage, and got tired of shirataki and felt needed more veggies in the food. It had a light flavor with the Alfredo sauce

Hi all
For today B: Deviled eggs L: Meatloaf Balls with Cabbage and Bacon S: Haven't needed a snack as of yet D: The rest of the Meatloaf Balls and Cabbage So far I haven't had any craving for sugar or carbs where as normally by now I would have eaten Birthday Cake(my favorite) and King Size Chucky Bars which is usually my evening chocolate fix. I would buy them 10 for $10 at Walgreens to stock up for 10 days. But so far since I'm back on the L-Glutamine and Chromium nothing, no craving no nothing. My Regiment is 2000 mg upon rising in the morning, eat breakfast, take 200 mg of chromium. 2000 mg of L-Glutamine at 10 - 10:30am. Eat lunch around 12 - 1 pm take 200 mg of chromium. Take 2000 mg of L-Glutamine between 3 - 4pm. Eat Dinner around 5 - 6pm take 200mg of Chromium. So far with this regiment I haven't needed a snack and no sugar or chocolate cravings. The real test is when TOM comes at that time of the month my chocolate craving is through the roof. I mean I literally will buy a Double chocolate Birthday cake and by the time TOM 6- 7 days is gone the Cake is gone. Then comes the guilt ![]() |

Getting the Sugar and Carb withdrawl headache, usually 1 /1/2 teaspoons of salt in 8oz of water gets rid of it almost instantly. Also a handful of blueberries or raspberries but the headache is a good sign that you are on the right track and entering into "Carb Crash"

Today is day 5 for me. Test strips have been solidly positive the last couple of days. Headaches have subsided and should be smooth sailing from now on.
Have a family party tomorrow so that will be my first true test. I'm planning on bringing some food with me should there not be anything that I can have. Weekends are always my de-stress time and thus I usually eat a lot. If I can make it past this, then I've gone a long way towards solidifying this habit. |

Thank you for your tips: kdarnelld, skinnurse, eterprincess.
I got my chromium and L-glutamine today! I started taking them this evening. I have to admit, they took the edge off most definitely. I 'm dealing with TOM and today, I felt extremely fatigued. I ate a lot of sugar this evening...shoot. I couldn't help myself. Chocolate and frozen kefir. I finished them...now, there is no sugary treat in my house. Well, what can I say...I must get right on track starting tomorrow morning. At least, I can burn some of those calories on my stationary bike. I did 60 minutes. Skinnurse, your zucchini dish must be yummy indeed. mrwizard65 - good luck at the party! I hope you all had good Friday! Tomorrow, yoga and a stationary bike for me. What are your plans for the weekend? |
