Cheshire I don't mind, I had a laproscoptic Vag assisted hysterectomy Dec 27th. Took the Dr longer then he'd thought to do it due to the suprise of finding a Ton of scar tissue and adhesions that had my bladder stuck to everything else.

Greetings all you beautiful new women!
Don't start tomorrow, start right this minute! I find that visiting this board every day, reading people's stories, etc., really helps my motivation. One thing to try may be to put eating and planning what to eat fairly low on your daily priorities list. CAVEAT: Make sure that there is always food available to eat that is low carb. You may not be hungry enough to eat it, but it will be there. My fridge has plenty of cheese and some luncheon meats -- two things that keep forever. Also, eggs and sour cream. And Simply Jif peanut butter. If I come home from work and need to EAT something, I eat ONE teaspoon of it. That's all I need to keep the stomach from grumbling. I HATE the recipe help area of the thread. I don't go there but once a week, because it's filled with bad ideas. All kinds of complicated ways to make sweet baked things but sorta kinda low carb. Mysterious sweeteners, complicated nut powder mixes posing as flour. Why Why Why? I'm sure that a small percentage of us will be able to continue to lose weight or maintain with these cakes, cupcakes, cookies, puddings, creampuffs, candies, etc etc. But not me. So --I don't go there. But, most important -- maybe you're not busy enough. Stop thinking about food. Be TOO BUSY doing other things to think about food. Food is your fuel -- try thinking about it that way. I read that some people get bored with LC food pretty easily. Well....maybe. But, for me, if I am losing weight, eating the same things actually helps me. Food is not a priority. Learn an instrument that takes two hands -- the more you practice, the less you'll eat! Anyway, see y'all tomorrow!

DairyQueen, I'm with you on the mysterious sweeteners and fake food. I decided long ago to just quit the habit of cakes, cookies, brownies, ice cream... what's the point? If I really want a bite, I'll have the "real" stuff! I tend to depend on food for comfort or when I'm bored, so it's best to just break the habit altogether. I put Splenda in my coffee, but that's about it.

Chesire - Thank you for the advice. I did think that I would be full all day and did not prepare myself with LC snacks. Last night I went and bought some Deli roasted chicken to have a a snack as I was right at 20 carbs yesterday with my meals.
My January goal is 248.5, I will not weight until Monday though and hope to see the scale down from 256.5. As for the receipe room I have never visted it. I have always been able to stay away from sweets - it's bread and pasta that give me problems. I think that Linda Sue's Low Carb has some amazing receipes and she *'s them to let you know what is good for induction. Calorie, fat, protein, fiber and carbs are listed on every receipe as well as suggestions/tweeks - ie, this receipe can be frozen, this is acutally better if you don't cover it during cooking ect. Well, I hope everyone has an AMAZING day. I know I'm going to. Menu: B: Ham and cheese quiche L: Shepard's pie D: Baked chicken with broccoli and caulifour S: Hard salami w/pickle |

Coffee ... yes...! It's my second day of Induction and I'm feeling a tiny bit low-energy. That extra cup perked me right up!
Anybody have an opinion on the HWC vs. Half-and-Half issue? I'm using Half-and-Half, with two packets of Splenda - that's 3 grams of carbs, I think, so I'm trying to limit myself to two cups a day, or it's a huge part of my 20 grams of carbs! |

I use sucralose for my coffee, no carbs. I got it at wal-mart on the sugar aisle. Can't tell the difference, but I didn't want to waste carbs on coffee.

LoriAS, I agree, it's delicious - I generally go back and forth, depending upon what's in the fridge. HWC is so great in recipes.
Lynn, carbs spent on coffee are never wasted! HA! ![]() |

Okay, day 2 down and already starting to get the low carb flu (I think thats what they call it). I'm a teacher and could hardly keep up with the kids today! I hope I get over this quickly!!
Jan 2- 320 Jan 3- 316 Now, I know I haven't really lost 4 pounds, the scale always shows a big loss the morning after my first full day of eating well, but it's definitely a motivator |

Cheshire girl, have you tried cheese chips or pepperoni chips? Just slices of either one nuked up in the microwave until crispy? Really easy and pretty satisfying!
