240's club

I am 37 years old. 5ft5 and 248lbs. I used to be on Nutrisystem years ago and used their forums. I found that having a thread dedicated to leaving the "240's" or "180's" ect helped me feel accomplished and I got to know some really cool people who moved on down the scale with me. Anyone interested?

I figured we could use this to post our previous days food intake, tips, tricks and in general just encourage eachother on this journey out of the 240's.

my plan

I am actually starting induction today. I am pre-diabetic so atkins just seemed like the best approach since I have to limit my carb intake anyways.

I started my morning off with 4 strips of bacon. I plan to have a couple of turkey n cheese roll-ups with mayo for lunch and for dinner I will be eating ham with deviled eggs and a cup of green beans. For snacks today I have string cheese. I will be drinking diet Coke, water and coffee with heavy cream and equal. (I have done Atkins in the past and the caffiene and artificial sweetners didn't seem to affect me as it does others)

Good luck Everyone! We can do this.

Just made lunch. I thought I was going to just roll some turkey meat with cheese but decided to try frying some ham slices in the bacon grease from this morning and put a slice of swiss on each one. The ham turned out crispy on the bottom. I sprinkled some chives on top and ate it with some seasoned mayo. It was very good. Here is a pic.

Maybe I'm the only one in the 240's? hehe Either way I am going to post until I am out of here and in the 230's.

YEsterday was my first induction day and it went great UNTIL we had to go eat a late Christmas dinner at the in-laws. I really thought I could just eat meat and the veggies but low and behold every vegetable at the dinner was some sort of casserole or potato. (green bean casserole, brocolli casserole, mashed potatos, au gratin) and the only veggie that wasn't altered was corn and that was on the DO NOT EAT list for induction. The women on my husbands side of the family are all pretty thin and have never had a weight issue. I knew if all I put on my plate was ham, it would spark up the conversation about the why's I was only eating ham and then the whole meal would have been consumed with the skinny girls telling me that I just need to eat less fat and more fruits and veggies to be thin like them. I just didn't want to have that conversation so I caved. I had very small spoonfuls of the green bean casserole and the corn and I steered clear of the desserts.

I know it set me back on my first day but I am starting day 2 with renewed excitement. One interesting note was that I checked my blood sugar all day yesterday out of curiousity and they were good ALL DAY.

Todays Meal Plan
Breakfast: Sausage and eggs
Lunch: Turkey and cheese roll-ups
Dinner: mock taco salad
Snacks: string cheese

I'm not in the 240's, but I'd like to join you! I went crazy over Christmas, so totally know how that goes. I really think getting back on the plan is the important thing. Slips happen!

Here's what I'm eating today:
Breakfast - left over chicken thighs
Lunch - taco salad with ground pork, lettuce, sour cream and cheddar
Dinner - hot and sour soup
Snacks - bought some pork rinds yesterday, so giving those a try. Also have some Atkins candy bar thing for a snack tonight.

I really want to stick with the plan over the long weekend. Last weekend we went to 4 different parties and I ended up drinking wine and bagging the diet. I'm thinking of making up a meal plan for the weekend and posting it on the fridge. My boyfriend is thin but hasn't minded the low carb meals. He just likes to have his lady cooking for him.

I actually went to the store last night and got some things I saw a lot of people mention on here like coconut oil (a little pricey), cream cheese and olive oil. Seems you can make lots of things with these. I feel rather bloated today so I am going to give that weird coffee with CO a try that I have read about on here. I am down 4.5lbs this morning so I am excited about that.

Todays Plan:
Breakfast: western omelet with cheese with coffee
Lunch: parmesian crusted chicken breast (just chicken breast slathered with mayo and coated with parmesian cheese and baked in the oven til crisp) with leftover 3 cheese spinach bake from yesterday
Dinner: Taco salad with no chips
Snack: Celery stick and cream cheese
Going to try and drink at least a gallon of water today too.

My husband went from a scrawny 130lbs when we got married to 205 over the last almost 14 years of marraige to me but on a 6ft tall frame he looks great and eats whatever he wants. I used to make jokes about him being a chubby chaser since he seems to like the weight I have put on (hence the 7 children) so I have been blessed with that. Yet it does force me to have to be motivated for myself since he doesn't care anyways. He has even sabotaged my efforts in the past because he says "You are hot the way you are" lol I need to do this for my own health though because I am pre-diabetic and just not healthy overall.

Good luck today.

I just had to post again to tell you what is happening to me. I made a meal plan and decided to have a pork chop and 3 cheese spinach bake for breakfast instead of the omelet at 10:30am and now it is 2pm and the thought of eating right now is the furthest thing from my mind. I am actually forcing down some mozzarella wedges just to keep my sugars from getting too low. Is this normal to lose your appetite completely this early in induction?

Yeah! I think losing your appetite is the whole point of this diet! I think if you aren't hungry, don't eat. Just go with the flow and have plan foods around when you need to eat. Your husband sounds very sweet.

I'm in the midst of moving, but wanted to set out my plan for today.

Breakfast: bacon and eggs
Lunch: going to make a salad with romaine, left over bacon, a few tomatoes, whatever other veggies are in the fridge
Dinner: I just put a whole chicken in the crockpot, so that will be good when I get back from my old place. I have some broccoli to steam to go with that. Will probably bake a potato for the honey.
Snacks: pork rinds

Down to 206.6 this morning. I think I was 207.2 yesterday, so .6 loss.

Hey girls,
This seems like a good forum. I just currently weighed in at 249.8 . Over the past 2 months i've been anywhere between 241-249. Before thanksgiving I was 241 and since the holidays I've been up and down. Now that the holidays are over its time for me to get back into the right mode. My first LC meal will start for dinner. I plan on having chicken breast made in olive oil and throwing in some green beans as a side dish. Thank you for posting this thread!

Welcome aharris! Looks like you have lost quite a bit of weight from your stats. Congratulations! Thats awesome. I have posted my plan for the day everyday but I have to say that I rarely do my meals in order (I might switch lunch and dinner ect.) But I still feel it is good to PLAN to not fail by always being prepared.

Today I made the most heavenly "alfredo" sauce out of butter, cream, garlic powder, italian seasonings and lots of parmesian cheese. The rest of the family had pasta and I just microwaved me 2 chicken breast and used the sauce as a dip for my chicken. It was so sinfully indulgent and yet perfect for this diet. I LOVE ATKINS. I had a whole lot of the sauce leftover so I you will probably see that on my menu for a few days

I still haven't "gone" today so I guess more bullet proof coffee is in my future tomorrow morning. I may have to eliminate the raw egg for now cause I just have the hardest time getting it down knowing that the egg is in there.

See you gals in the am. I plan to weigh myself everyday while induction just out of my own curiousity. Hope everyone had a great low carb day. We can do this. 230's here I come.

Great job on the loss. I am going to weigh myself everyday also during induction. Your menu today sounded great. Have you checked out the "induction food porn" thread yet? OMG! I was drooling over some of that stuff. The stuff people are making on Induction makes me think I CAN do this for the long haul. I was real sick of the baked chicken and brocolli thing the last time I did this. Some people are super creative. They even have a post about homemade pizza crust that you can eat on induction! I was literally drooling over the stuffed crust pizza picture.

Holy moly, just was looking through the induction food porn thread. I need to make those mini cheese cake things!!!!! And I want to make alfredo sauce now too!

I pretty much followed the plan, although I had a couple pickles and a sugar free jello.

Aharris, you sound like you have had some success. Post your food plan!

Well, I'm up to 209.2 this morning. All those pickles! I ended up eating another one last night. I need to just throw them away since I can totally binge on pickles and they do have carbs and tons of sodium.

So, planning to be very strict today. I'm going to post not only my meal plan, but also the amount of carbs. I've been lazy about counting them, so not sure if I've even been staying under 20.

Well, I wouldn't be discouraged. It could be that you haven't rid your body of waste yet? (best way to put it) My digestion is so much slower on low carb possibly for the lack of fiber. I have been choking down the bullet proof coffee and it has been helping to keep things moving along. I don't like the flavor. I have not really counted carbs either but I haven't allowed myself anything carbish except spinach, green beans and small servings of salad. Last night I used 1 tbsp of ranch dressing on my small bowl of salad which had some but since I had only had spinach earlier in the day I figured I was under the 20.

I have been craving some sortof crunchy food which is something I deal with EVERYTIME on Atkins mostly in the evenings. (I'm used to snacking late at night) I was tempted to do the pickle thing but didn't have any so I made coleslaw last night (bag of tri-color shredded cabbage, cup and a half of mayo, 2 tbsp of apple cider vinager, 1 packet of equal, and lots of salt and pepper) It had just enough of a crunch to satisfy my craving and it was barely any carbs.

I was down another 2.5lbs this morning after I "went". For a total of 7lbs in 4 days. I was super excited. Of course, I am told that only I will notice until I hit a nearly 30lb loss.

My advice would be if the pickles keep you on plan than eat away just wash them down with excess amounts of water. And I would count the carbs in the little things cause they do add up.

Plan for today's food menu was trashed as I thought I could force down a bullet proof coffee before church but just couldn't get past the taste so I actually had only half a cup for breakfast. Than for lunch I had a chicken breast with more alfredo sauce and more of the 3 cheese spinach bake. Dinner will probably be a pork chop with brocolli or eggs. Snack is going to be a real cup of coffee lol

I am hoping to be in the 230's by Tuesday. Weighed 241 this morning.

Hey! Well, I was too lazy to count up my carbs today, but I am in ketosis, so I'm pretty sure I'm doing ok. Have you used those ketosis strips? They're pretty nifty!

What I ate today:

2 pickles before I was able to dump the jar out. I feel so addicted to pickles! In fact, my name on here should be Ms. Pickles.
Breakfast: Poached eggs with canadian bacon and hollandaise sauce. This was amazing!!
Snack: a few pork rinds
Late lunch: made a chicken vegetable soup with chicken from last night. Very few veggies in this, mostly chicken and broth.
Snack 2: 1/2 atkins chocolate bar thing. My bf loves these, so I split it with him.
Dinner: Portabello "pizzas" with a little sauce, whole milk mozz and canadian bacon. Yum!

Breakfast and dinner were pretty amazing today.

Tomorrow night we have plans to go to my favorite sushi place for New Years. I really want to eat some sushi with the rice... so will probably go off plan for dinner. So here is my plan for tomorrow:

breakfast: 2 or 3 poached eggs with left over hollandaise
lunch: leftover soup
snack: mozzarella cheese
dinner: sushi! Planning on eating mostly low carb options... miso soup, cucumber salad, sashimi, etc. but also a few pieces that include the rice.

Wow BiggestLoser! Your menu sounded awesome from yesterday. (I say yesterday because it is 1:45am right now for me) I have used them in the past and they are really cool. I think as long as I am still losing I wont need them but that will be the first thing I buy if I go 2 days on plan with no loss. I went to a GNO at a girlfriends house tonight after the kids went to bed (hence being up til almost 2am) I took a sour cream and cream cheese dip I made with some cut of cellery sticks and cucumber so that I wouldn't go off plan. I thought I would have been the only one noshing on it but surprisingly my snack was the only one that was nearly gone by the end of the night and not just by me lol

I think you can make really good choices at sushi restaurants. Only reason I hate going off plan is that it takes my body several days to get back into ketosis everytime I eat the wrong carbs. But everyone is different. Maybe if you only have a few with rice then you wont be completely out of ketosis? idk

I am super excited to weigh in tomorrow morning since I am hoping my good choices at the GNO will pay off. It will be my 5th day on plan. Goodluck tomorrow everyone!

Weighed in this morning and I had gained .5lbs Of course, I know enough to know that could be water weight so I am not too bummed unless of course I gain again tomorrow grrrr.

Plan for today
Bullet proof coffee for breakfast
deviled eggs for lunch
chicken and brocolli with alfredo sauce
snacks if any will be celery and leftover cream cheese dip

I may end up making chicken soup today as it is super cold here in Kernersville, NC. Normally off Atkins I would make a hot creamy chicken and dumplings or creamy chicken stew poured over a warm biscuit..yummers BUT ALAS I will probably just make the broth kind. I guess I could put some cream in it to fatten it up a bit but it won't be the same without flour to thicken it.

Happy Induction ladies!

Hey there!
Haha, yeah I was kind of lost there for a sec. I love using the ketosis strips; keeps me kind of motivated for some reason. Weighed in at 208.6 this morning. Not sure what's going on, but just continuing to go with the flow.

I've requested Dr. Atkin's book from my library. It should be in next week. I haven't read it for a few years, so I think a refresher is in order.

I had my eggs and hollandaise for breakfast as planned. Kind of sick of eggs now! How exactly do you make that coffee thing? I drink coffee every morning, so may have to try that.

We were invited to a party to watch the fireworks at the Space Needle tonight. I think I'll pick up a bottle of vodka (no carbs!) and some diet mixer to bring. I know, I know, totally not induction friendly but it's New Year's Eve! I'll be better next year. Happy New Years Jennifer!

Take care,

Theresa

Regarding the weight, I think this is why lots of diet folks discourage daily weighing. It can be an emotional roller coaster! I think these fluctuations are just going to happen, but as long as the trend is downward, we're all good. We just need to stick with it!

Hi All

I am not in the 240's but think this is a really motivational thread so hope you will let me join.

I am currently about 230 with the gain over Christmas but don't know exactly as I have only just got home after being away so tomorrow will be my first proper wi of the new year. I love Atkins and have always lost on it, but am a very big self sabotour and find that when I am doing well I will often go off track, or find any excuse to stray. So this year I am going to try and combat this and keep off any pounds that I lose.

Todays menu
Breakfast - buttered scrambled eggs
Lunch - tuna cucumber mayo salad
Dinner - chicken breast with cheesy cauliflower (or broccoli depending which I fancy later)
Snack - baby bel cheese.

total carbs - 14.6

I still haven't "gone" today so I guess more bullet proof coffee is in my future tomorrow morning. I may have to eliminate the raw egg for now cause I just have the hardest time getting it down knowing that the egg is in there.

See you gals in the am. I plan to weigh myself everyday while induction just out of my own curiousity. Hope everyone had a great low carb day. We can do this. 230's here I come.
That alfredo sauce sound really really good!

Aharris, you sound like you have had some success. Post your food plan!
I used to make the mini cheese cakes too, i found that using the regular cream cheese and not the reduced fat kind works the best. I really wish I could tell you how I did atkins before but I can't find the strength to figure that out now lol. I don't know how I was so strict then and not now. I actually started my weightloss journey in July 2011 and did WW first until december 2011. From January 2012 till about July/August i went back to WW because I just got bored with atkins. I probably lost 30lbs with each diet over the year. I tend to beat myself up over my slow weightloss due to my thyroid problems but I'm very glad that I have not gained any weight back (except for holidays).

Sorry it has been awhile since I posted, I work the night shift so things tend to get off for me. So far I went from 249 to 243. I mainly think it was just the water weight from xmas and new years lol. I admit I haven't followed induction like I should, it's been more than 20 carbs a day. It's just so hard to get back on track after being away for sometime. What is this bullet coffee you speak of? lol...

Welcome! tuna cucumber salad sounds really good! Do you have a receipe?

The bullet proof coffee is coffee with coconut oil and cream or butter blended for a few seconds. Makes it frothy and creamy and the coconut oil is supposed to keep you "going" when you are bound up lol

Glad you found us on the other thread. It just made more sense to broaden the scope a little
