Fuzzy, looks like our numbers are pretty similar! I started about 10 lbs heavier, and want to stop about 10 lbs heavier.

Six months, and I've made it a big chunk of that way. Jeans I couldn't even HOPE to get closed in January are now getting baggy on me.

Stick with us. Having a support-group like this makes a HUGE difference!

you can do it

you can do it longer then 6 weeks if you put your mind to it. start a six week committment tread. and when it's over start another one. you be the lead, to keep yourself focused and committed. sometimes we have to trick our selves into change. i wish you success in your journey

Welcome funnysfriend and good luck to you! This is my 2nd stint too. My first time was destined to fail because I have a medical issue that had basically shut down my metabolism so it didn't matter how much I exercised or how much I dieted because nothing was going to help me until I got started on medication. I started back on Atkins for the 2nd time in January, on the same day I started my new prescription, and am finally losing weight.

I hope you can find the time to read as much as you can on these forums because there is mega information that you can take with you, and the support is phenomenal! Again, welcome!

thank you everyone!!! i think (hope) this time will be different... my bday is coming up and i dont even WANT cake haha... i have asked my fam for sf jello with sf whipped cream (had to keep it simple so they could actually make it) and i am REALLY looking foward to eating it. cake used to be a weakness and my bday an excuse for whatever i wanted so this is a big step... im actually doing the induction right now for the 2 weeks then im going to start adding in whole wheats... i think i failed last time because i tried to just stay on induction with no breaks so i feel i have a better plan this time... you guys are all so inspiring!!! thank you!!!

Um, Fuzzy?

You might want to stay on the rungs. Adding in wheat right after induction will likely knock you OUT of ketosis and stop your weight-loss in its tracks. Whole grains are something you add in at the end, when you're almost to your goal-weight...

Quote:
The rungs are as follows:
  • Induction of acceptable vegetables in larger quantities
  • Fresh cheese
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Berries
  • Alcohol
  • Legumes
  • Other fruits
  • Starchy vegetables
  • Whole grains
You'll find there's a lot you can do with nuts-and-seeds to satisfy your grain-cravings and to serve the same FUNCTION as a lot of grain foods. Need bread for a sandwich? Try Almond Butter Bread
Want crackers (or something with which to scoop up dip)? Try this:
(Warning: Post-induction recipe!)
1/2 cup almond meal
1/2 cup flaxseed meal
1/4 cup powdered parmasean cheese
1/4 cup water
  1. Combine dry ingredients. Add water, and mix well.
  2. Place a piece of baking-parchment on a cookie sheet. Turn out dough onto parchment. Cover with another sheep of parchment
  3. Using your hands, slowly work the dough into a thin, even layer covering the pan.
  4. Remove the top parchment and score the dough with a thin-bladed knife.
  5. Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes, until nicely browned. (Cooking time will vary, depending on thickness.)
  6. Allow crackers to cool. Break along score-lines. Store in an airtight container and use within 3 days.

Nutrition info (for whole recipe)

Calories: 735.8
Total Fat: 56.4 g
Cholesterol: 20.0 mg
Sodium: 366.8 mg
Total Carbs: 35.9 g
Dietary Fiber: 27.2 g
Protein: 33.2 g

This puts you at 8.7 net carbs for the batch, and the batch will last you more than one "sitting"-worth. And the flax makes it intensely nutrient-dense.

Vitamin B-12 0.0 %
Vitamin B-6 39.2 %

Seriously -- if you want to succeed, take the rungs in order, rather than jumping straight to the end!
