HELP!!!

Need some advice here, I did Atkins about a few years back lost a significant amount of weight. I now have decided to jump back in, need to lose about 25lbs, started around 4/1/2012 and here it is 5/25/2012 and have seriously only lost 4lbs. So frustrated but do not want to give in yet, any suggestions????

1st..If you are close to your ideal weight (which may not match your personal goal weight) it will take longer and be harder.
2nd..Can't help if we don't see what you are already doing...Can you post a couple of day's worth of food and liquid intake?

I started at 191-192 and now at 187-187.5, 5' 9" in height. I would like to be between 165-170 'ish. Breakfast consists of 8 oz mug of coffee w/ non dairy creamer and 2 splenda packets. Either 2 eggs/bacon or sausage links or atkins meal bar. Lunch usually either another aktins meal bar w/shake or salad from local deli (all acceptable foods). Dinner varies, try to always have my 4oz of meat and then the rest in vegies. I eat alot of steamed/roasted cauliflower, broccoli. Snacks are usually pork rinds or summer sausage cubes w/cheese cubes. Have cut that out lately because not seeing any progress. Hope this helps.

First I would ditch the nondairy creamer and go for HWC in the coffee, and I am only seeing 4oz of meat at supper and none at lunch? That is about 1/2 of a regular sized hamburger. (precooked weight)

Just by what you have posted I would cut the meal replacements and increase the meat and fats.

Maybe do induction for 2 full weeks, whole foods, see how that works?

Thanks, I will try that maybe. I started back on the first with all the meats and was having avocado, some cheeses here and there and didn't see any thing happening so that is why I switched to the meal replacements. Just beginning to think it's my age and body not cooperating, lol. Again thanks for the input.

manandalee, you may also be one of those persons who can't tolerate the Atkins bars and/or shakes. Some people have reported that they stalled on losing weight when using one or both of those products, others have no trouble at all. Maybe try cutting those out for a full 2 weeks to see if your loss picks up? I found personally that the shakes are good for me to use in the morning if I can't eat (I always have trouble getting food down in the morning but have to have something on my stomach so I can take medication), but I couldn't eat the Atkins bars. I love them but they don't love me!

Good luck and keep us up to date!

jeeze I love Avocodo. I swear I could make a lunch out of Avocado, blue cheese crumbles and bacon with just a bit of blue cheese dressing. mmmmm....
Or mix up some mayo, salt and pepper and a can of water packed chicken and smoosh the avocado in that....
I really need to hit the store for some of that yummy stuff!

This time back on Induction I didn't lose anything at first cause my body was not convinced that I was serious, but I've hung on and it's finally letting go of the weight. I wouldn't recommend using the bars or shakes except for in emergencies. It looks like you could definitely use more protein too! Good luck, if you keep at it you'll start seeing the scale go down!

I had to try your avocado, blue cheese, and bacon recipe today. It was delish.... I have been trying to figure out how to eat the avocado. I was getting bored with just salt and pepper. Thank you very much for the idea.

First thing I think you should do is if you don't have one, get a copy of an Atkins book and read it. Do not try to do it by memory.

What does lots of cauliflower/brocolli mean? Are you accurately weighing and measuring to fit this amount into your total 20 carbs?

There is a limit to these veggies during induction

I would also ditch the bars/shakes and non dairy creamer

I have the book and the acceptable foods book also, also keep track of measurements and portion size. Today's log:
Breakfast 2 scrambled eggs, slice of American cheese w/chorizo and 1/2 low carb tortilla. Coffee w/ sugar free coffee mate.
Lunch Pasta salad minus the pasta just the veggies, broccoli, olives, cucumber, cherry tomatoes.
Dinner 2 hot dogs w/ slice of cheese, hotdog chili no beans and 1/4 cup full fat cottage cheese.

I'm sure this is all not good but with it being a holiday weekend it was a challenge.

okay, you have the book and acceptable foods list, so you must know that the cottage cheese and low carb tortilla are not allowed right?

not trying to harsh your mellow or anything. but you already have your answer to why you haven't lost much weight yet. I do find my weight loss slows right down when I eat anything not allowed. I know it doesn't seem like a big distinction to eat heavy cream instead of non dairy creamer, or cheddar instead of cottage cheese. but it really is.

I know some stuff because I have failed at this a lot already. learn from my mistakes! my advice to you is, give it a really clean two weeks. no bars, shakes, or low carb products that mimic high carb foods. no cottage cheese or anything that Dr A hasn't specifically said you can eat in his induction foods list.

it will be frustrating at first but I am willing to bet real money that if you give it a really clean by-the-book induction, no cheats or slips or substitutions, then you will see a significant difference. if you are adding in extra things, or making it up as you go, then you are not really following induction... DO follow it, and just give it a chance to work for you!

I did know that those were no-no's, like I said hard on a holiday weekend. Today I have downloaded a new tracking app for carb intake, hopefully that will help me in doing the clean slate of induction. Today will be day 1, keeping my fingers crossed!
