10th day of induction, and ate a piece of chocolate!
I'm on 10th of induction, and i'm doing great, i'm losing weight, and enjoying the low carb food.
But today, something dramatic happened .. I ate one piece of chocolate stuffed with nuts and hazelnut cream. It's a small one, in the size of Godiva truffles peices. I dont't know how many carbs in it because it's from a local store with no nutriotion facts. But by checking the similar one in Godiva truffles, i see it has around 8 carbs. I had to eat it beacuse I was alone in the store, checking my wedding chocolate, so I had to give it a taste ![]() I ate only 3 carbs today, in addition to this piece of chocolate. So I'm still under 20gm (which I'm counting hysterically) So, did i cheat? Would that get me out of ketosis? What am worried about is that even if i didn't exceed the 20gm today, the sugar and the kind of food in this chocolate, might ruin what i've done so far in some way, or at least stall the weigh loss. And guess what. Only after 5 minutes of eating this piece of chocolate, i felt bubbles in my stomach, and a little bit headache! It was'nt a pleasent bite at all |

Ketosis doesn't really work on a "daily" basis, but rather more closely to being hourly. If you eat over 9g of carbs in an hour, it can knock you out of ketosis, which is why Atkins spreads the carb counts out through the day. It's much better to eat 3 meals a day plus recommended snacks so that 1) your carbs won't trigger insulin/glycemic response and 2) you keep your metabolism working by eating more often. (Don't go for more than 6 waking hours without eating if you can help it.)
I also wouldn't stress out of call it a dramatic event to have had a little cheat with a piece of chocolate...especially if you're hormones are playing into it! Just get right back on the wagon immediately and try harder to stay on it. You may or may not have future slip ups but don't let them define you or your diet. You're human! Besides, I learned quickly that it's discipline now or pain later...like, all daggum night long pain! Good luck with your upcoming wedding too...just be careful not to overdo it so you don't end up miserable on your special day! |

Don't sweat it, just keep on going, almost everyone has a slip up, but what matters most is that we don't allow it rule the rest of the "way of life" but we continue with the program and try harder next time, plus be prepeared for the situations <3

Even if it did knock you out of ketosis, you can be right back in it again the next day! As long as you don't make it a daily habit, you should be fine. Seriously, don't sweat it
