Heavy Cream?

I've noticed that many members have listed "heavy cream" on their lists of favorite induction staple foods. What is heavy cream used for? How do you like to use it?

I use two tbsp in my coffee in the morning and you can make some really nice desserts/treats with heavy whipping cream. It does not have any carbs, but it is high in fat so you do have to be carefull and use it wisely!

On Youtube they teach you how to make sugar free/low carb Panna Cotta.

I follow the same steps to make Coffee Panna Cotta,
I substitue the syrup with splenda to taste and add coffee.

a delicius dessert!

It does have carbs, but Dr. Atkins said we could have 2-3 tbsp a day. Fat isn't an issue...fat is our friend.

I like to whip it with 3 tsps of cocoa (Green & Black's Organic has .3 carbs per tsp) and a couple of tsps of Splenda and a little vanilla or almond extract. Decadent chocolate mousse for about 3.5 carbs.

I use it for cream soups and to make crustless quiche.

I always have a quart of it in my fridge and if I find it's getting close to the expiration date, I make it into butter and freeze it.

Doh! Heavy Whipping Cream...

I use the full three ounces...anything less doesn't whip well. I use a hand blender. I also recommend stirring the cocoa into the cream a bit before blending so you don't get a powder explosion...

I made it tonight with only 1 1/2 tsp of Splenda and it was even better

Well, I guess that depends on the manufacture, I use Organic Valley Heavy Whipping Cream. In their nutrition facts for this item they have: Total Carbohydrate 0g 0%.
http://www.organicvalley.coop/produc...hipping-cream/

So that is why I even mention 0 carbs. And yes, you are correct! There is only two or three serving that one can consume. That is why I am saving the HWC for the desserts only and started drinking my coffees black.

When I make it, I only pour 3 tbsp in each small container and treat myself to a well deserve treat with in my induction plan!

Mine shows the carb count for 2 tablespoons, so it registers at .9.

But it's still the greatest stuff ever! If I'm craving and feel like I'm going to slip, a little sip straight out of the container helps...yes, I admit it!
