I wish I could remember if the Atkins bars had that affect on me or not, it's been a while since I have had one. They sure do taste good though.

S: 2 Fiber Gummies
L: 1 oz. Smokehouse Almonds & 2 Chicken on a Stick

í don't seem to be able to go into Ketosis at all, my only option left is ZERO carb 1 week induction.

I'm not sure if it's down to my diabetes or my age (42, yeah I know I don't look it! haha) but what other people get away with even in the first week I can't seem to get away with. Maybe it is because of the number of stalls in induction so far? Who knows

Anyway fell off the wagon, I won't post what my last 3 meals were

That sux MC. So many factors to consider in why things don't work for each of us.

I know you have been struggling lately and it must be frustrating. Hang in there, you're doing what's best for your diabetes and everything else will eventually fall into place.

MC, when you say you don't go into Ketosis, do you know that because of what the strips say? I've never used them, but some people who have say they aren't always an accurate indicator of Ketosis.

I ate a brownie last night. Let's both climb back into said wagon.

Thanks Kar and Pass

I just know I'm not in Ketosis, the feeling isn't there and weight stuck at a smidgen under 16st for like 5 weeks

Going to try thinking up a zero carb menu for 4 days. Here is what I have so far. Let's hope the next week is a cold one...this is not summer food haha.

Drinks - decaf black coffee without sweetener or water.

Breakfast -
bacon and fried eggs,
bacon and scrambled eggs,
scrambled eggs with edam cheese and parsley
(that's it really can't think of another zero carb breakfast, don't say devilled eggs )

Lunches or dinners -
roast chicken,
deep fried chicken wings,
steak,
deep fried pork ribs,
mackerel or sardines with olive oil and squeeze of lemon
home made kebab meat strips (ground lamb n spices)
home made burger patties with edam cheese melted on top.

snacks = pork rinds dusted with hot chilli powder and iced water!

Going to be really hard to do, but if 4 days of that doesn't do it nothing will. Not sure what else to have for dinner, lamb is really expensive and sometimes smells funny when cooked, also I'm not big on pork chops or fish (unless it's battered cod and chips ) either. There are these Turkish sausages made out of pretty much 100% beef (no husk/whey etc to bulk them) with sort of Chorizo type spices BUT I don't know how many carbs are in them, I plan to keep 1 carb per day for stuff like lemon juice on mackerel fillets etc.

Hey MC, hang in there! I have always found getting through the first week tough, and at the end of my 1st week last Sunday I had only dropped 1lb. But this week I am sure that the scale is moving, I am weighing in on Sundays.

If you do the zero carb diet you will def see a change, drinking heaps of water and get your body moving. But being diabetic you probably have some insulin problems, maybe insulin resistance or metabolic resistance? Dr Atkins goes in to detail about this in the book, if you haven't read it you might want to check it out.

Are you taking supplements? I have some experience with resistance via my sister who has some hormone balancing issues. She has stuck with it and in the last year has dropped over 40lbs- but do the maths, that is less than a pound a week. She was really discouraged but stuck to the diet as she felt better eating the Atkins food. She would remain at the same weight for weeks at a time, like you. She got so desperate that she was trying all sorts of stuff like fasting/fat fasts etc, but in the end I think it just made her miserable.

She is still steadily losing the odd pound here and there but has much more energy and has started jogging which is seriously almost a miracle! So now she is building muscle and relies less on the scale and more on her clothes.

Anyway, just because you haven't started losing yet, doesn't mean you won't. Keep it up and be kind to yourself! You are already on the path to better health. It is a long and rocky path, so small steps are the best

Hope this helps!!

Thx! Tryin to keep it simple at the beginning otherwise I'll get overwhelmed. I love all these recipes I've seen on here so I plan to incorporate some as I gain confidence and more knowledge on Atkins! I did south beach a few years ago and I must say Atkins is much tastier hehe. Gaining tons of inspiration reading this thread

debating whether to start posting my meals again, my summer has been so random! for instance yersterday i had a cheesestick and 3 sausage links all day until 7pm and then went out to dinner. i had teriyaki chicken lettuce wraps- looked up online and it was 28g of carbs BUT im assuming most of them was in the sesame noodles which although i picked slightly at, i left the huge mound on my plate and ate around it. so i doubt i ate close to 28 carbs and even if i did, altogether my carb count still couldnt have been that high.

maybe ill start posting my meals the next day, i see some of you do that. i liked making the plan in the beginning of the day and im trying to figure out what is the benefit of posting the next day (your thoughts?) but ill give it a try... so ill see you guys tomorrow!

Hi asdf!!! If I understand your question correctly, the reason why I post my meals the next day is I found some of the time I'd post during the day what I had planned that night for dinner, and then something would change. That, plus I am a nighttime binger, and never plan those of course. Well, usually they're not planned.

Sometimes simple is best, less complicated, especially when we have so many things to worry about already. I feel overwhelmed sometimes too, DH says I should plan simpler meals so I am not so stressed out. (Good advice) Maybe it's the mayo and fats that make LC much better.

I think I am going to start posting my meals the day after also bc mine always change too. Yesterday's plan changed a bit so here's what my final day ended up being:

DD today:
B: Coffee w/Splenda & Half n Half
L: Vanilla Strawberry Protein Shake
S: Green Tea w/Citrus Flavor + Weight Watchers Jalapeno Pepper Cheese Wedge
D: Pollock (fish) w/Sugar Snap Peas
S: 1 Orange

442 Calories & 27g Carbs (Net)

Hi all again! Sorry for MIA the last few days but my daily menu has also been MIA !!!!!

I had so many unexpected social things- some I was able to control but others not really. I did OK, but had some alcohol (red wine) and some blueberries which will have stalled me this week. (I lost some though!)

Today is embarrassing but I am going to post b/c I have to admit it to myself first and foremost...and to remind myself what I ate!

B: Bacon and eggs, coffee w/hwc. Water (lots)
S: cheese
L: caesar salad with chicken, no croutons.
S: coffee
D: Well, my friends threw me a surprise party! It was awesome, but I had a gin and tonic (I think it was regular tonic), PLUS I ate a small portion of Tiramisu. Ugh.....I managed to avoid any bread and/or crackers etc, no cookies or other stuff... but still I was more or less off plan due to drinking alcohol.

OK...that's my confession! Tomorrow I am clean again. Lots of water, back on the horse!

That's SO annoying when you spend money and don't like the food, especially when we are already limited in choice or have to pay the same amount of money for a burger just to throw out the bun.

Looks like you learned your lesson today moniruth. At least you got past it and are ready to start fresh tomorrow.

UD today
B: CJ's Breakfast Pudding w/Blueberries + Coffee w/SF Hazelnut Creamer & Splenda
S: 2 Fiber Gummies

I'm going to start a strict induction tomorrow. I went for 2 weeks on induction and lost some weight, clothes fit better but I did cheat at the end. So I'll start again!

Hey everyone! It's quiet on these boards... I think this is about the time the new years resolution people trickle off- but we are here! We are strong!

Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 bacon, half a small avocado

Lunch: inside of a deli sandwich and some tomato

Dinner: Alice springs chicken and salad with homemade caesar dressing

I am feeling less hungry then those first few days- thank goodness!
