YUMO on the chessecake pie! Hope you enjoyed it.
What subsitiutes do you all use here for sugar, splenda, steivia? I know some make you stall but I have not found which works the best when baking. That is one of my ways to destress is to bake. I snacked last night but this time I had pork rinds on hand! What is the scoop on how many and how often can you eat those? I know full of questions this morning hope you guys can help. Have a good one. B: 2 eggs fried w/ olive oil L: grilled chicken (we have had weird weather here) D: last of whitecastle pie w/ salad S: sf jello,?pork rinds E: ripped 20mins and 20 elliptical water I can say this exercise is really making me sore, I hope to see something happen soon. |

Ra - so glad that your sister is doing better...
and have a great time at your party for you DS.... relax and enjoy it......Chelsey - so glad that you have come back here... we missed ya..... and YOU CAN do it.... Sebooth - wow you being soooo strong with the cheesecake... Marver - good job on snacking on just pork rinds.... I sometimes eat them, but not really my favorite things to snack on... I have crushed them as a breading for chicken - I really think that you could not overeat with them..but that is IMO as I know I could not eat alot of them

Sebooth - I'm so glad you had a great birthday!! Your husband sounds like a really awesome guy. That cake is BEAUTIFUL! Yum!! Good for you for taking a taste and freezing the rest.
Marv - I don't eat pork rinds but from what I understand, they are usually pretty close to zero carbs. Do they have a lot of calories? That would be my only concern for you since you are so close to your goal weight. Calories would be the main killer on the scale at this point. Also, I use splenda, but I don't really bake. The liquid splenda has zero carbs and would be a better option, but I've never bought it. I feel like I've read that one of them turns bitter in some recipes (maybe stevia?) but again, I have no clue. Sorry! This may be a good ML question for the bakers. So the dreaded scale is still up for me today. I was pretty good yesterday but maybe overate some almonds. I swear, you make one tiny slipup and it makes it a billion times harder to be as strict as you were the day prior. I do feel thinner today and more resolved - the alcohol headache is gone. So I'm hoping that today I can be extra strict and see movement on the scale tomorrow. B: atkins bar; coffee w/ cream - going to ditch the atkins bars next week L: spinach and hamburger bake w/ green beans D: quiche |

That was fantastically sweet of your husband Sara!!!
AWEEEEEEE (and so close to Valentines Day!) it's got my sappy romantic side showing!! and for him to stay up all day/nigth with you was priceless!!!! Tell him he has my vote for most romantic husband without being girly!! LOLOLOL Im still stong with the LC (even though I haven't posted much) I havne't even posted in ********* in 2 days...... but SWEAR we have only had legal stuff. My daughter is having a big party in French class and was grubmling about not being able to eat (esp after making homemade crepes for everyone!!) so I made her 2 little crepes with egg, cream, almond meal, protein powder, truvia and vanilla. That was she can have something Have had a few atkins bars, but to be honest, only the endulge ones taste worth it, the rest are gross. Protein shakes seem to get me through any rough spots. Scale hasn't moved. Dr's appt tomorrow. Alot of personal stuff coming up and Im working hard to deal with that (constant prayer) but happy with myself that I haven't cheated (especially in the face of this drama) e |

Esam -
I hope everything is okay re: the drama. I agree, the endulge are the only bars that taste good to me. Well, those and those daybreak oatmeal type ones are good. I dislike the regular bars. Blah!RA - glad you're sticking to your plan. What is hamburger steak? Pawley - Glad I'm not alone with those feelings. I swear the hunger bug was quiet this morning but is yelling loudly in my brain now. I felt the urge to snack but made myself get up and walk around the hallways and get more water. I will resist and will not eat... So, when I was walking around the halls and getting water, I bumped into someone I haven't seen in a few weeks. She asked me if I was losing weight and said she could tell!! I was walking to avoid snacking and hearing a compliment was exactly what I needed to plow through and avoid temptation. I swear, I have a day 2 induction headache. Is this even possible after only having 1 drink? Maybe they slipped me sugar??? |

thanks Amber,
I have alot of Faith, and am apparently growing more by the minute!! I can only rely on God to provide and allow us to prosper. I have personalized license plates on my truck that echo my beliefs: PRSPRTY (prosperity) I am putting it all on God because I certainly don't know a way out of my pickle. |

Hey Ladies!!!
I will make sure to tell my husband he wins the Most Romantic award Marv - I find granulated Splenda is the best in baking. It performs basically just like sugar in recipes, even measures out with a 1:1 ratio. The only thing it won't do is brown up (like in a creme brulee). Hope this helps! esam - I'm with you on the Atkins bars. They just aren't worth it... if I need a sweet treat, that caramel nut chew one tastes just like a Snickers and is worth it...but other than that....blech! I hope your personal drama sorts itself out. Just remember, you always have us to vent to if needbe!Amber - Not to worry. You had a night out, behaved like a low-carb angel, but still treated yourself to a drink. I'm sure you'll see movement again soon. You're doing fantastic - drink lots and lots of water and don't eat past 6 or 6:30 and you'll be golden. Chelsey - So glad you're here again. GOOD LUCK on your test!! You'll knock em dead! So, I had my ob/gyn appointment today to start talking about the plan for baby #1. She was THRILLED with me for doing low-carb (which was so nice to hear) and said that my sample menu sounded very healthy. She said it was literally the best thing I could be doing for myself to help with the cholesterol, prediabetes and insulin resistance. She said she was very proud of me for taking initiative to get as healthy as possible before we get pregnant. She said I'm on the right track and to keep it up so when my husband gets home this summer, we can reassess and see where we are. She explained to me why ovulation stops for many overweight women and that a decrease in weight of only 10% most of the time will restore ovulation However, if for whatever reason it doesn't, she said there are drugs available that can force it, so she suspects I won't have any trouble conceiving, especially once my weight is down. That was EXCELLENT news! I did get a hint of bad news that I knew was coming, but it still sucked to hear it from the doc's mouth. Because of my pulmonary embolism back in 2006, I will be considered high-risk and will have to be on Lovenox shots through the whole pregnancy and a couple months afterwards. 1-2 shots every single day...for months. I know there are millions of people who do it for various reasons everyday, but it terrifies me. I remember when I was on heparin right after the PE, and it hurt so bad...and burrrrned. I was really hoping it wouldn't be necessary, but I'll do whatever I have to for a healthy pregnancy. Was just really disappointing to have my fears confirmed. I used to be terrified of needles....I'm really not now because I was poked so many times during the PE incident....but the thought of giving myself an injection daily sends shivers up my spine. I just don't know how I can stick myself with a needle. I have no problem letting a nurse do it, but doing it myself.....![]() I'm terrified honestly. But, my doctor was very positive. She said she was very proud of me for being proactive about my health and making sure a plan was in place for the pregnancy. She says she has no doubt I can have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby and the fact that I'm worried about his or her well-being before conception means I'm going to make a fantastic mom. That was really nice to hear. But the shots......oh goodness. I'm scared. Todays menu: B: I skipped it because I was busy all morning and then had the doc appt. I know... I'm a bad girl. L: Cream of broccoli and ham soup w/ iced coffee D: Burger w/ cheese and LC ketchup and roasted veggies S: Ham and/or SF Jello E: 2 mile walking video w/ upper body Lots of water since I slacked on that yesterday Catch ya'll later -Sara |

sara - so glad that your Dr is on board with you WOE - but then again she is a woman... and of course that makes her smarter than most men
no really glad that she is so positive for you..... and I am on shots daily to help with my diabetics ( not insulin - I take pills for than) and I was a tad leery of the shots... but it does not hurt.... just have to remember to move where I give myself the shot... I guess I was sticking myself in the same place and I had a small bruise...![]() chelsey - good luck on your test esam - ![]() seeing my Dr. today for my blood sugar numbers (and they are down so she should be happy) and I have lost a few pounds... so I do believe that it will be a good appt..... |

Sara - Okay, I don't think you have been a member long enough to send private messages, so I'll briefly tell you about my experience here. Sorry ladies, just skip this post if you don't want to hear about TTC.
I started trying to get pregnant in 2007 and months just kept passing with no luck. I joined some message boards that dealt with trying to get pregnant and was recommended to read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." It was such an excellent read and I highly recommend it. They explain all sorts of fertility signs but most importantly, how to chart your temperatures to see if you are ovulating. So I started charting and realized I was not consistently ovulating. Once I dropped about 10% of my body weight, I started to ovulate and was able to see that in my charts. I got pregnant and had a m/c twice. After the second one, my doctor ordered a ton of blood work (repeat loss panel of testing). I came back positive for two potential issues that could cause miscarriages, one being a clotting disorder. So I was ordered to see a hematologist, a high risk ob, and my regular doc. They all agreed I needed lovenox. Also, my cycles were still really long, even though I was finally ovulating consistently. So they also put me on clomid, which helps you ovulate. The first cycle after being on lovenox, baby asprin, and clomid we conceived our son. I had to take the lovenox daily the entire pregnancy, switching to heperin at 36 weeks (and yes, that hurts like heck), and then lovenox until 6 weeks postpartum. I was considered high risk and to be honest, I loved that. It got me a lot more appointments, and a lot more chances to see the baby on the ultrasound to make sure everything was going well and that there were no clots in the placenta. I was on bedrest starting at 32w but that was for high blood pressure issues and then hospitalized at 35w and then induced for an early birth at 37w all because of the blood pressure issues. So yes, losing as much weight is the best since this could very well have been weight related issues at that point. As far as the lovenox goes, DH gave me my shot and I had one per day. You just rotate the position and if he squeezes some tummy fat, it doesn't hurt much at all. I did bruise EVERYWHERE and my doctor would laugh at me when I'd go in for my appointments and say, "well, I'd ask if you were lovenox compliant but I can see that you have been." When I saw the hematologist, they said that I could weigh as much as 245 (I think) and do one dose of lovenox per day. But then I learned essentially that there is two different ways to dose - one for preventing clots and one for when you have clots. So the high dose based on my weight was really for if I had clots. After a few more appointments, I was switched to a loser dose for the duration of the pregnancy. I still have my sharps container and some shots if you want me to tell you dosing or anything. Okay, this was a very long post but please feel free to ask me anything about any part of my experience. I'm really an open book about this stuff since it was a huge learning experience for me and DH. Last edited by AsmallerME; 02-10-2012 at 06:16 AM.. |

Marv -
I'm so sorry the scale is going in the wrong direction. I can't remember, but did you lose the initial weight with atkins or something else? Have you calculated calories to see how much you've been eating to make sure they aren't too high? I can't even suggest anything different with your menu, it looks perfect to me. ![]() Pawley - let us know how the doctor's appointment goes! I swear the last time I saw mine I had lost weight and I got no credit for it but man, if I gain a pound, I hear about it! ![]() Esam - Love your license tag. In trying times, it is especially important to keep strong in our faith. As someone else said, please feel free to vent or share with us. We're here for you. Okay, so first, I had no idea we had extra smilies than what we can see. Look how cute this one is: Or this one: hahaha....or this one: I'll try to control myself!!! Second, the dang scale is still up a pound today. So today is day three at the new, higher weight. Grrrr!! I didn't eat after 6:30 and didn't cheat and didn't snack. So whatever. I know it will go down soon but I'm ready to at least go back to 258. Maybe tomorrow... B: coffee, cream, last of my atkins bars L: green beans with spinach and hamburger casserole D: last of the sausage, pepper quiche |

got back from my Dr.... and
I am down 10 lbs since I was there on Jan 27th... so proud of myself...and she was excited and happy I had lost that much... plus my B/S numbers are also good....and she said keep on doing what I am doing......... I do want to up my exercise.... I have to put my walking tapein and DO it... ![]() the scales I use at my health club is old and I think they tend to move them around... so they are not as accurate as the dr. scales... and I weigh myself in my swim suit there........ but I will still weigh myself at my HC to see if I am losing....... so I just have to keep on doing what I am doing now...... |

Amber - Thank you so much for sharing your Lovenox experience. When the time comes, it's comforting knowing I can talk to someone who has done the exact same thing. I never thought about high-risk getting you specialized attention - that is definitely a bonus!
I hope I don't end up with blood pressure issues. My blood pressure was pretty good at the doc - 120/84. So, I hope after I lose even more weight, that will continue to improve. OMG we have so many cute smilies I didn't know about!!!!! My favorite is this one .... <-- That is how I feel on days the scale doesn't move (like today!). I'm sure that's how you feel, too. I'm glad you are ditching the Atkins bars... I would say those aren't doing you any favors. Keep it up girl - don't get discouraged...you'll get the "whoosh" soon. ![]() Marv - That is irritating to be up 3 pounds...BUT... you have been very dedicated to exercise. Perhaps you've gained some muscle which we all know weighs more than fat and looks much nicer. Have you been taking your measurements? I would guess that you've lost inches and are getting shapelier. Don't get discouraged - just keep up your hard work and you will see results. pawleys - 10 lbs. is INCREDIBLE!!! Way to go!!!! Chelsey - Let us know how your test went! ![]() So, I didn't do very good yesterday. But, my problem isn't cheating. It's skipping meals. I skipped breakfast, and only had some lunchmeat for dinner. And I didn't drink my water. So, I didn't see any movement on the scale...understandably so. Also, for some reason, I've been getting up much later (around 10am or so). I need to adjust that. Today is a new day and I'm getting ready to go make breakfast. Today's menu: B - Ham and jack cheese quiche L - Think I'll grab a Wendy's grilled chicken club sandwich sans bun D - Broccoli soup E - 2 mile walk w/ upper body resistance Water... MUST GET ALL MY WATER today!!! It's the numero uno stall for me. Have a great day girls, -Sara Last edited by sebooth87; 02-10-2012 at 10:46 AM.. |

Hey guys, sorry I probably wont be around much today. The heat is out, its freezing in my house, and we are headed to the in laws who have no internet connection. Once the boy wakes up, we will be heading out, and I have to clean the house.
Test went well, thanks for asking and the good wishes! I wont know how I did until probably monday, but it should be good. Amber- I also read Taking Charge... I also had 2 m/cs, but I think we have talked about that before. I have a progesterone deficiency...my body can get pregnant, but doesnt have the hormones to stay pregnant. Easy fix thank goodness, too bad it took 2 m/cs to find out I second the book and charting your cycles (but I didnt start taking my temperature for ovulating purposes until after my 2nd m/c and it had been 6 months of trying) My suggestion on getting pregnant? Have fun! It was way too much about scheduling sex from the beginning, and I wish I had done things differently. Just get a good idea of ovulation times before starting trying to conceive.Pawleys- great job on the 10 lbs!! Keep it up, I bet your doctor was so happy!! Seeboth- I give a lot of lovenox shots, but I have never had one. My patients say it doesnt hurt, but they are probably just being nice I had to take baby aspirin until 36 weeks, because they were afraid of clots forming on the umbilical cord, but thats not the same. I am happy you have such a supportive doctor! We wont try again until I am at my goal weight, so thats a big motivator for us both (even though we cant even try until December at the earliest!

Good morning ladies! Hope you all are having a great weekend so far!
The heating and cooling company actually brought us some space heaters, and it was so comfy in our house last night, so we stayed! Makes getting up in the morning to go to work a whole lot easier when you are in your own home. I cant wait until this mess is over with. I havent been so good, seems to be the story of my life. I am stressed, and when I am stressed, I eat. And, I dont eat good things. Today is a new day...I say that everyday, but all I have to eat at work today is eggs and bacon for breakfast and lunch, so I guess thats what I am eating! Thank goodness there is no yummy treats in the breakroom like it always seems there is, so I will be good on that end. Going grocery shopping today...any suggestions? I think I might pick up cocoa and some cream of tartar to make some danishes and oopsie rolls (or attempt at least!), but I need some new ideas. I am swiping Amber's quiche recipe too. Sounds yummy and makes mornings easier. Marver- night time is my weakness too. When the sun falls, my appetite grows ![]() Amber- have a very relaxing weekend with your boys! My DH and I have a date tonight to shop for some new work clothes (for him) and out to eat at Red Lobster (GC for birthday). Steak and shrimp scampi are calling my name!! Do you all have anything fun planned? Hope everyone else has a great weekend! I am at work all day by the computer, so if anyone is bored, I am here |

chelsey - sooo glad that you had heat in your home... so you could stay there.. last year I went to Michigan to visit my two sons... and a heck of a snow storm.. and power went out... so we went to his in-laws.. is was ok.. but my youngest GS did not sleep well.. we were glad to get back to their place the next day....
![]() I am still paying for my furnace - monthly plan... but I got a great interest rate from the power company for the loan.... and I got under the gov. plan that year for rebate of $1,500 off income tax... and I got $600.00 from my power company for the upgrade... so it was a win-win.. if my furnace had to go out.. it was the best time for it to go..... ![]() |

Diana- we have a 12 month payment plan too, my husband worked out the details, but I know for sure we will get a credit on taxes next year which will be nice. I will have him check with the electric company...at the very least, I think our bills will be lower each month. We have a heat pump so they are pretty low anyway, but lower would be better! Thanks for the info, and helping me stay optimistic through it all

Happy Saturday ladies!
Chelsey - one meal at a time and before you know it, you'll be nicely back in the lc groove. Red Lobster sounds great. Ds loves their biscuits and shrimp. I'm not a big fish eater but I always manage to get something good. And yay for eating off a gc. We did that last weekend with outback. Pawley - hope you had fun at the movies. I need a movie date! Your plan for water only and a good dinner is excellent. Awesome job with the exercise and more weight loss. Marv - 1200calories is probably perfect so I have no advice except to measure since it sounds like you are shrinking even if the scale is not moving. Scale was up even more today for no reason. It's times like this that really test your resolve. Sticking with it even though part of me wants to get tons of carbs. We went out to lunch and I had fajitas with no wraps and we walked around the toy store for fun with ds. Now we are home watching caillou before I attempt to put ds down for a nap. Later we are going to see friends or go to the park if the can't get together. Dh had to go to the office this afternoon so I'm on baby duty. |
