I know that it will help... and it will not be alot of carbs....
I am really gearing up for this new year..... and trying to get new menus to change it up a bit...... and I am planning my evening meals... on a blank calendar. planning and journaling always help me...

Happy New Year Everyone!
Unfortunately my New Years Eve sucked... woke up yesterday morning with the worst stomach flu. Haven't been that sick in a very long time. Once I was finally able to drink or eat something (late last night) i wasn't sure what to do given this WOE. These Boards were so helpful. I did a search and found a thread on the exact same topic and decided that chicken broth might be my best option. Did the trick. Feel much better today. Down 4lbs but I'm sure some of that will come back as I regain some fluids. Sounds like everyone is getting back on track and ready to start a healthier year. Looking forward to cheering you on! ![]() Menu: We'll see how it goes mabye soft scrambled eggs, sugar free jello ~Tracie |

Today is liquid only
Yesterday I thought I would spend the day reading forum postings for HCG, South Beach and other dieting sites. In addition to that I popped a few of the HCG pearls to experiment with appetite control. Big Mistake! New Year's Day was a 60 degree day here in middle Tenn., I was in shorts and a tank top, had every opportunity to get out of the house or do something productive, but did I take the initiative-No I did not. Instead I grazed all day on Induction friendly foods, talapia, chicken, lettuce, bacon, cabbage, sugar free Jello, chicken broth and tomato sauce soup, several cups of decaf and regular coffee, bacon rinds, and Sprite Free. Well guess what? A gain of 3.3 pounds overnight. I am laying the blame on the HCG pellets today, when I know it was the salt and amounts of food that I consumed. As an avid food addict, I should never have been reading what others are eating or going to be eating. I am chalking it up as a lost day and perhaps I will learn from my mistakes.
I have the T.V. off, iTunes Golden Oldies radio station playing on my school issued imac, drinking coffee and water, working on my personal imac (making Bingo games for rhyming, numbers to 30, and number words to thirty for my class), laminating cardstock games and materials, and thinking about this day. I am going to drink coffee, water, chicken/tomato sauce soup, Sprite as much as I can today to see if I can do without food for a day. Some days I do not eat breakfast but have a handful of bacon rinds or natural almonds at school at 7:30 A.M. with a diet drink, do not eat lunch because I get busy setting up math stations for the kids to use after their lunch, and very little supper when I finally get home about 6:00. The best tomato "sauce" to use with the chicken broth is CONTADINA. I have not found it in Kroger or FoodLion, but will check at Wal-Mart the next time I am in there. We have two Publix being built in our town, so maybe they will have that brand. It has 4 carbs per 1/4 cup (Calorie Fat and Carbohydrate counter page 145) Hunts has 5.5 per 1/4 cup. The carbs for paste is listed as 6 for 2 TBLS. which is what I was using when I began this WOE, but have chosen the sauce to save 2 gm carbs. I am going to Sam's Club today for rotisserie chicken wings (frozen-takes 7 minutes in the microwave to cook) for those nights when there is nothing available in this house-usually Wed. night we have eaten the "leftovers" from my cooking frenzy during the weekend. I sometimes go to SUBWAY for a lettuce and spinach salad, grilled chicken and bacon on top, lots of cheese, oil and vinegar, and ranch dressing in packages to add when I get home. I take a lot of thin sliced deli turkey wrapped around cream cheese and raw cauliflower for mayonnaise/curry powder/splenda dip (it looks and tastes like cake batter) for lunch at school so I can get it down in 10 minutes so I can get the room prepped for Math lesson and stations. I hate to give up two minutes to heat anything in the microwave, so I take finger foods usually. I am in my 31st year of teaching, kindergarten at a new, state-of-the-art elementary school. My daughter teaches in the adjoining kindergarten classroom. She is in her 13th year, I think. My triplet granddaughters (her girls) are all in the same fourth grade class with a wonderful young teacher. My son is a Middle and High School Principal at a private Christian School right outside of Nashville. Two of his three children attend the elementary school at that same location. His wife used to teach kindergarten in my town before he moved to Wake Forest to attend seminary school. He was a middle school teacher and an elementary school assistant principal is our town before he decided to become a preacher. He added his educational doctorate (will finish in May) degree so he could become Headmaster or teach at any of the colleges of education in Nashville. I guess I had better get to work on laminating these games and materials. It is now 10:05. Thank goodness I decided to accomplish something today, yesterday was two days long and I had too much free time on my hands and that is the reason I am on a liquid diet today!!!! |

Hi everyone.............I'm baaaaack! I was away for the New Year's weekend. It's good to be back, and it's good to be back on plan! ![]() ![]() Jaded - I'm glad you enjoyed the holidays..........welcome back to the LC WOE and good luck! I am also back on track today after enjoying some high-carb choices yesterday. I have been really hungry today; ate more than I usually do, but stuck to all low-carb choices. It's amazing how the cravings come back when you eat sugar or bread or potatoes, etc...... It feels good to be back on plan today, knowing that I will be back in control in several days.....Jaiyce: I'm sorry to hear about your dad being ill. On a happier note, I want to congratulate you on losing that 2.2 lbs, and for staying focused on your health and eating. It's easy to lose our way when we are feeling stressed......so I commend you for sticking to it! Keep up the good work; after all......we can't take care of our loved ones until we take care of ourselves first!![]() pawleys: Good for you on getting right back into your water aerobics workouts......woohoo! You are an inspiration to all of us! I am usually really good about working out......but I have only hit the gym a couple of times during the past few weeks; so I need to get up off my butt and get moving. No excuses.........I even got Zumba 2 for my Wii machine, from my son, so I need to get moving!!!! Keep the inspiration going; I know I will get right back into my routine once I start...........but the key word here is START!!!!!!![]() 50by60: That soup broth sounds very good; I forgot about sipping on soup broth......you are right.............it really does fill you up and keep hunger at bay! Thanks for reminding all of us with that suggestion! Whenever we go for chinese to a nearby buffet restaurant by my house, I always start off with the wonton soup broth, with some green onions in it, and I take one wonton and open it up to dig out just the meat to go along with the broth. I put the wonton noodle/pasta on the plate for the waitress to take it away. After eating/sipping that broth, I tend to eat allot less of the regular foods. So why not do that at home?!?!?!? Great suggestion........thanks again! Today's menu: B: ham & cheese rollups with mustard L: Applebee's Parmesan Shrimp & Sirloin, small salad with Bleu Cheese dressing D: 3 Italian Sausage Links with peppers & onions, honey mustard dressing for dipping S: ham/salami/cheese/plum tomatoes No activity today......(unless I get a jolt of energy late tonight ......not likely.........but you never know!!!!!)It's great to see everyone returning from the holidays; hope everyone had a memorable holiday with loved ones. I look forward to reading all your posts each day. Have a great night everyone. ![]()

Liquids Did It
Down to 202 this morning from 206 yesterday, I knew it was water weight. I am so glad I had the luxury of drinking coffee, decaf, water, and diet soda all day yesterday. I was only able to do this because I am at home and not at school. About 5:00 in the evening I did warm up a cup of cooked cabbage (it tasted like sugar). I made a small salad with romaine and spinach, 2 boiled eggs, two slices of bacon, and some ranch dressing. Went to Sam's Club and filled the freezer and refrigerator with quick and easy items. My daughter is doing LC this week. She has had great success with HCG injections, but is trying this WOE because the $60.00 per week shots are hurting her arms since she has lost weight. The 500 calorie diet is very limiting and she feels like she needs some kind of breakfast-she does not drink coffee or tea-and the apple or watermelon slice was not holding her hunger at bay. She has told others at school that I have lost 61 pounds
"on her own". So many at school have had stomach sleeve surgery, are on diet Rx from the clinics, or are on Weight Watchers. Several are trying 2 low carb days per week. Today is our last day of freedom until a snow day, for school is back in session for teachers tomorrow and kids come back on Thursday. My daughter (team teaches kindergarten with me) has arranged a bowling "playdate" with most of the girls in her triplets' fourth grade class. I do not bowl, the weight of the ball and the tossing action hurts my wrist, but I will be there for supervision. We all met at the cinema last Tuesday to see Alvin and the Chipmunks' new movie. Does it ever cost to see a movie in our town. $4.25 for a small diet coke? Popcorn at $5.25 per small bag? I ordered a diet coke and unfortunately did not settle for the bacon rinds I hid in my purse, oh no, I ate the nachos and hot cheese dip. SALT,SALT, SALT and carbs. What a slippery slope I was on for about 4 days. Today's food plan: B-coffee, ezsweetz, HWC L-small salad with boiled eggs, bacon, bleu cheese dressing (4) Snack at bowling-large McDonald's coffee with splenda and creamer (4) S-pan fried talapia fillets, broccoli salad (4) evening snack at home-decaf coffee with ezsweetz, HWC Jaded-glad you are back. I know the meat and egg fast works for you and Katt uses it often. I knew you all were getting snow and I see where some of the eastern counties are closed because of snow. Tennessee weather is fickle. This Thursday and Friday I will be able to take my kids to the playground for recess. Today we are bundled up like Eskimoes. I miss hearing from flawesome and Katt, I know they are lurking and reading, found CeeCee08 and oldfaw on another thread. It is good to know we have new friends here and I am enjoying getting to know them. Have a wonderful day girlfriends. |

![]() HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I am back as well. I still have a full house but it is a new year and I am back on plan. Not that I went off but I am a few pounds up from my low so I need to kick it high gear today. I have not been able to read all the posts I have missed but I do want to say to all the newbies and to all the losers!!So I have begun baby steps with exercising. I am doing 100 jumping jacks per day to get my heart rate up a bit and maybe burn some extra calories. My plan is to spread out the 100 through out the day. 25 in the morning, 50 during the day and 25 before bed. Then step up the number every 2-3 days.

Coleen - Great to see you back! You're graphics always make me smile.
![]() Happy to report I'm down 4lbs since last Tues! I think the exercise definately is helping. Well, I'm back to work today and the usual mommy grind of school drop off's and such. Didn't plan my meal for today which is a no-no, as the cafeteria at work can be a dangerous place for me. I'll make sure to do some meal preps tonight though for the rest of the week. Hope you all have a fabulous day. ~Tracie |

Hi Everyone..well I ended up falling off the wagon on New Years Day..mainly because I had an awful hangover and desperately felt I needed bread. What a mistake! ALLLLL day yesterday I was still "recovering" by shoving carb laden foods down my throat. Thank God I was able to pull in the reins today!!
50by60..I just made the broccoli salad you were talking about..yum..so glad you posted that because you gave me incentive to get some veggies out and do something with them before they go bad. With the stems of the broccoli, I decided to make some soup. It ended up to be a very Italian style soup..very delicious and unique in taste. I used the stems from two bunches of broccoli about a cup and a half of the tops of the broccoli 1 large can of chicken broth (48 oz) 1/16 cup of onion chopped 1/16 cup green bell pepper 3 cups of water 1 small zucchini (sliced) 1 clove of garlic (minced) 2 cups of washed escarole leaves torn into pieces and added to broth. 2 slices of cooked crumbled bacon with about 2 Tbsp of the grease as well. 1 Tbsp of walnut oil. (not sure if this added very much in the way of flavor to the taste of the soup which I had hoped for, but it does help with fat intake) Cooked chicken breast meat 1 oz of grated sharp Provolone cheese 1 oz of grated Parmesan cheese Maybe I'll post a pic when it's done cooking later on. Good luck everybody...and please send me some "staying with the program" vibes |

I am going to make your soup jerseygirl. I think I might omit the zucchini and green pepper but could add a can of drained green beans. I have olive oil so that will have to do. Sounds great and able to be reheated. I am all for that since I get home late from school and my dear husband has already had his sandwich or cereal supper, so it is just for me that I will prep and clean up.
jacquirsw-good to meet you and read about your journey on this thread. linda1960- I am so ready to reach your weight. It will be my "virgin" weight since I have not seen a scale read that in over 30 some years. I am hoping to enter ONEderland before Feb. 1. pawsley14-you make me feel guilty for my lack of focused exercise/movement. I think you are an amazing grandmother. I have six grandchildren- a set of triplet girls who are 10, another girl who is 9 1/2, a grandson who is 7, and a sweet little 2 year old girl. I see the triplets everyday. Their mom and I are kindergarten teachers in adjoining rooms. They are all in the same fourth grade class at our school. The other three grandchildren I see often. My son is the middle/high school Principal at a private school near Nashville, Tenn. oldafw-I did not even notice you had a gain. I miss Katt too. I believe she has a blog and I think we could find her if we tried. I think she is swamped with school. She has a huge family and I think she lost her friend in Canada to cancer recently. She spent a few weeks with her last summer. I just know she is reading these posts. She began the thread that I found to be my salvation last summer when I began this journey. i miss flawsome too. I think she had some health issues, her doctor ordered her to stop low carb eating. She was almost at her goal weight anyway. I believe she had to add vegetables and fruits to her diet. CeeCee80 is still around too, I see how well she has done and am so proud of her. Jaiyce- the Wii Zumba sounds like fun. An hour? You can go an hour? Girl, you must be a young and agile soul. I did the one mile Walk Away the Pounds last week and thought I would have to lay down all day the next day. I am going to try to walk a little more at school. I am wearing a pedometer starting Thursday (first day back with kids) to see if I can add a few hundred steps daily. I was having knee and hip pain last spring with pain all over my body. Walking was a trial, I cried every morning and told all who would listen that I was going to have to retire in May. I thought I had some kind of lung disorder or cancer since I had experienced nonstop coughing and wheezing for four months. I went to five different doctors in my home town and even to the Cardiac Specialist at Vanderbilt in Nashville. My allergy doctor, at a loss for ideas, thought it might be an issue of GERD and told me to take 2 over the counter PREVACID pills every night for two weeks. I told him I was going to try to eat low carb and do as he ordered. I weighed 263 pounds that day. Within three days of eliminating carbs and following Dr. ATKIN'S INDUCTION protocol my symptoms vanished. No medications, no inhalers (I had been using three different ones), no nebulizer treatments three times daily, and best of all... no more coughing. My nasal passages were no longer swollen shut and within a week, all of those body aches vanished. I went to an Orthopedic specialist who told me that for every pound I lost it would take 4 pounds of pressure off of my knees. So after 50 pounds lost he was so proud of me. Can you imagine how delighted he will be when I have lost 113 pounds? I have a little arthritis in my left knee, but need no meds for it at this time. We found a slight hip fracture that had healed on its own that I received in a fall at school two years ago. When I went to the On-Job-Injury clinic they did not even x-ray the injury since I was in no pain or had no problems doing the motions with which they tested me. Any time a 58 year old, fat, menopausal woman falls on the hard tiled floors during school hours you would thing they would perform and x-ray just to be sure but they did not. |

You rang??
So I got a PM from 50by60, which wound up going to my email otherwise I would not have seen it. Thanks Lady for dragging me back. I've been meaning to wonder back this way for a while now but just never got around to it. I haven't even been lurking.
Honestly, with being between school sessions, and all that happened in the last few months I think I've finally started to grieve the loss of my best friend. Her birthday was early December and her not being here to celebrate it really got me down. I've also been spending a lot more time communicating with, and spending time with my mother since the passing of my step father. For those of you who are new here, or just new to me... I started out on Feb 1, 2011 weighing in at 365. By August I was down to 280. Since then so much has happened with numerous deaths in my immediate circle, starting back to college, Hubby taking ill... etc that I kept finding excuses to not continue on with the WOE. I even got sick and dropped down to 276 in the matter of days. Some days I would LC, some days I wouldn't. Which isn't great but also helped me to not gain a ton of weight back. I went pure Low Carb again December 29th, I think. But my official "restart day is the 1st to make it easier to track. Currently, I'm sitting at 283'ish. So thankfully I haven't done any long term damage but I haven't made any gains either. I'm trying to get back into the swing of eating properly as well as adding exercise back into my life (that has realllllllly fallen to the way side) now before classes start back up in 2 weeks. So Here I am: Hopefully this time I can stick with it and drop another 80 lbs. That will put me so close to goal I'd be delighted. Right now my goal is 275. I haven't been there in a decade or so. I've missed you guys and look forward to getting reacquainted with many of you as well as getting to know the newer folks. Oh! I and I did go back and re-read atkins and highlight important parts of the book that pertain to me and long term induction. You'd think that since I had so much success in the first 6 months that I would be amazing at this by now but for some reason I feel like i'm starting from scratch again. Lastly, I'm glad to see someone bringing back the sharing of recipes and foods that work... that really helps break up the limited food choices. So.... in a nutshell... Here I am =D Now I'm looking forward to catching back up to CeeCee so she can be my weight loss buddy again since last time I looked she was the closest to my own weight and loss goal. =D Pure induction.... Here I Am Again.

So glad that Katt is no longer missing in action. I am so sorry about you and your husband being ill. Also sorry for the loss of your friend. I am glad you are going back to school, that routine seems to help me. These past 16 days off for winter break have been yoyo days..up 6 down four, up four down four. I am so tired of trying to make up for bad choices. Salt and over eating are why I am at a yoyo phase. If I could just break through 200. I will need to order from Amazon the Atkins 1992 edition. I have the 2002 edition but it does not flow as well as this particular one. I put it somewhere early in Sept. and can not locate it in the house or my workshop/office out back. That book was my BIBLE all summer. Hardly a day went by without reading some part of it. I still journal in a spiral notebook. I even over estimate some carb counts from Atkins' car counter and Calorie King carb counter.
School for teachers today-hours of sitting in the library and listening to the academic coach talk about assessments. The kiddos return tomorrow and for a kindergarten child it is like early August again. They have to be redirected and reintroduced to the rules and school expectations for the next two days. Things should return to normal next week. I usually get 2-3 new kids in January. We are near Ft. Campbell, Kentucky Army base, so we will have a lot of kids whose parents have returned from overseas. Most of their dads or moms are officers since it is zoned for affluent housing. We do have children who are living in hotels and suites while they are waiting for housing. Some of them are with me for a few months then they move to on base housing or buy a house in our zone. We also have some rural kids bussed in from the Kentucky line and a few from a mobile home park to even out the minority and economically disadvantaged populations. Better get myself to the shower. Yeah we can wear jeans and casual shoes today since there are no kids. Those casual days are few and far between. We have a dress code. We can buy a jeans day for $5.00 contributions to various fund raisers, and we earn them by "teaching" at faculty meetings and on professional days. I will check in this evening. Stay strong friends so we can all read of you successes. |

Katt, so glad to see you are ok. You are an inspiration to all of us and I (for one) could really use some right now. I seem to be stuck in the "I dont care how big I get" mentality. Welcome Back.
