I am doing well! This is day 9 and I am down 7 pounds. I find I am not eating much already. I need to get my vegetables in but it is a matter of going to the store and picking some up!!! We have a garden but our cucumbers didn't do well so I need to get to the grocery store. I have not found the urge to exercise yet either but I will eventually

Hi Debbie! I just started today8/4 as well!!. I am trying to lose about 40lbs or so and I am hoping this will not only help me lose weight but change my ways of eating forever. I am really craving sweets though and I can't wait till I don't crave them any more. I could kill for a cookie I would like to stay in touch and maybe be a life raft if you need one. Take care and good luck with any cravings. We can do this!--
B-egg omelet with ham, cheese, dollup of sour cream
L-salad with grilled shrimp and feta, low carb italian
D- Sauteed chicken breast and broccoli
Snack- One of the induction atkins bars

today is day one for me. . . . first time trying atkins.

i previously did hcg protocol and lost 38lbs. .. . . . met my goal and then gave in/up!! Gained it all back and super bloated from eating crap. Even tho i think i am going to miss cow milk and fruit (i eat fruit like crazy) i am willing to give this a try.

today i missed breakfast. . . . . . not intentional
for a snack i had some natural almonds and a cheese stick
lunch was garlic chicken and a cup of butter greens w/ kens steakhouse ceasar dressing 0sugar and 0carbs (i love this stuff, yum!) and a little gorganzola cheese.

i would love a ribeye for dinner from my fav steak house, but who knows. . . . maybe crab legs from teh freezer that need to be eaten. at least on this protocol i can still have real butter and lemon w/ it!

How is everyone doing?

Well the night is winding down and I feel really good! I was able to stick to everything(this morning though I was craving bread with butter. I got through it though.
B- egg omelet with tomatoes, mushrooms, ham, and cheese
L-atkins all stages bar
D-grilled chicken salad with feta, peppers, spinach, and no carb dressing
Snack-Atkins strawberry shake(half of one,it was really filling)
I think with the help of an atkins bar every other day (I need a chocolate fix every now and then) I can get through this well. I have already been feeling like I have more energy. No real bad side effects yet. Except peeing alot! Hope everyone's day went well!. What did everyone have today and how is everyone feeling?

Hi all, well I'm heading into week 2.5. Lost 6lbs the first 7 days(down to 250). This week no weight loss-but clothes are fitting better and my waist is 2 inches smaller! Right now I'm still eating strictly(but I'm not hungry). Bkfast-4 bkfast sausages/lunch-lettuce,cheese,hard-boiled eggs, ranch dsg/ dinner-chicken breast with bacon and frank's redhot+ slice of cheese. If I snack(rarely-mac nuts). Produce is coming into work-so I made a soup of chicken breasts(can), celery, diced tomatoes, onion, zuccinni, italian spices and garlic plus a salad of marinated mushrooms with artichokes(jars from Warehouse Club). That is for this weekend-I work nights-so I can pack a bowl and go. I plan to take string cheese for in between. I have e-mail access at work(and work weekends). So, I'll be touching base then! I just bought a new cookbook-haven't had time to read yet-Primal diet. I'll keep you posted on any tried and prove recipes.

I'm starting Sunday or Monday (depending on when we go to the grocery store this weekend). The crux of the matter is that I turned 59 in July, procrastination must stop, and I must admit that I absolutely positively have an addition to food - that's it, and it won't ever be far way - just something I know can be controlled, but it is what it is. I am actually excited about getting on program - lord knows I keep trying low-carb, convince myself that, nah, do Nutrisystem, or nah, do WW - and on and on. But in point of fact, I have always felt best on low carb and it works the best. After the last vacation to see our grandson for the first time (he's 15 mos. old, and perfect of course), and having to ask for a seat belt extender, that was the moment. Okay, it's been almost two weeks since then, but I'm ready now. I look forward to getting to know you guys and losing right along with you all.

Thanks Deb. I like the idea of the numbers on the scale dropping. But the clothes fitting better and the fact that I feel amazingly better since restarting is the greatest. The other funny thing is that I haven't needed any antacids since I went back to low carb. On WW I was popping 12-15 tums a day!

Thanks for the welcome. I recently lost 38 lbs on the hcg protocol . . . . . . .after i didn't care anymore, i gained it all back. . . . plus a few extra.

anyways, i guess i wasn't serious about following a new way of life. The hcg protocol is excrutiating but you lose like a pound (or more) a day. I just don't think i can get my head back in the game to do another round!! So this is my first stab at low carb. . . . . i WILL miss my cow juice. . .. . and cereal. But i can stick to this way better long term than anything else i have already tried.

I am currently 253 (yeck) only 5'6. Ive always been heavy, but my real 'goal' would be 175. I like how i look at 200lbs, but a little more off can't hurt. I have no medical issues, im a wife and mother of 2 (an8 and 3yr old) work full time. I live in OKlahoma and YES its hotter than all heck riht now! Just another motivator for me to lose some weight. . . .how the HECK do you sit still and sweat??? Gross, I know, anyways.

Today for breakfast i had scrambled eggs w/ american cheese and two pieces of bacon, 24oz water

lunch: lemon pepper wings from wingstop (felt like i was cheating ALL the way!!) with celery and about 2tbls of their ranch. I actually resisted their 'crack' fries this time.

dinner: small salad w/ ham, boiled eggs, cheese and bacon w/ ranch dressing, MORE water 24ozs

i forgot to take my meds(antibiotics) and needed to eat something to take them so i heated up some steak i cooked last night with some pepperjack cheese melted on top to have something on my stomach. MORE water 24ozs

i have been super thirsty despite all the water i have been drinking. i do take into account the sodium that was probably in the wings i had earliertho. Bought ketosis stix, this is day 3 and no purple. . . . . no pink either! anyways, i am gonna keep going. see you all tomorrow, be good!

Hi everyone

I started induction on 8/3. Staring from 271, I have lost 5 lbs so far.

I have done Atkins in the past and felt great, but ended up eating too many locarb treats (bars, shakes) and eventually got off plan.

Like some others here I tried Weight Watchers but was hungry most of the time still craving sweets and eating a lot of processed food.

So I am back. I realize that I need to cut sugar and I already feel better on Atkins, plus less hungry.

I just have to really monitor and limit things like locarb candy, shakes, etc. I am hardly ever able to limit myself to the appropriate amount and I find they trigger cravings for off plan foods.

Anyway, I am glad to be back here as this board has been a great place for information and support for me in the past.

Good luck everyone!!

Hi SeaGail,

After several years of denial, I have finally admitted to myself that I struggle with food addiction as well. That acknowledgement is part of what brought me back to Atkins. I find that it is easier to deal with the addiction when I cut out sugar and follow plan very strictly. This helps eliminates cravings and hunger. Now I just have to stick with it.

I am also reading Suicide by Sugar, by Nancy Appleton and Anatomy of a Food Addiction, by Anne Katherine to help keep me motivated to stick to plan. Anatomy is a workbook and I am slowly working my through it. It helps explain the brain chemistry of food addiction and also emotional issues. Both recommend abstinence from refined sugar.

Good luck to you

Hi, guys.

I've been on the boards for awhile, doing LC on and off.

I started induction on 8/6, so this is day 3 for me and I am down 2 lbs so far.

Today's menu:

B: small scoop tuna and egg salad; smoked salmon; coffee

L: Atkins shake

D: grilled chicken and steak, salad.

I have been doing New Atkins for a New You, and am supposed to be getting more veggies. Most days I have done so, so I am not going to sweat it today.

Hi guys, I started again on August 4th too, so I figured I'd hop on the train as well. I don't know how much I have lost yet because I don't have a scale that measures where I'm at right now. Last time I checked, I was 413 and I know I gained a little after that. I'm guessing my starting weight is around 430. When I hit 399 is when I'll start tracking those numbers.

Anyway, this morning I made an egg casserole type dish that has kept me feeling satisfied all day. It had eggs, cheese, ground sausage and bacon and some spicy stuff like onions, jalapeņos and such (some like it hot, what can I say?). I mixed it together and then baked for 25 minutes. My husband thought it was really good, and it reminds me of quiche without the crust.

I'm feeling good...I think I'm even over the sugar cravings now. I just have to get on myself to drink more water. I've been drinking out of a bottle all day (same bottle) and I'm supposed to drink 6 of these! I think drinking out of a glass forces me to drink more.

Welcome Portia, Pinklady, Mrs Wakefield and D. Reeve!
I'm entering week 3. Started at 256#, Now 250#. This week not hungry-I make food because I think that it's time to eat... take a couple bites and throw it away. I think the eating is more a habit! Last time I did Atkins I started at 285# and stopped at 170#. At 5'10" 170# was not a good weight for me. I felt best at 180-190. So despite what the "Charts" say that is what I'm aiming for.

Portia: I have found I do better with the 1972 Atkins. No wiggle room in that version!

PinkLady: I agree, when I use the bars, shakes, low carb candies, "low carb breads/wraps", I gain or get booted out of ketosis. I can't seem to use in moderation-so none this time around for me.

Mrs Wakefield: I admit I am also a food addict. I can't seem to moderate the amounts. The only time that I can eat a normal portion or less is when I'm low carbing. Being in ketosis, I'll heat up my meal-get thru half and end up throwing the rest away(I am dishing out the portions that I used to eat before I restarted Atkins).

D. Reeve: Good Luck with your weight loss. You'll be amazed how much better you will feel. The first place I noticed a change was my knees! No more cracking when I walk the steps and no more aching after a 16 hour shift! Don't concentrate on the numbers-tune in to how you feel.

To all thanks for being here. It helps to talk to others going thru the same difficulties. I'll be checking in on weekends(mainly). I work 12hr nights fri/sat/sun. I have cut down on the coffee. Working nights, It hasn't been easy!
