I always also cut the jalapenos in half and wrap them but I found this way much easier to wrap plus when you bite into them you get a mouthful of melty, gooey cheese in each bite so that definitely works for me! ![]() Im glad you like the blog! Last edited by aguamenti22; 10-17-2010 at 12:31 PM.. |

I just added the shredded cheese to a small pan on low heat and let it cook for about 7 minutes on the first side then flipped it over and cooked it for one minute longer. Then when I got it out of the pan I folded it over a piece of foil and as they cool they hold their shape. I have a step by step with pictures on my blog if you'd like to check it out! |

THIS ISNT FOOD PORN, BUT IT HAS TO DO WITH IT, SO I HOPE NOONE GETS MAD FOR ME POSTING THIS HERE, AND ONCE YOU RESPOND, ILL GO AHEAD AND DELETE IT IF NEEDED:
SO, I HAVE TWO BEST FRIENDS WHO ARE HEALTH NUTS, BUT THEY DONT EAT LOW CARB - THEYRE LOW FAT AND LOW CAL! LAST NIGHT, I MADE CHICKEN BREASTS WITH TACO SEASONING, CHEESE, BACON AND MUSHROOMS ON THEM. THEN I ATE IT WITH LEFT OVER DOTTIES GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE. WHEN I POSTED THE PICS OF THE CHICKEN IN MY "LOW CARB FOODS" ALBUM ON FACEBOOK, THEY BOTH SAID "ARE YOU SURE THATS HEALTHY FOR YOU ON YOUR DIET?? LOOKS LIKE A HEART ATTACK" JUST BECAUSE IM EATING THIS WAY, DOESNT GIVE THEM THE RIGHT TO ATTACK ME!! I MEAN, FROM MY KNOWLEDGE, EVERYTHING I ATE LAST NIGHT WAS LOW CARB AND FINE. IS SHE RIGHT?? I MEAN IVE READ DANDR, BUT I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY NOONE ELSE UNDERSTANDS. IVE EXPLAINED THIS TO THEM. AND EVEN SO, AM I EATING WRONG?? MAYBE I HAD A LITTLE MORE CHEESE THAN I SHOULD HAVE, BUT WHAT THE HECK. I MEAN I ALWAYS POST PICS OF MY LOW CARB FOODS, AND THEY CHOOSE THIS ONE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT? I DONT GET IT. AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG??

You're the one who read the book. I doubt if they even cracked it open. Your chicken sounds great.

Everyone's idea of what's healthy really depends on what information they've been taught, what they believe to be true, and their own personal experiences.
There's only 3 basic macronutrients: Protein, Fat, and carbohydrates. The fat phobic tend to also avoid more than minimal animal proteins because of the cholesterol content. If you're severely limiting fats, and limiting proteins - what's left? Carbohydrates - Which is what the low fat diet is based on, and aside from fresh produce, too much of supposedly healthy food out there is nothing but a chemical stew of artificially flavored and colored substitutes for real protein and fats. We believe LC is healthy at least in part because it's real food, not a conglomeration of fake food. The whole low fat diet is generally what made us gain weight to begin with. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results - if we eat low fat to try to lose weight when it was low fat that made us fat to begin with, how insane is that? Even if you starve yourself (low calorie) on low fat enough to lose weight, it isn't really sustainable, because at some point your body is going to be screaming for the nutrients it desperately needs. They're probably LF and Low cal because they've bought into the current media frenzy on the supposed dangers of saturated fats, cholesterol, and the supposed health benefits of whole grains and vegetable oils. I'm sure they were looking at the bacon and cheese in your photo and were sure that if they ate that they'd keel over deader than dead in an instant, but they obviously don't understand the science behind LC, or our personal experiences with low fat. A good source of up to the minute information about the advantages of a LC diet, and the science behind it is Dr Mike Eades Protein Power blog. For instance one of the little bits of info I gleaned from his blog: Did you know that your body is easily capable of making 2,000 mg of cholesterol daily? If you don't get enough cholesterol in your diet, it will do just exactly that. There must be some reason - like that perhaps your body needs cholesterol, since it's the building block of every cell in your body. So why does the USDA suggest that we limit our cholesterol intake to 200 mg per day? Makes no sense to limit it so much if you actually need it. ![]() ETA: You probably can't convince your friends that eating bacon and cheese is healthy for you, but be assured that what you're eating is fine. Just keep following your plan as written.
