what to do when you get tossed off the wagon?

not exactly falling off, but slamming into the ground and tumbling off a cliff into shallow waters with jagged rocks

how do you deal when you mindlessly binge on 85 net carbs in one sitting??? thats more than 4 days worth!!

I ate about 2/3 of it and tossed the rest cause it started making me sick...

If I cant even get through 3 days how am I supposed to make this my way of life?

I think the hardest part of changing your eating habits, are the very first few days. Personally, if I can get past the first three days...then it's all down hill after that! (Not really...but you get my point). I try to mentally make milestone markers for myself to get over those "hard" days.
As for what do you do when you fall off?...Get right back up! Todays a new day! Even the biggest success stories have their ups and downs. Maybe one day you'll be able to share yours! Good Luck!!!!

I agree with Victoria, it's all mindset. The first week is always the hardest. If you can make it past day 4 or 5, the sugar is usually gone out of your body by then and the cravings are gone. You can pass up a piece of cake and not even think twice. It's just the first week of "cleaning" your system that is the hardest. There were nights when I just had to go to bed to keep from raiding the fridge. But it passed. Just jump back on the wagon. Forgive yourself and start clean again.

Your body will fight you for 3 days...it wants what it has always had and it will want it bad!!!
You can make three days and then you will see the weight come off and your appetite lessen. Hang in there!!! You can be very successful because you just started and havent made this mistake over and over again. Your body is so used to the sugar that if you stick with this for even 5 days your body will not know what to do with itself except to drop some fat.

Dont beat yourself up , but take it from someone who has restarted a few times... those first three days are always hard , try to be on plan so yo dont have to go through it time and time again.

I really want to keep up with you . These boards are great..I have belonged for years and post rarely, but I saw you were just starting out and I want to be here for you.

Once you get in the swing of things youll like it and feel good about your choices, and then you wont have to eat carby foods that make you feel bad after.....some one on the board called cheaters remorse and I hate it .

Hope I didnt scare you with my long post but I look forward to seeing you here . Lizzie

Oh and here is a quote magicsmom uses as her siggy. Ive been using it alot as my personal mantra.......

" Being fat is hard, losing weight is hard, maintaining weightloss is hard , choose your hard!!"

i dont think its remorse that has me feeling like this... those sweet things i ate today (barq's root beer, raspberry filled glazed doughnut, 2 pkg instant brown sugar oatmeal) really made me sick! ive been fighting the urge to toss my cookies all day.

ive been for years a compulsive overeater and a binge eater. its really hard to break those habits. but i do find that im never hungry anymore.

I understand being a binge/compulsive eater..many a time I have shoveled things into my mouth that didnt even taste good. This way of eating helped me more than anything to get a lid on that. Hope you feel better today, btw are those your children in your avatar?? Really, really cute!! Have a good day, Lizzie

You should try to plan your food for the day and then always be conscious that you are sticking to plan. When I first started low carbing, I'd find myself going well over my limit and thinking I was safe because everything I was eating was low carb. Now, I plan my menu for each day and it helps.

Get back on it again. Don't beat yourself up.
The first few days are tough, but trust me it gets much easier.

Awless....

I had to clear out my cabinets and refrigerator of my undesirables - just gave stuff to friends and family and have a box of canned goods and dry goods going to charity. I also had to shift my thinking a LOT about the word DIET (which I hate) to WOE - way of eating...or more accurately...way of life. I'm starting induction on Friday but actually began eating low-carb about 3 weeks ago....lots of meats, cream, cheese, eggs and lots of cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, salads....emphasis on the word LOTS. I haven't lost any weight since mid-March but that's OK....I've eliminated white flour, white rice, white sugar and potatoes from my diet. NOW I feel I'm ready to take it further and cut back on carbs and cut back on quantities and see how my body responds.

I agree with Lizzie and the others...."Here's to tomorrow and a new start!"

Best wishes!
.. Loni ..

today im not counting anything... im only eating when im hungry
so far that meant twice (its now 8:30 pm!) though im about to eat again i think..
so far ive had:
Noon: 2c broccoli, 3 oz turkey breast, 1/2 c mex 4 cheese blend.
4-6pm: snacking on 2 kiwi (i know! its a no no, but soo tasty!)
9pm??: perhaps i'll have some spaghetti squash with butter and s&p.. a piece of chicken would go nicely with this. though nothing really sounds good...

is that what happens?? nothing sounds good after a few days?
nothing but some ooey gooey melted mozzerella (but i cant buy it until tomorrow!!) :'(
